Sant'Agostino is a Roman Catholic church located in Massa Marittima, region of Tuscany, Italy. The church has Gothic and Renaissance architecture elements in the apse (1350) and choir (1520) respectively. The church with stone facade was begun in 1299 for the Augustinian order, but the apse was completed by 1350 in a gothic style with tall narrow windows. The interior has a Sant'Guglielmo by Antonio Nasini, an Annunciation (1640) by Jacopo da Empoli and a Madonna, Child, and Saints and Annunciation (1639) by Rutilio Manetti. The church once housed for some years a Maestà by Ambrogio Lorenzetti, originally made for the nearby Oratory of San Pietro all'Orto, and now held in the city gallery.

The Diocese of Massa Marittima-Piombino (Latin: Dioecesis Massana-Plumbinensis) is a Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church in Tuscany, central Italy. It was known as Diocese of Massa Marittima before 1978. Up until 1458, it was a suffragan of the archdiocese of Pisa; since 1458, it has been a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Siena. The territory of the diocese includes the islands of Elba and Pianosa, and (up to 1817) Capraia.

Formerly the episcopal seat of the Diocese of Massa Marittima, it is now that of the Diocese of Massa Marittima-Piombino.

Montemassi is a village in Tuscany, central Italy, administratively part of the comune of Roccastrada, in the province of Grosseto. It is located on a hill about 140 m (460 ft) above sea level. The village originated as a fortified village of the Aldobrandeschi family. The Republic of Siena conquered it in the mid-13th century, but in the following century it was held by the Pannocchieschi and the Cappucciani of Sticciano families. In 1328 it was conquered by the condottiero Guidoriccio da Fogliano, fighting for Siena; the event is depicted in a famous fresco in the Palazzo Pubblico of Siena. In the mid-16th century it became part of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, following its history thenceforth. It features a large polygonal rocca and a line of walls.

Ribolla is a village in southern Tuscany, a frazione of the comune of Roccastrada, in the province of Grosseto. At the time of the 2001 census its population amounted to 2,115.In 1954, a mine exploded killing forty-three workers. The incident was reported by Luciano Bianciardi and Carlo Cassola in the essay I minatori della Maremma (The miners of Maremma), and has been a source of inspiration for Bianciardi's novel La vita agra and for the film of the same name directed by Carlo Lizzani.
