Beth Shalom Synagogue is a Conservative synagogue located at 11916 Jasper Avenue in the Oliver neighbourhood in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Founded in 1932, it is the city's second oldest synagogue. Edmonton's first rabbi was Hyman Goldstick, recruited from Toronto in 1906; he was later elected mayor of Edson, Alberta. The congregation's Hebrew school, founded in 1907, would share space with the congregation until 1925, and later became Canada's first Jewish day school. In 1928, because the existing Beth Israel was overcrowded, a group of men and women decided to hold High Holiday services in the hall of the Talmud Torah, which had been built on 103rd street, just south of the Hudson's Bay Company in 1925. The Beth Israel supplied a cantor and a reader. The idea of a new congregation that would have a more modern approach where men and women sat together was conceived. On October 14, 1932, under the direction of J.H. Samuels, the congregation was formally organized and Rabbi Jacob Eisen was hired as spiritual leader. He gave the synagogue its name, Beth Shalom. After the Second World War, under the direction of Rabbi Leon Hurwitz, a Men's Club and Sisterhood were organized. The concept of a new synagogue building was suggested by H.A (Harry) Friedman and M.I. (Moe) Lieberman with other leaders in the congregation. They began fund raising and bought the lots on Jasper Avenue between 119 Street and 120 Street. The fundraising began in 1943 but the organizers decided to put the funds towards the war effort. The sod turning for the new Beth Shalom building took place on September 15, 1950 and the congregation began to use the partially finished building on April 23, 1951.

Robertson-Wesley United Church is a church located a short distance west of the downtown core of the city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in the neighbourhood of Oliver. Robertson-Wesley is a congregation of the United Church of Canada. The current congregation was formed in 1971 when the congregations of Robertson United Church and Wesley United Church merged. The new congregation moved into the Robertson United Church building. The church building is an example of High Victorian Gothic Revival architecture featuring a barrel vaulted ceiling, curved pews, and excellent acoustics.

The Molson Brewery in Edmonton was a commercial brewery that served the province of Alberta, Canada, from 1913 until 2007 when it was closed.

Oliver is one of the oldest residential neighbourhoods in the City of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The southeast portion of the neighbourhood is also known as Grandin, with both Grandin station (now known as Government Centre station and Grandin School located in this part of the neighbourhood. Oliver is immediately to the west of the downtown core, and overlooks the North Saskatchewan River valley south of the neighbourhood. Located in the river valley immediately below Oliver is Edmonton's Royal Glenora Club, Victoria Golf Course, and Victoria Park. The High Level Bridge and Groat Bridge give residents access to the south side of the river valley, including the University of Alberta and Old Strathcona. The Victoria Promenade (part of Edmonton's Heritage Trail) offers attractive vistas of the river valley at the western end of Oliver. Oliver is one of the densest neighbourhoods in Edmonton (10,570 inhabitants per square kilometre (27,400/sq mi)) and West Oliver is the densest area in Alberta. The population in 2009 was 18,203, the highest of every neighbourhood in Edmonton.The north edge of the neighbourhood was once a Canadian National Railway yard. This part of the neighbourhood was recently redeveloped, and includes apartment buildings, the Unity Square and Unity Square West strip shopping centres, some old warehouses converted shops, and parking for the MacEwan University downtown campus. The community is represented on the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues by the Oliver Community League, established in 1922.The neighbourhood is named after Frank Oliver, an early Edmonton resident, businessman, and politician. In January 2024, the city's committee on names selected wîhkwêntôwin (Cree for 'circle of friends') () to replace Oliver and sent this recommendation to city council.

The Alberta Liberal Party (French: Parti libéral de l'Alberta) is a provincial political party in Alberta, Canada. Founded in 1905, it is the oldest active political party in Alberta and was the dominant political party until the 1921 election, with the first three provincial Premiers being Liberals. Since 1921, it has formed the official opposition in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta several times, most recently from 1993 until 2012. Fourteen Liberals have served as Leader of the Opposition of Alberta.

Victoria Park is a municipal park in Edmonton, Alberta, that is part of the North Saskatchewan River valley parks system. The park features paved cycling and walking paths and several other amenities. Like the other parks in the valley parks system, the park is connected to others via multi-use trails. The park was named in honour of Queen Victoria.

