WGWW (channel 40) is a television station licensed to Anniston, Alabama, United States, serving the eastern portion of the Birmingham market as an affiliate of the digital multicast network Heroes & Icons. The station is owned by Howard Stirk Holdings, a partner company of the Sinclair Broadcast Group. WGWW's transmitter is located at Bald Rock Mountain (off of Kelly Creek Road), near Moody in unincorporated southern St. Clair County. WGWW operates as a full-time satellite of Tuscaloosa-licensed WSES (channel 33), whose advertising sales office is located on Golden Crest Drive in Birmingham. WGWW covers areas of northeastern Alabama that receive a marginal to non-existent over-the-air signal from WSES, although there is significant overlap between the two stations' contours otherwise, including in Birmingham proper. WGWW is a straight simulcast of WSES; on-air references to WGWW are limited to Federal Communications Commission (FCC)-mandated hourly station identifications during programming. Aside from the transmitter, WGWW does not maintain any physical presence locally in Anniston. Through a time-brokerage agreement (TBA) with Sinclair, WGWW's second digital subchannel serves as a repeater of ABC affiliate WBMA-LD (channel 58), of which WGWW had served as a full-time satellite station on its main feed from September 1996 to September 2014.

Moody High School is a four-year public high school in the Birmingham, Alabama suburb of Moody. It is one of five high schools in the St. Clair County School System. School colors are navy blue and Vegas gold, and the athletic teams are called the Blue Devils. Moody competes in AHSAA Class 5A athletics.The current Moody High School campus was constructed in 2002 at a cost of $8.2 million.

Branchville is a former town in St. Clair County, Alabama in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the population of the town was 825.

Odenville is a city in St. Clair County, Alabama, United States. It incorporated in 1914. At the 2010 census the population was 3,585, up from 1,131 in 2000. It annexed the former town of Branchville in 2007. Odenville annexed a portion of Springville in 2015 due to Springville not running water to some of its residences.

Pell City High School is the only public high school serving the Pell City School System. The school has approx. 1,813 students in grades 9-12 and just recently finished adding on a $7.5 million multi-purpose building which houses a 2200-seat sports arena as well as a 400-seat theatre. The school offers an advanced diploma track that allows students to take honors classes in math, and the sciences, and honors or AP classes in English, Chemistry, and History. The school partners with the local community college to allow some students to take freshman college courses half a school day or at night.

Margaret is a city in St. Clair County, Alabama, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 5,106. As of the 2010 census, the population is 4,428, an increase of 278.8%. Margaret incorporated in 1960 and became a city in October 2011.

The Avondale Mill Historic District is a former mill village in Pell City, Alabama. Part of the Avondale Mills, the area is architecturally significant for the first sawtooth roofed mill in Alabama, and the mill village represents a relatively intact example of an early 20th century company town. The mill and its village were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. The mill closed in 2006, and burned in 2008 while being dismantled for scrap.

Pell City is a city in and one of the county seats of St. Clair County, Alabama, United States, the other seat being Ashville. At the 2020 census, the population was 12,939. At the 2010 census, the city-limit population jumped to 12,695.It was home to Avondale Mills and its legacy in the Avondale Mill Historic District.

Cropwell, also known as Coosa or Coosa Valley, is a neighborhood of Pell City, Alabama, United States. Cropwell is a small town and an unincorporated community. Cropwell is located along Alabama State Route 34, 2.5 miles (4.0 km) south-southwest of downtown Pell City. Cropwell has its own post office with ZIP code 35054. Cropwell was originally called Coosa or Coosa Valley until 1837, when it began to be called Cropwell. A post office operated under the name Coosa during 1833 and 1834. A post office was then established under the name Cropwell in 1837.

St. Clair County is a county located in the central portion of the U.S. state of Alabama. As of the 2020 census, the population was 91,103. It has two county seats: Ashville and Pell City. It is one of two counties in Alabama, and one of 33 in the United States, with more than one county seat. Its name is in honor of General Arthur St. Clair, an officer in the French and Indian War. St. Clair County is included in the Birmingham-Hoover, Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area.

St. Clair Correctional Facility is an Alabama state men's prison located in Springville, St. Clair County, Alabama. The prison was originally built in 1983, and has an operating capacity of 1,514 inmates. The current warden is Guy Noe.The facility was built in 1983. In April 1985 it was site of a major riot. Five employees were beaten and 22 others including the warden and his deputy were held hostage by inmates armed with guns. The prisoners complained of "barbaric conditions." Within a year period ending September 2014, six inmates had been killed in the facility. The Alabama non-profit Equal Justice Initiative had already called for a change in leadership three months prior, after inmate Jodey Waldrop was killed in the early morning hours of June 3, for what they described as a pattern of serious neglect and violence, including an incident when the then-warden punched a handcuffed prisoner. As of June 2014 the prison was at 130 percent capacity.Press reports indicate that the facility is in a lawless condition. One expert cited "a total breakdown of the necessary basic structures that are required to operate a prison safely."In March 2016 a correctional officer was wounded by a knife, trying to break up a fight. On May 13, 2016, another inmate was found dead of unknown causes.In June 2016 the Equal Justice Initiative filed a motion in federal court arguing that "severe overcrowding, understaffing and dangerous conditions violate the prisoners' constitutional rights," and that the prison's severe understaffing poses a safety risk to guards and correctional officers. The facility runs at 59.5% of full staffing levels, giving it a inmate-to-staff ratio among the highest in U.S. prisons. In the fiscal year ending in September 2016, there were 249 reported assaults at St. Clair.
