Millway railway station

The former Royal Ordnance Factory (ROF), Radway Green manufactures small arms ammunition for the British armed forces. It is located in the hamlet of Radway Green near Barthomley near Alsager in Cheshire in the UK.

Radway Green & Barthomley railway station was built by the North Staffordshire Railway (NSR) and served the small Cheshire communities of Radway Green, Oakhanger and Barthomley. Located on the NSR line between Crewe and Kidsgrove it was the first station on the route from Crewe. During the Second World War the station was the terminating point for many trains transporting workers to and from the nearby ROF Radway Green. This situation continued until a new station, Millway was built at the factory in 1942.

Alsager ( AWL-say-jər) is a town and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire East in Cheshire, England. It is located to the north-west of Stoke-on-Trent and east of Crewe. The town's population was 13,389 at the 2021 census.Alsager has hosted an annual summer carnival since 1998; until June 2009, it was located in Milton Park, but it had since moved to the Alsager School playing fields to increase capacity, until moving back to Milton Park in 2017.In 2008, Alsager was awarded Fairtrade Town status by the Fairtrade Foundation.

The White Lion is a public house in Barthomley, Cheshire, England, just off junction 16 of the M6. It was built in 1614, and is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building.It is on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors. Its thatched roof was damaged by a fire in 2013, but it re-opened later that year. In September 2023, its lease expired and the pub was closed for repairs.

St Bertoline's Church is in the village of Barthomley, Cheshire, England. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building. It is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Macclesfield and the deanery of Congleton.The church stands in the centre of the village, in an elevated position on Barrow Hill, which was an ancient burial ground. It was the scene of a massacre in the English Civil War. Raymond Richards considered it to be one of the most beautiful churches in the county, and believed it was the only one in England to be dedicated to Saint Bertoline. The church stands above the road and is reached by a flight of steps.

Barthomley is a village and ancient parish, and is now a civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire East and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. According to the 2001 and the 2011 census' the parish had a population of 202. The village is situated near junction 16 of the M6 motorway and by the border with Staffordshire. It is about three miles south-west of Alsager. The hamlet of Radway Green, location of a Royal Ordnance Factory, is within the parish, north-east of the village of Barthomley and just outside Alsager. There was a railway station in Radway Green, on the Crewe to Derby Line, as well as a station reserved for the factory at Millway. However, both of these are now closed. Radway Green and Barthomley station closed to goods traffic on 7 June 1964, followed by its closure to passengers on 7 November 1966.