Temple Beth Ora is a Reform Judaism synagogue located at 12313 105 Avenue NW in the Westmount neighbourhood of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Founded in 1979 as Beth Ora Synagogue, it is the city's only Reform Synagogue.Over the years, the congregation has occupied several buildings; for many years Temple Beth Ora conducted services in the JCC Building overlooking the North Saskatchewan River. In 2007, TBO moved from the Edmonton JCC to Chesed Shel Emeth, home of Edmonton's Chevra Kadisha.

Groat Bridge is a bridge that spans the North Saskatchewan River in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is a part of Groat Road. The bridge is composed of two spans that are side by side. The original structure was rehabilitated in 1990 and again in 2020. The 2020 $48 million rehabilitation saw the decks of both spans replaced one side at a time, with the new decks placed on the existing piers. The new decks feature an expanded shared-use path on the east side of the bridge (4.2 metres (14 ft) wide, compared to the original 2.4 metres (7.9 ft) wide sidewalk). Groat bridge connects the communities of River Valley Mayfair on the south end to River Valley Glenora on the north end.

The National Research Council of Canada Nanotechnology Research Centre (formerly National Institute for Nanotechnology) is a research institution located on the University of Alberta main campus, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Its primary purpose is nanoscience research. The institute was established in 2001 as a partnership between the National Research Council of Canada, the University of Alberta, and the Government of Alberta. It is administered as an institute of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), and governed by a Board of Trustees nominated by the partners. Its core funding comes from the Government of Canada and additional funding and research support comes from the university, Government of Alberta, and various federal and provincial funding agencies. In June 2006, the institute moved into its present 200,000 m2 (2,200,000 sq ft) facility, designed to be one of the world's largest buildings for nanotechnological research. There are at most two or three other facilities worldwide matching the new building in scale and capacity.In 2017, the institute became the Nanotechnology Research Centre, following a recognition of the institute as its own research centre. Although on the premises of the University of Alberta, the research centre is a branch of the National Research Council of Canada.

The Archdiocese of Edmonton (Latin: Archidioecesis Edmontonensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or archdiocese in the Canadian civil province of Alberta. The archbishop's cathedral see is located in St. Joseph Cathedral, a minor basilica in Edmonton. The Archdiocese of Edmonton is the metropolitan see of its ecclesiastical province, which also contains two suffragan dioceses: the Dioceses of Calgary and Saint Paul in Alberta. On March 22, 2007, Vatican Information Services announced that a Halifax native, Bishop Richard William Smith of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pembroke, Canada, had been appointed as Archbishop of Edmonton by Pope Benedict XVI. On Saturday, July 14, 2012, an official news release from Vatican Information Service (VIS), an arm of the Holy See Press Office, stated that Pope Benedict XVI had appointed Gregory Bittman, who until then had been serving as the Judicial Vicar and as Archdiocesan Chancellor, as an Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Edmonton and Titular Bishop of Caltadria.

The Society of Northern Alberta Print-Artists (SNAP) is a non-profit, artist run centre dedicated to print making. SNAP was founded in 1982 as an independent, cooperatively-run fine art printshop in the Great West Saddlery Building, located in central Edmonton. In 1996 they opened a gallery. SNAP is a member organization of the Alberta Association of Artist-run Centres (AAARC). SNAP publishes SNAPline, which includes "diverse examples of fine art printmaking" 3 times a year, and has attracted attention by local, national, and international artists. The University of Alberta Library has the full run of SNAPLine from 2002 to present. SNAP will move to an expanded space on 115th Street in the Queen Mary Park Neighbourhood in spring 2020.

St. Joseph's Cathedral Basilica is a minor basilica in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The basilica, located west of downtown Edmonton is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton and is one of the largest churches in Edmonton. St. Joseph, which seats about 1,100 people, is the only minor basilica in Western Canada. Of architectural note are the 60 stained glass windows depicting the Twelve Apostles, Old Testament characters, scenes from the Bible, and from the church's connection to St. Albert, the first diocese in Alberta. Today, St. Joseph's Basilica is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton. As the seat of the archdiocese, it is the church of the archbishop.
