Louviers (Wilmington, Delaware)

Lower Louviers and Chicken Alley, also known as Louviers and Duck Street, is a historic home located near Wilmington in New Castle County, Delaware. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

Husbands Run is a 1.71 mi (2.75 km) long tributary to Brandywine Creek in New Castle County, Delaware north of Wilmington, Delaware. It rises in Woodley Park between the Tavistock Woodbrook, Sharpley and Edenridge neighborhoods. It flows through DuPont Country Club, where it is joined by the Willow Run and mouths north of Delaware Route 141. The Husbands were early settlers to the region.

From 1802 to 1921, Eleutherian Mills was a gunpowder mill site used for the manufacture of explosives founded by Eleuthère Irénée du Pont, which grew into the DuPont company. The name also refers to the house on the hill above the mills, which was the first du Pont family home in America. In 1957 the site became an outdoor museum when the Hagley Museum and Library was founded. The site was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1966.

The Hagley Museum and Library is a nonprofit educational institution in unincorporated New Castle County, Delaware, near Wilmington. Covering more than 235 acres (95 ha) along the banks of the Brandywine Creek, the museum and grounds include the first du Pont family home and garden in the United States, the powder yards, and a 19th-century machine shop. On the hillside below the mansion lies a Renaissance Revival garden, with terraces and statuary, created in the 1920s by Louise Evelina du Pont Crowninshield (1877–1958).

Brandywine Manufacturers Sunday School, also known as Sunday School and Hagley Office, is a historic Sunday school building located near Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. It was built in 1817, and is a one-story, rectangular stone building. It measures 31 feet by 65 feet and features an Ionic order columned portico and school bell tower. Also on the property is a contributing spring house. It was built for workers, old and young, to learn the basics of reading, writing, and "ciphering," and remained in use as a school until 1851. From 1902 to 1921, it was the Hagley Yard office of the E. I. du Pont de Nemours Company. It was then converted to a private dwelling.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The Jacob Broom House, also known historically as Hagley, is a historic house on Christchurch Road near Montchanin, Delaware. It was built in 1795 by Jacob Broom, one of the Delaware signers of the United States Constitution. The house was purchased in 1802 by Éleuthère Irénée du Pont, progenitor of the prominent Du Pont family and founder of the DuPont chemical concern, who established the Eleutherian Mills below the house on the banks of Brandywine Creek. The house, which remains in the hands of Du Pont descendants, was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1974, for its association with Broom.

The 1995 LPGA Championship was the 41st LPGA Championship, played May 11–14 at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware. Kelly Robbins won her only major title, one stroke ahead of defending champion Laura Davies. Robbins had led after each of the first two rounds, but fell a stroke behind leader Davies after 54 holes. In a cool rain on Sunday, Robbins birdied three of the final seven holes to pass Davies for the win.This was the second of eleven consecutive LPGA Championships at DuPont Country Club. It was the richest major on tour from 1990 through this year, passed by the U.S. Women's Open in 1996.

The 1998 LPGA Championship was the 44th LPGA Championship, played May 14–17 at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware. This was the second of four major championships on the LPGA Tour in 1998. Twenty-year-old rookie Se Ri Pak led wire-to-wire to win the first of her five majors, three strokes ahead of runners-up Donna Andrews and Lisa Hackney. Less than two months later, Pak won the next major, the U.S. Women's Open. The DuPont Country Club hosted this championship for eleven consecutive seasons, from 1994 through 2004.

The 1994 LPGA Championship was the 40th LPGA Championship, played May 12–15 at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware. Laura Davies shot a final round 68 to win the first of her two LPGA Championship titles, three strokes ahead of runner-up Alice Ritzman. It was the second of her four major titles. This was the first of eleven consecutive LPGA Championships at DuPont, which had hosted the McDonald's Championship, a regular tour event, the previous seven seasons. McDonald's sponsored the LPGA Championship for sixteen editions, from 1994 through 2009.Davies had won the regular tour event at DuPont the previous year for consecutive victories at the course.

The 2004 LPGA Championship was the 50th LPGA Championship, played June 10–13 at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware. Defending champion Annika Sörenstam won the second of her three consecutive LPGA championships, three strokes ahead of runner-up Shi Hyun Ahn. Due to heavy rains on Friday, the final 36 holes were played on Sunday. It was the seventh of Sörenstam's ten major titles. Beginning in 1994, the DuPont Country Club hosted this championship for eleven consecutive seasons, ending with this edition. The next five were played in nearby Maryland, at Bulle Rock Golf Course in Havre de Grace.

The McDonald's Championship was a women's professional golf tournament on the LPGA Tour from 1981 through 1993. The first six years were hosted by White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pennsylvania, northwest of Philadelphia. In 1987, it moved a short distance south to DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware.The tournament was founded by Herb Lotman, founder and CEO of Keystone Foods. His co-founder was Frank Quinn. The 28 year old tournament is still the largest fundraiser in the history of golf donating over $47 million to charity. Herb Lotman was quoted as saying, "everything we did, we did for 'the kids'." In its first year in 1981, the purse was $150,000 with a winner's share of $22,500, won by Sandra Post. The last edition in 1993 had a purse of $900,000; Laura Davies won by a stroke and took the $135,000 winner's share.Beginning in 1994, McDonald's sponsored the next sixteen editions of the LPGA Championship, one of the tour's four major championships, and the regular tour event was retired. Play continued at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington from 1994 through 2004, then moved in 2005 to Bulle Rock Golf Course in nearby Havre de Grace, Maryland. After the 2009 edition, McDonald's ended its 29-year relationship with the LPGA Tour.

The 2000 LPGA Championship was the 46th LPGA Championship, played June 22–25 at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware. This was the second of four major championships on the LPGA Tour in 2000. Defending champion Juli Inkster won her second consecutive LPGA Championship on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff with Stefania Croce, and became the first to successfully defend the title since 1984. On Saturday, her 40th birthday, Inkster was the 54-hole co-leader with Wendy Ward after a 65 (−6). On a blustery Sunday, she had a three-shot lead with five holes to play, but made a double bogey on 14 and missed a six-foot (1.8 m) par putt on the final hole for 75. In the sudden-death playoff, Inkster parred both holes to win the sixth of her seven major titles.The DuPont Country Club hosted this championship for eleven consecutive seasons, from 1994 through 2004.
