Green Valley is a census-designated place in the Sierra Pelona Mountains, in Los Angeles County, California. It lies at an elevation of 2936 feet (895 m). The population was 1,027 at the 2010 census.

The Painted Turtle is a Summer camp located near Lake Elizabeth in Lake Hughes, California. The camp is for children who are faced with life-threatening and chronic illnesses. Many of these children would not have the opportunity to have a camping experience due to their illness. The year-round programming for campers and their families is provided free of charge.

Elizabeth Lake is a natural sag pond that lies directly on the San Andreas Fault in the northern Sierra Pelona Mountains, in northwestern Los Angeles County, southern California.

Bouquet Reservoir is an artificial lake in the Angeles National Forest of Los Angeles County, California about 15 miles (24 km) west from Palmdale. At elevation of 2,993 feet (912 m) in the Sierra Pelona Mountains, the reservoir capacity is 36,500 acre⋅ft (45,000,000 m3) and is formed by Bouquet Canyon Dam on Bouquet Creek, which is a tributary of the Santa Clara River. The dam is constructed of earthfill and is 190 feet (58 m) tall, measured from the elevation of the original streambed. The dam was built by the city of Los Angeles and was completed in 1934 (1934) Official opening ceremonies were held at noon on March 28, 1934. The reservoir is part of the Los Angeles Aqueduct system, which is where it gets much of its water. Both are owned by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. The reservoir's drainage basin is only 13.6 square miles (35 km2) where the average annual rainfall is 14–20 inches (360–510 mm). Its purpose is to provide regulation of releases and to store water in case there is an interruption upstream.

Andrade Corner (formerly, Talamantes) is an unincorporated community in the Sierra Pelona Mountains, Los Angeles County, California. It is located 1.4 miles (2.3 km) southwest of Johnson Summit at the southwest base of Portal Ridge, 2.5 miles (4.0 km) northeast of the town of Green Valley, at an elevation of 3,412 feet (1,040 m).

Elizabeth Lake is a census-designated place (CDP) and unincorporated community on Elizabeth Lake (lake), in Los Angeles County, California, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 1,756.

Hughes Lake is a sag pond on the San Andreas Fault in the northern Sierra Pelona Mountains, in Los Angeles County, California.

Lake Hughes is an unincorporated community in northern Los Angeles County, California. It is in the Sierra Pelona Mountains, northwest of Palmdale and north of the Santa Clarita Valley, in the Angeles National Forest. It is on the sag pond waters of Lake Hughes and Elizabeth Lake. The community is rural in character, with a population of 649 in 2010, but also has a strong recreational element centered on the three lakes in the vicinity. The community of Elizabeth Lake is located just east of Lake Hughes, sharing the same ZIP code.

The Lake Fire was a wildfire that burned during the 2020 California wildfire season in the Angeles National Forest in Los Angeles County in the state of California in the United States. The fire, which was first reported on August 12, 2020, burned 31,089 acres (12,581 ha) near Lake Hughes. It was fully contained on September 28. The cause of the fire remains unknown. The fire has damaged 3 structures, destroyed 12 structures and 21 outbuildings, and injured 4 firefighters.

Shea’s Castle, originally dubbed "The Painted Rocks, Shea's Lodge", is known today as Sky Castle or Castle Ranch. It is a private castle built in 1924 by the developer Richard Peter Shea. Shea, a New Yorker, moved to the dry climate of Southern California in hopes of improving the health of his wife, Ellen. Shea made his fortune developing Hancock Park in Los Angeles. He spent two years building the 8 bedroom, 7.5-bath castle, constructed of solid granite, on about 1,500 acres (6 km²) of land located in the Antelope Valley, just west of Lancaster and just south of the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve. The Stock Market Crash of 1929 bankrupted Shea. The bank took over the castle, Shea's wife died and Shea committed suicide. A variety of owners and renters have occupied the castle since. Thomas Stewart Lee, heir of the California-based Don Lee Network, once lived in the home. Roy Rogers' horse Trigger was trained on the property. A non-profit aviation group added a runway, dam and lake. The castle has seen its share of development plans as well, but to this day remains pretty much the same. There are pictographs on the property, as well as natural springs. It has been a location for 1967's Blood of Dracula's Castle, 2008's Alive or Dead, 2022's Babylon, and TV shows such as Airwolf, Bat Masterson, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Season 5 Episode 1), Harry O, The Rat Patrol, and Starsky & Hutch. It is currently a private residence.
