The Bruriah High School for Girls is a seven-year yeshiva school for girls located in Elizabeth, in Union County, New Jersey, United States, serving students in sixth through twelfth grades. Throughout the day the student curriculum consists of Judaic and secular studies. The school is part of the Jewish Educational Center, which is run by Dean Elazar Mayer Teitz. The current principal is Dr. Bethany Strulowitz, who joined the administrative team in 2021 and was promoted to principal at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. Bruriah, also known as BHS, offers a variety of athletic and academic teams, clubs, committees, APs, and other extracurricular activities. The Jewish Educational Center has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 2008.As of the 2019–20 school year, the school had an enrollment of 311 students and 76.3 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 4.1:1. The school's student body was 99.4% (309) White, 0.3% (1) Black and 0.3% (1) Asian.The school is named after the Talmudic figure Bruriah.

The Charles N. Fowler House is a historic house at 518 Salem Avenue in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Built in 1909, it is a prominent local example of Georgian Revival architecture, featuring a semi-circular projecting Doric portico topped by a metal dome (a later addition). It was designed by the New York firm Carrere & Hastings for Charles N. Fowler, a prominent local banker and United States Congressman. In 1930 Fowler sold the building to the Vail-Deane School. It is now home to a Dar-ul-Islam, an Islamic mosque and community center. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Benedictine Academy was a Catholic parochial, college preparatory high school that served young women in ninth through twelfth grades in Elizabeth, in Union County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The school was opened in 1915 by the Benedictine Sisters of Elizabeth, Saint Walburga Monastery, and operates under the auspices of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark.In the wake of declining enrollment, the school announced that it would close at the end of the 2019–20 school year. Compared to an enrollment in 2014-15 of 174 students, the school estimated that 2020-21 enrollment would be 115.The school had been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1996.As of the 2019–20 school year, the school had an enrollment of 127 students and 15.6 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 8.1:1. Benedictine Academy welcomed students of any race, color, national and ethnic origins. The BA faculty comprised Benedictine Sisters, members of other religious communities and lay teachers, 70% of whom have advanced degrees.

The Woodruff House is located in Hillside, Union County, New Jersey, United States. The house was built in 1735 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 11, 1978.

The Liberty Hall Museum, located in Union, Union County, New Jersey, United States, is a historic home where many leading influential people lived. It is now a museum. Originally a fourteen-room Georgian-style house, it was built in 1772. Liberty Hall stands today as a fifty-room Victorian Italianate mansion. Liberty Hall has been home to many historical figures and was the home of William Livingston, the first Governor of New Jersey, who served from 1776 to 1790; United States Supreme Court Justice Henry Brockholst Livingston; the Kean political dynasty, including Susan Livingston Kean, widow of Continental Congress delegate John Kean, United States Senator and Congressman John Kean, and Captain John Kean, son of United States Senator Hamilton Fish Kean; and, in its first year of occupancy, future Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton. Liberty Hall has had visitors of such stature as George Washington, Martha Washington, Lewis Morris, Marquis de Lafayette, Elias Boudinot, and John Jay, the latter of whom was married there. The Liberty Hall Museum is located on the Liberty Hall Campus of Kean University in Union, New Jersey between the campus' Main Campus in Union and East Campus in Hillside, New Jersey.

The New Jersey Academy of Science (NJAS) is a private, nonprofit society of scientists and others interested in science, with a membership of about 400 individuals in academia, government, and industry. The academy also includes college students who are pursuing both graduate and undergraduate degrees in the senior academy, as well as high school students in the junior academy. Founded in 1954, the NJAS is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and of the National Academy of Sciences and works with the New Jersey state government to stimulate education and scientific research throughout the state. Elizabeth Township, also called Elizabethtown, was a township that existed in Essex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, from 1664 until 1855. The area was initially part of the Elizabethtown Tract, purchased from the Lenape on October 28, 1664.Elizabeth-Town Township was formed on October 31, 1693, while the area was still within Essex County. Elizabeth was incorporated as one of New Jersey's initial 104 townships by the Township Act of 1798 Act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 21, 1798. Portions of the township were taken to form Westfield Township (January 27, 1794), Springfield Township (April 14, 1794), Rahway Township (February 27, 1804) and Clinton Township (April 14, 1834).On March 13, 1855, the City of Elizabeth was created, combining and replacing both Elizabeth Township and Elizabeth Borough. With the creation of the City of Elizabeth, Elizabeth Township was dissolved.

North Elizabeth is a commuter railroad station in the city of Elizabeth, Union County, New Jersey, United States. Located at the North Avenue bridge crossing in Elizabeth, the station serves trains of NJ Transit's Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Lines. North Elizabeth station features two high-level platforms for handicap accessibility under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Service at this station is limited. As of November 8, 2020, there are 14 eastbound trains and 13 westbound trains serving the station on weekends.

Alexander Hamilton Preparatory Academy (abbreviated as AHPA) is a four-year comprehensive public high school located in Elizabeth, in Union County, New Jersey, United States, operating as part of Elizabeth Public Schools. The academy accepts students in ninth through twelfth grades in Elizabeth who have passed the requirements for enrollment. The academy is operated by the Elizabeth Board of Education. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 2013. The school's college-preparatory curriculum prepares students for four-year colleges and universities. As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 961 students and 62.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 15.4:1. There were 492 students (51.2% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 103 (10.7% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Mid-Town Historic District is state and federal historic district in the central business district of Elizabeth, in Union County, New Jersey. It encompasses 2-210 and 1-233 Broad St.; 251-339 North Broad Street; 1190-1214 and 1201-1217 East Grand St.; 1125-1169 and 1140-1170 East Jersey Street, and parts of Dickinson Street, Commerce Place, Elizabeth Avenue, and Martin Luther King Plaza. Contributing properties include the Elizabeth Public Library, the Ritz Theatre and the individually listed First Presbyterian Church of Elizabeth.

Elizabeth is a disused train station in Elizabeth, New Jersey. It was built by the Central Railroad of New Jersey (CNJ) in 1893. It is adjacent to NJ Transit's Elizabeth station on the Northeast Corridor. That station was built and owned by the Pennsylvania Railroad; in the era of private operation passengers could transfer between the two. The CNJ right-of-way in Elizabeth is unused, and passenger trains which served the former CNJ mainline (NJT's Raritan Valley Line service) bypass Elizabeth via the Aldene Connection on their way to Newark Penn Station. The station has been renovated and used as commercial space.
