Mill River Park

The Main Street Bridge formerly carried Main Street over the Rippowam River (also known as Mill River) just outside downtown Stamford, Connecticut. It was designed and manufactured by the Berlin Iron Bridge Company in 1888. It is a two-span wrought iron lenticular truss bridge, each span 60 feet (18 m) long, although there are supporting piers every 12 feet (3.7 m) feet. The abutments and central pier are cut granite and other stone, faced in concrete.: 11 The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, at which time it was the only lenticular truss bridge on a major artery in the state. The bridge is (as of 2014) only open to pedestrian traffic.

Park Tower Stamford (formerly known as Trump Parc Stamford, and temporarily as Parc Stamford) is a 36-story condominium property located at 1 Broad Street in Stamford, Connecticut. Real estate developers Thomas Rich and Louis R. Cappelli began planning the project as Park Tower in February 2006; it was renamed as Trump Parc Stamford later that year, after Donald Trump joined the project, and again renamed Park Tower Stamford following the 2021 storming of the United States Capitol. Trump Parc was initially rejected by the city, as it was considered too large for its 0.5-acre (0.20 ha) site. A revised, smaller version of the project was approved in November 2006, and a groundbreaking ceremony was held in May 2007. Construction was delayed twice in 2008, after several construction incidents. The building finally opened in September 2009 as the tallest building in Stamford. In 2015, during Trump's presidential campaign, Muslim groups in Stamford launched an unsuccessful attempt to have his name removed from the building after he proposed a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States. However, the condo board ultimately declined to renew their contract with The Trump Organization after it expired in December 2020, and they renamed the building the following year.

St. Andrew's Episcopal Church is a historic church at 1231 Washington Boulevard in Stamford, Connecticut. Built in 1860 and consecrated on May 8, 1861, Saint Andrew's Church was originally a mission of St. John's Church Stamford until its incorporation as a parish on June 12, 1865. Saint Andrew's was the first free church in the diocese where parishioners did not have to pay a pew rental fee. St. Andrew's was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 as St. Andrew's Protestant Episcopal Church. Its church and parish hall are fine examples of Gothic architecture designed by Henry Hudson Holly.

The Old Town Hall is located in the Downtown section of Stamford, Connecticut. It is located at the southwest corner of Main and Atlantic Streets, occupying a portion of a triangular block bounded on the south by Bank Street. The rest of the block is occupied by the modern portion of Stamford's city hall. The building is an elegant Beaux Arts structure, designed by the New York City firm of Mellon and Jossely and built in 1905.In the 1960s, city officials began to leave it for larger buildings. In the 1980s it was said to be abandoned, and left so for approximately 20 years. In 2001, with the help of state grants, the city began a renovation. In recent years, it has been rented to businesses as an office space.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 2, 1972.

The Linden Apartments are a historic multiunit apartment house at 10–12 Linden Pl. in Stamford, Connecticut. It is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame Second Empire style building with a mansard roof, and projecting window bays. Built in 1886, it is the most architecturally distinctive tenement house in the city, and is its oldest surviving six-unit building. It was probably built by George Hoyt, one Stamford's leading 19th-century real estate developers.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Downtown Stamford, or Stamford Downtown, is the central business district of the city of Stamford, Connecticut, United States. It includes major retail establishments, a shopping mall, a university campus, the headquarters of major corporations and Fortune 500 companies, as well as other retail businesses, hotels, restaurants, offices, entertainment venues and high-rise apartment buildings. Since 2000, new development has consumed much of the Downtown area, with the additions of new high-rise buildings and office towers such as the 34-story Park Tower Stamford formerly Trump Parc Stamford, parks such as the new Mill River Park, and housing such as the new 17-story Highgrove Condominium Residences. Other development projects include new student housing at the UCONN Stamford branch, residential housing, and the planned Ritz-Carlton Stamford development, which will include two 39-story hotel/condominium towers. The city also plans to make improvements to the Atlantic Street underpass beneath the New Haven Line railroad tracks just east of the Stamford Transportation Center in order to alleviate a traffic bottleneck. The improvements are also meant to allow quicker evacuation of areas of the South End if disaster strikes. The project received a $245,000 earmark in the federal budget passed in December 2007.

The Basilica of Saint John the Evangelist is a Catholic parish church and minor basilica in Stamford, Connecticut, USA. It was founded in the 1850s and the current church was built in 1868 to meet the increasing needs of the congregation. It serves a multi-lingual congregation, including descendants of the original congregation.

