The Byram Township School District is a comprehensive community public school district that serves students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade from Byram Township, in Sussex County, New Jersey, United States.As of the 2017–18 school year, the district and its two schools had an enrollment of 843 students and 87.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 9.7:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "I", the second-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.For public school students in ninth through twelfth grades, the township shares Lenape Valley Regional High School, which also serves Netcong in Morris County and the Sussex County community of Stanhope. As of the 2017–18 school year, the high school had an enrollment of 706 students and 60.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.8:1. Students from Byram Township had attended Sparta High School until 1974, when the Lenape Valley district was created.

Lubbers Run is a creek running through Byram Township and Sparta in Sussex County in northwestern New Jersey. It is a tributary of the Musconetcong River, joining near Waterloo Village. The Lubbers Run Preserve is a 90-acre (36 ha) nature preserve in Byram Township.

Byram Township is a township in Sussex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 8,028, a decrease of 322 (−3.9%) from the 2010 census count of 8,350, which in turn reflected an increase of 96 (+1.2%) from the 8,254 counted in the 2000 census.The municipality is known as the "Township of Lakes", as there are roughly two dozen lakes and ponds within its borders.

Lake Lackawanna was created by the removal of fill material for the creation of Lubber Run Fill on the Lackawanna Cut-Off in northwest New Jersey, United States. The lake is fed by Lubbers Run, which was dammed when this section of the Cut-Off was constructed during the years 1908–1911.

Cage Hill is a conical hill in Sussex County, New Jersey. The summit rises to 846 feet (258 m), overlooking the confluence of Lubbers Run and the Musconetcong River to the south, and Jefferson Lake to the north. It is part of the New York–New Jersey Highlands of the Appalachian Mountains.

Lenape Valley Regional High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school and school district in serving students in ninth through twelfth grades from two municipalities in Sussex County and one in Morris County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The communities served by the high school are Byram Township and Stanhope Borough in Sussex County and Netcong Borough in Morris County. The school is located in Stanhope.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 657 students and 54.1 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.1:1. There were 45 students (6.8% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 13 (2.0% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "GH", the third-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.Lenape Valley had been the only high school in Sussex County with a planetarium. In February 2016, the board of education voted to eliminate the planetarium and use the space for science labs.

Stanhope is a borough in Sussex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 3,526, a decrease of 84 (−2.3%) from the 2010 census count of 3,610, which in turn reflected an increase of 26 (+0.7%) from the 3,584 counted in the 2000 census.Stanhope was formed by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 24, 1904, from portions of Byram Township.

Musconetcong County was a proposed county in New Jersey, which was to be created from parts of Hunterdon and Warren counties.

Wharton Fill is one of a number of fills (embankments) on the Lackawanna Cut-Off railroad line in northwest New Jersey. Located between mileposts 51.1 and 51.6 in Byram Township, the fill was constructed between 1908 and 1911 by contractor David W. Flickwir. The fill, which was created by placing fill material obtained by blasting with dynamite or other methods, is about 0.5 miles (0.64 km) long. Most of the material that was used to create Wharton Fill was excavated from the surrounding low-lying area through which Pumpkin Run runs; several of the borrow pits have since flooded and become ponds. Wharton Fill is located on a tangent (straight) section of right-of-way, permitting 80 mph (113 km/h), and is just west of Lubber Run Fill and just east of Roseville Tunnel. This section is scheduled to receive a single track as part of the reactivation of the line, which was abandoned in 1983. NJ Transit rail service is projected to begin no earlier than 2026. Wharton Fill is named for the Wharton Steel Company, from whom this section of right-of-way was acquired.

Roseville Tunnel is a 1,024-foot (312 m) two-track railroad tunnel on the Lackawanna Cut-Off in Byram Township, Sussex County, New Jersey. The tunnel is on a straight section of railroad between mileposts 51.6 and 51.8 (83 km), about 6 miles (9.7 km) north by northwest of Port Morris Junction. Operated for freight and passenger service from 1911 to 1979, it is undergoing work intended to return it to passenger service by 2026.

Lubber Run Fill is a fill on the Lackawanna Cut-Off railroad line in northwest New Jersey. Located between mileposts 50.1 and 50.5 in Byram Township, it was built between 1908 and 1911 by contractor Waltz & Reece Construction Company. It is 0.40 miles (0.64 km) long, has an average height of 64 feet (20 m), and a maximum height of 98 feet (30 m). Most of its 720,000 cubic yards (550500 m3) of fill material was excavated from the surrounding low-lying area. Lubber Run Fill is named for the Lubbers Run (the "s" was added to the stream's name sometime after the construction of the Cut-Off), which passes under the fill. A dam was built under the fill on the north side of the embankment, creating Dallis Pond, which flows into Lake Lackawanna. Lubber Run Fill supports a tangent (straight) section of right-of-way that permits speeds of 70 mph (113 km/h). It sits just east of Wharton Fill and just west of Bradbury Fill.A single track is to be relaid across the fill as part of the reactivation of the Cut-Off, which was abandoned in 1983. NJ Transit rail service is projected to begin no earlier than 2026.
