Anne Arundel County Public Library (AACPL) is a public library system located in central Maryland. Established in 1921 as the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Public Library, Inc, the system now includes 16 locations throughout Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

In 2019, Arundel Rivers was formed by joining South River Federation with the West Rhode Riverkeeper, Inc. Located in Edgewater, Maryland, USA, the Arundel Rivers Federation, Inc. is a grassroots organization of more than 500 members whose goal is to "preserve, protect and celebrate" the South River and its ecosystem through: monitoring and assessment education and enforcement large scale restoration outreach and promotion of responsible stewardshipFull-time staff includes the South, West, and Rhode RiverKeeper, who monitor and document the health of the rivers via weekly bacteria testing and water quality sampling from May through September.

Three Mile Oak got its name because it was three miles from the Maryland State House. Prominent visitors were met at the tree, on the outskirts of Annapolis, and escorted into the city.

Parole, a suburb of Annapolis, is a census-designated place (CDP) in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States. The population was 15,922 at the 2010 census. It is where several major roads intersect at the western edge of the state capital, Annapolis, and contains the Annapolis Mall, and a number of other large shopping centers, and the Anne Arundel Medical Center. It is generally considered to be part of Annapolis rather than a separate town. The neighborhood was named because it was a parole camp, where Union and Confederate prisoners of war were brought for mutual exchange and eventual return to their respective homes.

Formerly open at the Westfield Annapolis Mall in Annapolis, Maryland, Punk's Backyard Grill is a fast casual style restaurant, with counter ordering and food runners and bussers. The restaurant had a full liquor license, serving beer, wine, and specialty cocktails. The menu was created by Dean Maupin, currently the executive chef at the Clifton Inn in Charlottesville, VA. Dean was trained during a four-year apprenticeship at the esteemed Greenbrier Hotel.

Westfield Annapolis is a shopping mall, owned by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield and is located near the junction of U.S. Route 50 and Interstate 97 in Parole, near Annapolis, Maryland. As of 2022, the mall features the traditional tenants Macy's and JCPenney, and prominent specialty stores Free People, Intimissimi, Janie & Jack, and Crate & Barrel.

Riva is a census-designated place (CDP) in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States. The population was 4,076 at the 2010 census. The area is scenic, especially where the two-lane Riva Road crosses the South River on a bridge. The area is growing with large new homes as the suburbs of Annapolis grow outward. Riva is bordered by Annapolis to the north, Edgewater to the east, and Davidsonville to the west. Currently Riva is served by Central Elementary School, Davidsonville Elementary School, Central Middle School, and South River High School in Edgewater, Maryland.

On June 28, 2018, a mass shooting occurred at the offices of The Capital, a newspaper serving Annapolis, Maryland, United States. The gunman, Jarrod Ramos, killed five employees with a shotgun and injured two others who were trying to escape. Ramos was arrested shortly thereafter. He pleaded guilty but not criminally responsible to 23 charges; in July 2021, a jury found him criminally responsible.The Capital had published an article in 2011 about Ramos being put on probation for harassing an acquaintance from high school through social media and email. Ramos, angered by the article, brought a defamation lawsuit against the newspaper but a judge later dismissed the suit. Ramos is alleged to have sent enraged letters and messages to The Capital threatening to attack its newsroom and staff, but no legal action was taken after the threats were received.Capital Gazette Communications, owned by Tribune Publishing through its subsidiary the Baltimore Sun Media Group, publishes the daily newspapers The Capital and the Maryland Gazette and the weekly Crofton-West County Gazette. At the time of the shooting, its offices were located at 888 Bestgate Road in Parole, an unincorporated area of Anne Arundel County just outside Annapolis.

The airport is five nautical miles (9 km) southwest of the central business district of Annapolis. It is privately owned by the Lee Airport Authority in Edgewater, Maryland.

The Maryland Renaissance Festival is a Renaissance fair located in Crownsville, Maryland. Set in a fictional 16th-century English village named Revel Grove, the festival is spread over 27 acres (110,000 m2). It is open from the last weekend of August and runs for nine weekends.

The Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) is a regional health system headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland. In addition to the main campus in Annapolis, the group has outpatient pavilions in Bowie, Kent Island, Odenton, Easton and Waugh Chapel.

Iglehart is a historic home at Iglehart, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States. It is a 2+1⁄2-story Greek Revival-style frame house with a gable roof, built about 1830. Its owner, Leonard Iglehart, served as a commissioner for the primary schools in Anne Arundel County from 1834 until 1838. He was also one of the six original commissioners of the Annapolis and Elk Ridge Railroad, which was incorporated by an act of the Maryland General Assembly in December 1836.Iglehart was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
