Spring Hill (Ivy, Virginia)

D. S. Tavern, also known as the 1740 House, is a historic tavern located at Ivy, Albemarle County, Virginia. The building dates to the late 18th to early 19th century. It is a two-story, single pile, log and frame I-house, covered in beaded weatherboards. It sits on a brick and rubblestone foundation and has a gable roof pierced by two brick chimneys. It has an early-19th-century, one-story kitchen connected by a hyphen. From 1785 to about 1850, the tavern served the westward movement of settlers along the turnpike running from Richmond to the Valley. The tavern was owned by Chief Justice John Marshall, who maintained the property from 1810 to 1813. In the mid- to late 19th century, it was converted to a private residence.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Ragged Mountains are a small chain of rugged hills—an offshoot of the Blue Ridge Mountains—southwest of Charlottesville, Virginia. 980 acres (4.0 km2) have been preserved as the Ragged Mountain Natural Area. The region provided the atmospheric setting for Edgar Allan Poe's short story, "A Tale of the Ragged Mountains", which described it as a "chain of wild and dreary hills." Poe was familiar with the area from his days as a student at the University of Virginia. The Ragged Mountain Natural Area was established in 1997 and opened to the public in 1999. It encompasses a reservoir for the city of Charlottesville and the surrounding watershed, forested primarily with oak and yellow poplar.

The Boar's Head Resort, formerly known as the Boar's Head Inn, is a hotel and resort usually described as being in Charlottesville, Virginia but in fact located in Albemarle County, Virginia just outside the city. The resort is situated on 573 acres (0.895 sq mi) and includes a golf course (the Birdwood Golf Course), 26 tennis courts, and a spa and fitness center.The hotel was built in 1962 and 1963 based on a design by architects Johnson, Craven & Gibson. As a centerpiece for the hotel, an 1835 grist mill, known for many years as the Eulus Mill, was dismantled and moved to the property. The Boar's Head opened in 1964 with 54 rooms. It was expanded in 1979 with 73 additional rooms and two additional meeting areas.In 1989, owner John Rogan sold the Boar's Head to the University of Virginia Real Estate Foundation (UREF). UREF lent $10 million to the Boar's head in 1999 to finance renovations and improvements to guest rooms, restaurants, common areas, and athletic facilities.The Boar's Head Inn was later re-branded as the Boar's Head Resort. In 2012, the property underwent a $9-million renovation of its guest rooms.

Ednam House is a historic home located near Ednam, Albemarle County, Virginia. It was designed by Richmond architect D. Wiley Anderson in Colonial Revival style. It was built about 1905, and is a two-story, wood-frame structure sheathed in weatherboards and set on a low, brick foundation. The main block is covered by a steep deck-on-hip roof, with tall, brick, pilastered chimneys with corbeled caps projecting from the roof on each elevation. Attached to the main block are a series of rear ells covered by low-hipped roofs. The front facade features an original colossal two-story portico consisting of four unfluted Ionic order columns.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Farmington is a house near Charlottesville, in Albemarle County, Virginia, that was greatly expanded by a design by Thomas Jefferson that Jefferson executed while he was President of the United States. The original house was built in the mid-18th century for Francis Jerdone on a 1,753-acre (709 ha) property. Jerdone sold the land and house to George Divers, a friend of Jefferson, in 1785. In 1802, Divers asked Jefferson to design an expansion of the house. The house, since greatly enlarged, is now a clubhouse.

Home Tract, also known as Woodville, is a historic home located at Ivy, Albemarle County, Virginia. The main house consists of a 2½-story, hall-parlor-plan frame dwelling with a two-story brick addition. A frame rear ell was added to the brick section about 1920. The interiors feature late Georgian and Greek Revival-style detailing. Also on the property is "The Cottage," one-story frame building with a stucco exterior, a metal-sheathed gable roof, and a Victorian front porch; a meathouse, and wellhouse.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

The Blue Ridge Swim Club is a historic swimming club facility at 1275 Owensville Road in Ivy, Virginia. The property includes a swimming pool that was built in 1913, when the area was developed as part of the Blue Ridge Camp for boys. The concrete pool is 100 yards (91 m) long and 10 yards (9.1 m) wide, with a sloping floor ranging in depth from 30 inches (0.76 m) to 10 feet (3.0 m). The pool's water is supplied from Ivy Brook via a gravity feed system. The pool is one of the oldest outdoor recreational facilities in the state.The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015, primarily for the significance of its swimming pool.
