Nepaug State Forest is a Connecticut state forest located primarily in the town of New Hartford.

The Pine Meadow Historic District encompasses most of the historic 19th-century village of Pine Meadow in New Hartford, Connecticut. Located at a bend in the West Branch of the Farmington River southeast of New Hartford center, it is a well-preserved example of a rural industrial village. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

The Philip Chapin House is a historic house at 55 Church Street in the Pine Meadow village of New Hartford, Connecticut. Built in 1867 for a local factory owner, it is an elaborate example of Italianate architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

Ski Sundown is a ski area located in New Hartford, Connecticut. There are 16 trails, 15 of which are lighted for nighttime skiing. In terms of difficulty, eight of the trails are easier, four are intermediate and three are difficult and one is most difficult. Popular trails include Tom's Treat, which winds its way down the mountain for one mile and includes a mini terrain park (1.6 km), and Gunbarrel, a steep pitch straight down the fall line which offers free NASTAR as well as CISC-sponsored races. The ski area features two terrain parks, the easier on Tom's Treat, and an expert terrain park on the black diamond run Stinger. When there is enough snow, the mountain seeds moguls on the Exhibition and Gunbarrel trails. The mountain opened its newest trail, Satan's Stairway, a double black diamond trail in the Winter 2014/2015 season. Five lifts service the mountain, with three triple chairs, and two conveyor lifts. Ski Sundown has 70 acres (280,000 m2) of skiable terrain. Ski Sundown also includes 15 out of 16 trails lighted for night skiing, usually until 10 PM (12 am on New Year's Eve)

The Nepaug River begins at the confluence of North Nepaug Brook and Cedar Swamp Brook about one mile (1.6 km) east of Bakerville, Connecticut. It runs for 10.6 miles (17.1 km) to the Farmington River about one-half a mile (0.80 km) south of Cherry Brook, Connecticut.A popular whitewater paddling route begins along Dings Road about one-tenth of a mile (0.16 km) downstream from the start of the Nepaug River. This river run is between Class I-II whitewater until the U.S. Route 202 bridge. The river then enters the Nepaug Reservoir at the northwest corner. The Nepaug Reservoir was created by the Nepaug Dam which is located at the northwest corner of the reservoir and is approximately one mile (1.6 km) from the Farmington River. The final section of the Nepaug River carries the overflow from the Nepaug Dam east to the Farmington River at Collinsville (near Cherry Brook, Connecticut). The Reservoir is managed by the Metropolitan District Commission. The Nepaug Reservoir is approximately two miles (3.2 km) long from north to south and approximately one mile (1.6 km) wide from east to west.

The Canton Center Historic District encompasses the historic rural town center of Canton, Connecticut. Extending mainly along Connecticut Route 179, near the geographic town center, is a well-preserved example of a rural agricultural center in Connecticut, a role served until about 1920. The district includes many examples of Late Victorian and Greek Revival architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

The Town Bridge is a historic truss bridge, carrying Town Bridge Road over the Farmington River in Canton, Connecticut. Built in 1895, it is one of only two surviving pin-connected Parker truss bridges in the state. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

Esperanza is a historic country estate at 511 Town Hill Road in New Hartford, Connecticut. Built about 1835 and extensively enlarged and restyled in 1893, it is a high-quality example of Colonial Revival architecture on an original Greek Revival frame. Julie Palmer Smith (sometimes referred to as Julia Palmer Smith), one of its original owners, was a noted author of Victorian romance novels. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002, at which time it remained in the hands of Smith descendants.

Canton is a town, incorporated in 1806, located in the Farmington Valley section of the Capitol Planning Region, Connecticut, United States. The population was 10,124 as of the 2020 census. It is bordered by Granby on the north, Simsbury on the east, Avon and Burlington on the south, New Hartford on the west, and Barkhamsted on the northwest. Running through it is the Farmington River. The town includes the villages of North Canton, Canton Center, Canton (Canton Valley), and Collinsville. In September 2007, Collinsville was ranked in Budget Travel magazine as one of the "Ten Coolest Small Towns In America".

New Hartford is a town in Litchfield County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 6,658 at the 2020 census. The town is part of the Northwest Hills Planning Region. The town center is defined by the U.S. Census Bureau as the New Hartford Center census-designated place (CDP). The town is mainly a rural community consisting of farms, homes, and parks. Brodie Park and Ski Sundown are located in New Hartford.

Canton High School is a secondary school for grades 9–12 located in Canton, Connecticut. Its enrollment is 496 as of 2016. Canton's mascot is the warrior. It is in part known for its music and arts program.

Collinsville is a village and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Canton, Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 3,746 at the 2010 census. The central portion of the village is a historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built around the Collins Company Axe Factory, a manufacturer of edge tools, such as axes, machetes, picks and knives. Collins machetes were the brand of choice in South America. Collins tools were used almost exclusively for the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway, and axes and picks made their way across the country to be used in the California Gold Rush. Admiral Peary carried Collins tools to the North Pole.Typical of New England mills, the Collins Company axe factory was sited on a river (the Farmington), and their production was powered by utilizing the water's strength to turn turbines and power machines. The numerous old buildings ramble along the riverbanks intertwined by an intricate maze of sluices that run throughout the site. The company closed its doors in 1966, but the factory buildings stayed standing and are now rented out to local businesses. The ambiance of Main Street reflects period architecture with ornate details from the start of the 20th century.
