Włocławek Voivodeship

Włocławek (Polish: [vwɔˈt͡swavɛk] ; German: Leslau or Alt Lesle, Yiddish: וולאָצלאַוועק, romanized: Vlatzlavek) is a city in the Kuyavian–Pomeranian Voivodeship in central Poland along the Vistula River, bordered by the Gostynin-Włocławek Landscape Park. As of December 2021, the population of the city is 106,928. Founded in the 9th century, Włocławek is located in the historical region of Kuyavia, and was its administrative center and main city in the Middle Ages. Nowadays, Włocławek is the third largest city of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship (after Bydgoszcz and Toruń) and the main cultural and economic center of eastern Kuyavia. It is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Włocławek, one of the oldest dioceses in Poland, since the 12th century, with the landmark Gothic Włocławek Cathedral listed as a Historic Monument of Poland. Poland's largest hydroelectric power plant is also located there.

The Diocese of Włocławek (Latin: Dioecesis Vladislaviensis) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church in Poland. It is a suffragan in the ecclesiastical province of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Gniezno. Until the 20th century, it was known as the Diocese of Kujawy. The bishops' seat is Włocławek Cathedral, also a minor basilica: Bazylika Katedralna Wniebowzięcia NMP in the city of Włocławek, in Kujawsko-Pomorskie. The diocese has two more Minor Basilicas: Basilica of Our Lady of Licheń (Polish: Bazylika MB Bolesnej Królowej Polski), in Licheń Stary, Wielkopolskie Bazylika Wniebowzięcia NMP, in Zduńska Wola, Łódzkie. The diocese is currently headed by Bishop Krzysztof Jakub Wętkowski, appointed in 2021.

The Basilica Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption is a large Gothic building situated in the Polish city of Włocławek located near to the Vistula River. Construction on the cathedral began in the 1340s, and it was consecrated in 1411. It was still under construction in the 15th and at the beginning of the 16th century, until its completion in 1526. It is one of the greatest treasure troves of funerary art in Poland next to the cathedrals in Gniezno, Poznań and Kraków. In the years 1883–1901, the building was heavily regothicised, including exchange of details and elevation of both towers. It is a three-nave temple with a narrower and much lower presbytery. Among the monuments located inside, the following deserve particular attention: stained-glass windows from 1360, the tombstone of bishop Peter of Bnin from 1494, a wooden statue of Our Lady from the early fifteenth century and the painting of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary by John the Great from around 1480.

Włocławek railway station is a railway station serving the town of Włocławek, in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland. The station is located on the Kutno–Piła railway. The train services are operated by PKP and Przewozy Regionalne.

Hala Mistrzów (polish: Hall of Champions) is an arena in Włocławek, Poland. It is primarily used for basketball. Hala Mistrzow holds 4,200 people and hosts the home games of Anwil Włocławek.

Włocławek County (Polish: powiat włocławski) is a unit of territorial administration and local government (powiat) in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, north-central Poland. It came into being on January 1, 1999, as a result of the Polish local government reforms passed in 1998. Its administrative seat is the city of Włocławek, although the city is not part of the county (it constitutes a separate city county). The county contains six towns: Brześć Kujawski, which lies 12 km (7 mi) south-west of Włocławek, Kowal, which lies 15 km (9 mi) south-east of Włocławek, Lubraniec, which lies 19 km (12 mi) south-west of Włocławek, Izbica Kujawska, which lies 33 km (21 mi) south-west of Włocławek, Chodecz, which lies 28 km (17 mi) south of Włocławek, and Lubień Kujawski, 29 km (18 mi) south of Włocławek. The county covers an area of 1,472.34 square kilometres (568.5 sq mi). As of 2019 its total population is 86,131, out of which the population of Brześć Kujawski is 4,642, that of Kowal is 3,479, that of Lubraniec is 2,999, that of Izbica Kujawska is 2,609, that of Chodecz is 1,894, that of Lubień Kujawski is 1,391, and the rural population is 69,117.

Gmina Włocławek is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Włocławek County, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-central Poland. Its seat is the city of Włocławek, although the city is not part of the territory of the gmina. The gmina covers an area of 219.92 square kilometres (84.9 sq mi), and as of 2006 its total population is 6,322. The gmina contains part of the protected area called Gostynin-Włocławek Landscape Park.

Szpetal Górny [ˈʂpɛtal ˈɡurnɨ] is a small village in the administrative district of Gmina Fabianki, within Włocławek County, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, in central Poland. It lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) south of Fabianki, 6 km (4 mi) north-east of Włocławek, and 51 km (32 mi) south-east of Toruń.
