Bukit Tengah

Simpang Ampat, also known as Simpang Empat, is a small town in the district of South Seberang Perai, in the state of Penang, Malaysia. It borders Bukit Mertajam town to the north, Junjung town to the east, Sungai Bakap town to the south, and Batu Kawan town to the west.

Bukit Mertajam (Jawi:بوكيت مرتاجم) is the administrative centre of the city of Seberang Perai in Penang, Malaysia. It also serves as the seat of the Central Seberang Perai District. As of 2010, Bukit Mertajam (core) contains a total of 13,097 residents.Whilst founded in the 19th century as an agricultural area, Bukit Mertajam also evolved into a transportation hub, following the completion of a railway line towards Perai at the end of the century. To this day, its railway station remains a major Malayan Railway station within Seberang Perai. Bukit Mertajam is also well known for its Catholic congregation, which is centred at the St. Anne's Church. The church is one of the focal locations within Southeast Asia for the annual Novena celebrations.It is the birthplace of the two-time Leader of the Opposition and 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim.

The Central Seberang Perai District (Malay: Daerah Seberang Perai Tengah; abbreviated: "SPT") is a district in the state of Penang, Malaysia. It covers an area of 238 square kilometres, and had a population of 371,975 at the 2010 Census . The district is bordered by Perai River which separates North Seberang Perai in the north, Junjong River which separates South Seberang Perai in the south, Kedah state border in the east and South Channel which separates Penang Island. Juru River also flows through the district. The capital of this district is Bukit Mertajam. Other localities that are situated in Central Seberang Perai include Permatang Pauh, Penanti, Bukit Tengah, Bukit Minyak, Juru, Alma, Machang Bubok and Permatang Tinggi. The entertainment, eatery and automobile venue of Autocity is also located in this district. Heavy industrial areas cover most parts of Central Seberang Perai.

Founded in 1918, Jit Sin High School (Malay: Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Jit Sin; simplified Chinese: 日新国民型中学; traditional Chinese: 日新國民型中學; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Ji̍t-sin kok-bîn-hêng tiong-o̍h) is a co-educational Chinese vernacular secondary school in Bukit Mertajam, Penang. The school is known nationwide as a top elite school for its excellent academic results in public examinations such as Pentaksiran Tingkatan Tiga (PT3), Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) which was abolished in 2014, Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) consistently every year.

Seberang Perai is a city in the Malaysian state of Penang. It is situated on the Malay Peninsula opposite Penang Island, bordering Kedah to the north and east and Perak to the south. Its city centre is located in Butterworth, while its local authority, the Seberang Perai City Council, is centred near Bukit Mertajam. As of 2020, Seberang Perai had a population of 946,000, making it the third most populous city in Malaysia.Originally a part of Kedah, the territory containing the present-day city was ceded to the British East India Company in 1800. The British acquired Province Wellesley, as they subsequently named it, to provide more agricultural land and as a defensive bulwark against any cross-strait invasion of Penang Island from the mainland. Since then, it has become part of Penang, which was made a British crown colony in 1867. Seberang Perai has witnessed substantial economic development in the decades after Malaya's independence. Massive industrial estates have been established within Seberang Perai, while the relocation of the Port of Penang's core operations to Butterworth in 1974 has also boosted the city's economy. Improvements in connectivity and transportation were facilitated by several major projects, such as the constructions of the North–South Expressway, the Penang Bridge and the Second Penang Bridge. Today, Seberang Perai forms part of Greater Penang, the second largest conurbation in Malaysia.

Alma is a residential neighbourhood within the city of Seberang Perai in the Malaysian state of Penang. The AEON Mall Bukit Mertajam is located here and started operations in 2014.

Machang Bubok is a new village within the city of Seberang Perai in the Malaysian state of Penang. As of date November 2011, the Machang Bubok village has 2134 people and 85% of the population consists of Chinese. About 12% of them are Malays and less than 3% are Indians. The major language spoken in this village is Hakka. This village has about 421 houses. Many city dwellers visit this village during holidays and festive seasons because the air is fresher and the food is delicious and inexpensive.

Mengkuang Dam (Malay: Empangan Mengkuang, Tasik Mengkuang) is a dam in Central Seberang Perai District, Penang, Malaysia. It is the only dam situated in Seberang Perai (Penang Mainland) and the second dam built in Penang after Ayer Itam dam. It was officially opened by the former governor, Dr. Tun Awang bin Hassan in 1985. It has the water catchment area of 3.9 km2 (1.5 sq mi) and a gross storage capacity of 23.6 billion litres (5.2×109 imp gal; 6.2×109 US gal) makes it the largest dam in Penang, almost 10 times the capacity of the Air Itam Dam. Mengkuang Dam closed to the public from August 1, 2011, until July 31, 2016, for enlargement and renovation. The US$200 million enlargement includes increasing the height of the dam by 11 m (36 ft) and its length 1.7 km (1.1 mi) to the west. A new intake and spillway will also be added.
