Estaline Schoolhouse

The Augusta Correctional Center was a state prison for men located near Craigsville in Augusta County, Virginia, United States. Owned and operated by the Virginia Department of Corrections, the facility opened in 1986 and had a working capacity of 1,222 prisoners held at a level 3 security level. Inmates must have no disruptive behavior for 2 years in order to be considered to be transferred to a less secure facility.

Goshen and Little North Mountain Wildlife Management Area is a protected area located in Rockbridge and Augusta counties, Virginia. At 33,697 acres (136.37 km2), it is the largest Wildlife Management Area managed by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. The area comprises two parcels of land bisected by the Maury River; the lowest terrain is 1,326 feet (404 m) above sea level, while the highest is 3,400 feet (1,000 m). Three major mountains (Bratton, Forge, and Hogback) are found within the heavily forested area, in addition to a lesser amount of native herbaceous habitat. Goshen and Little North Mountain Wildlife Management Area lies adjacent to George Washington National Forest and the Goshen Pass Natural Area Preserve. It is open to the public for hunting, trapping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, and primitive camping. Access for persons 17 years of age or older requires a valid hunting or fishing permit, or a WMA access permit.

Craigsville School, also known as Craigsville Grammar School, is a historic public school building located at Craigsville, Augusta County, Virginia. It was built in 1917, and is a large, two-story symmetrical rectangular brick building with a full double-pile, central-passage plan. It features a one-story, wooden entrance portico and original wooden belfry atop the low-pitched hipped roof in the Colonial Revival style. The school closed in 1968, and was converted to 14 apartments in 1982–1984. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Craigsville is a town in Augusta County, Virginia, United States. The population was 923 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Staunton–Waynesboro Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Moffett's Creek Schoolhouse is a historic public school building located near Newport, Augusta County, Virginia. It was built in 1873, as a two-room, frame schoolhouse. It sits on a fieldstone foundation and has a gable roof. An addition was built in the 1880s, creating an L-shaped plan. The school closed in 1923, and the property was sold to the Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Newport is an unincorporated community in Augusta County, Virginia, United States. Newport is located on Virginia State Route 252 7 miles (11 km) southeast of Craigsville. The Moffett's Creek Schoolhouse and Walker's Creek Schoolhouse are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Summerdean is located at the junction of State Routes 602 and 603 11.3 miles (18.2 km) west-southwest of Staunton. The Glebe Schoolhouse, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located near Summerdean.

Maple Front Farm, also known as Locust Front Farm and W. K. Clemmer Farm, is a historic home and farm complex located near Middlebrook, Augusta County, Virginia. The house was built about 1900, and is a two-story, three-bay, frame I-house. Also on the property are a contributing washhouse, meat house, wood house, acetylene gas-generating structure, farm bell tower, garage, and granary.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

A. J. Miller House, also known as the Miller-Hemp House, is a historic home located near Middlebrook, Augusta County, Virginia. It was built in 1884, and is a two-story, three-bay, brick dwelling in the Italianate style. It features a central Italianate entrance and tripartite second-floor window, and paired interior chimneys. The interior features a wide variety of painted decoration by itinerant artist Green Berry Jones, who signed and dated his work June 17, 1892. They include large, brightly painted landscapes; vignettes; and woodgraining and marbleizing. Also on the property are five contributing outbuildings: two barns and a granary, a carriage house and chicken house.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Kennedy-Wade Mill, or Wade's Mill, is a grist mill and national historic district located in Raphine, Virginia and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was originally built c. 1750 by Captain Joseph Kennedy. In 1846 the mill was sold by the Kennedy family to Henry B. Jones, who expanded and improved the mill. After passing to other owners in 1867, the mill was damaged by fire in 1873. It was rebuilt and leased to (and later bought by) James F. Wade, and put back into use in November 1882. The Wade family continued to operate it for four generations. It was bought in 1991 by Jim Young, and is still functioning today. The mill grinds flour using millstones and a 21-foot overshot water wheel. The flour is shipped to restaurants and livestock farmers. Nearby and also part of the Kennedy-Wade's Mill Historic District are the miller's house and other houses and outbuildings structures forming the small mill community.