Stamford Hospital, residing on the Bennett Medical Center campus, is a 305-bed, not-for-profit hospital and the central facility for Stamford Health. The hospital is regional healthcare facility for Fairfield and Westchester counties, and is the only hospital in the city of Stamford, Connecticut. Stamford Hospital is the largest teaching affiliate of the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons outside of NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center (NYP/CUIMC). The faculty at Stamford hospital have academic appointments from the university, as well as Columbia-affiliated physician residency training programs. Columbia medical students rotate through several departments at Stamford Hospital, including Primary Care, Family Medicine, Surgery, and Obstetrics & Gynecology.As of 2005, Stamford Hospital had a total of 2,254 employees, making it one of the city's largest employers. A large segment are represented by the New England Health Care Employees Union, District 1199, affiliated with the Service Employees International Union.

Stamford () is a city in Fairfield County, Connecticut, 34 miles (55 kilometers) outside of Manhattan. It is Connecticut's second-most populous city, behind Bridgeport. With a population of 135,470, Stamford passed Hartford and New Haven in population as of the 2020 census. It is in the Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk-Danbury metropolitan statistical area, which is part of the New York City metropolitan area (specifically, the New York–Newark, NY–NJ–CT–PA Combined Statistical Area). As of 2019, Stamford is home to nine Fortune 500 companies and numerous divisions of large corporations. This gives it the largest financial district in the New York metropolitan region outside New York City and one of the nation's largest concentrations of corporations. Dominant sectors of Stamford's economy include financial services, tourism, information technology, healthcare, telecommunications, transportation, and retail. Its metropolitan division is home to colleges and universities including UConn Stamford and Norwalk Community College.

J.M. Wright Technical High School, or Wright Tech, is a technical high school located in Stamford, Connecticut, United States. It is part of the Connecticut Technical High School System. Having suspended operations in 2009 due to budgetary restrictions, Wright Tech reopened its doors in 2014 to 144 first-year students after undergoing an $85 million renovation. During the groundbreaking ceremony, Connecticut Technical High School System Superintendent, Dr. Nivea L. Torres, referred to Wright Tech as the "flagship for the district." By 2017, the school expects to be at capacity with nearly 600 students.Prior to closing, the school offered training in seven trades. For the class of 2007, the most popular were automotive, electrical, and hairdressing. In 2014, Wright Tech offered nine rigorous trade programs to students, including the system's first facilities management program, which has since become the most advanced program of its kind in the nation.Students come from Stamford, Norwalk, Easton, Fairfield, Weston, Wilton, Westport, New Canaan, Greenwich, and Bridgeport. In recent years, more students have been coming from the immediate Stamford area. In the class of 2008, 38 percent of students were from local school districts and 62 percent from Bridgeport. However, in the class of 2011, 82 percent of students were from Stamford.Trailblazers Academy, a charter school with 150 students in grades 6 through 8 and run by the nonprofit Domus Foundation of Stamford, was housed in the Wright Tech building starting 2000, though it has since moved to downtown Stamford. Many Trailblazers students are those who have struggled in traditional schools. As of the 2006–2007 school year, about 98 percent of the students were from Stamford.

The Rippowam River is a river in Fairfield County, Connecticut and Westchester County, New York (United States). It drains a watershed area of 37.5 square miles (97 km2) and flows for 17 miles (27 km) from Ridgefield to Long Island Sound, which it enters in Stamford's harbor.Streamflow in the Rippowam River is controlled by several small dams. The Turn-of-River Bridge, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, crosses it. The river has been dammed to form both the North Stamford Reservoir in North Stamford, and the Laurel Reservoir on the Stamford/New Canaan border. The lower eight miles of Rippowam River, from the North Stamford Reservoir to Harbor Point (Stamford), are known as "Mill River" according to the Trust for Public Land, although U.S. Geological Survey maps and documents based on them don't reflect this information. The upper part of the river, in Westchester County, is also called Mill River, as shown in USGS maps Variant names for the Rippowam River include Mill River, Collins Brook, Mud Pond Brook, Rippowan River, Scotts Corner Brook, Stamford Mill River, Stoneford Mill River, Tomok River, and Turn River, according to the US Board on Geographic Names.Architect Philip Johnson built his Glass House on the eastern slope of the Rippowam River valley in New Canaan in the late 1940s to take advantage of the view of the valley formed by the river.
