Viyyoor Shiva Temple

Viyyoor is a residential area situated in the city of Thrissur in Kerala state of India. Viyyur is Ward 4 of Thrissur Municipal Corporation. It is dotted by a number of temples, churches, Mosques and is surrounded by lush greenery. It is about 4 km from Swaraj Round. It has one of the three central jails in Kerala, Viyyoor Central Jail.

Kuttankulangara Sri Krishna Temple located in Punkunnam, Thrissur district of Kerala, south India and is considered to be over a 300 years old. It is located in the Kuttankulangara ward of Thrissur Municipal Corporation. This temple is a classic example of the Kerala style of architecture. It is 500 m away from Punkunnam Railway station. It is believed that the god gives the fortune of progeny(സന്താനം). There is an interesting ritual called Pannivetta(പന്നി വേട്ട); model of pig is made and a hunter arrows it down at the base of the Banyan Tree (ആല്‍ത്തറ).

The Viyyur High Security Prison is a high tech, high-security prison situated in Viyyur, Thrissur city, Kerala, India. Half of the prison will be located underground to resist aerial attack. The prison can accommodate 300 people.

Punkunnam Seetha Ramaswamy Temple more commonly called as 'Pushpagiri Seeta Ramaswamy temple' is located in the Pushpagiri agraharam of Punkunnam, Thrissur City of Kerala, India. The temple is one of the unique temples dedicated to Lord Rama where both Rama and Seeta share the same pedestal in the sanctum sanctorum. The other temple that comes to mind here is the Bhadrachala Rama temple. However there Seeta is seen sitting on Rama's lap. Here the vigraha of Rama and Seeta are different but placed on the same pedestal. The garbhagriha is visible from the dhvajastambha itself. However when viewing from the dhvajastamba, only Rama can be seen, the vigraha of Seeta placed inwards towards Rama's left. The temple also houses sannidhis for Lakshmana (called Ilaya Perumal) and Hanuman. In the temple complex, we also find separate temples for Ayyappan and Lord Shiva. In fact, the Shiva temple and the temple pond in front of it are much ancient than the Rama temple itself. Diwan Bahadur T. R. Ramachandra Iyer, a justice in the Cochin Court, constructed this temple for his Ishta devata and the Kumbhabhishekam was held on 13 June 1895. Even till date, the members belonging to this family are entrusted the responsibility of conducting the Seeta-Kalyana Utsavam during the Rama Navami celebrations. To this place belong notable people such as the Kalyan Group business family, well known carnatic musicians Vidwans Srikrishna Mohan and Ramkumar Mohan popularly called Trichur Brothers, their father Mridangam Vidwan Shri Trichur R Mohan and many others.

Aswini Hospital is a private hospital situated in Thrissur, in the Kerala state of India. It is situated near Vadakkechira Bus stand and Poonkunam railway station in Thrissur Corporation. Established as a 40-bed hospital in 1987, it is now a 300-bed Multi-Super Speciality General Hospital. The hospital also runs the Aswini School of Nursing in Nadathara, Thrissur. Central Prison & Correctional Home, Viyyur, is situated in Thrissur in Kerala state of India and is authorised to accommodate 520 prisoners. It is one of the four central prisons other than Poojappura, Kannur and Tavanur, situated in Kerala state. It is one of the most important correctional and detention centers in the state. As per Kerala Prison Rules, the prison is meant to detain convicted habitual prisoners on a long-term basis. The prison has separate buildings designated as special jail and sub-jail meant for short-term convicts and people on trial, respectively.

Thiruvambadi Sri Krishna Temple is a Hindu temple in the city of Thrissur in Kerala, India. The main deities of this temple are Krishna in the form of a child, and Bhadrakali, both having equal importance. There are sub-shrines for Ganesha, Sastha and Brahmarakshas, and there is a sub-temple for Ganesha behind the temple. The temple is one of the two rival groups participating in the Thrissur Pooram. The temple was home to an elephant named Thiruvambadi Sivasundar who died in 2018.
