Sukhanovka, short for Sukhanovskaya osoborezhimnaya tyur'ma (Russian: Сухановская особорежимная тюрьма) 'Sukhanovo special-regime prison,' was a prison established by the NKVD under N. I. Yezhov in 1938 for "particularly dangerous enemies of the people" on the grounds of the old Ekaterinskaia Pustyn' Monastery near Vidnoye, just south of Moscow. Known officially as Special Object 110 (Russian: Спецобъект № 110), it was said to be worse than the Lubyanka, Lefortovo, or Butyrka prisons in Moscow itself. From 1958 it was a jail hospital. During 1992 the prison was returned to the church as a monastery and on November 17, 1992, the first vows were made within its walls.

Leninsky District (Russian: Ле́нинский райо́н) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the thirty-six in Moscow Oblast, Russia. It is located in the center of the oblast just south of the federal city of Moscow. The area of the district is 202.83 square kilometers (78.31 sq mi). Its administrative center is the town of Vidnoye. Population: 172,171 (2010 Census); 145,251 (2002 Census); 74,490 (1989 Census). The population of Vidnoye accounts for 33.0% of the district's total population.

Vidnoye (Russian: Ви́дное, IPA: [ˈvʲidnəjə]) is a city and the administrative center of Leninsky District in Moscow Oblast, Russia, located 3 kilometers (1.9 mi) south of Moscow city limits. Population: 101,490 (2021 Census); 56,752 (2010 Census); 52,198 (2002 Census); 55,829 (1989 Census).

The Butovo Firing Range or Butovo Shooting Range (Russian: Бутовский полигон, romanized: Butovskiy poligon) was an execution site of the Soviet secret police located near Drozhzhino in Leninsky District, Moscow Oblast from 1938 to 1953. Its use for mass execution has been documented; it was prepared as a site for mass burial. According to Arseny Roginsky, "firing range" was a popular euphemism adopted to describe the mysterious and closely-guarded plots of land that the NKVD began to set aside for mass burials on the eve of the Great Terror. Butovo was used for mass executions and mass graves during Joseph Stalin's Great Purge, with 20,761 prisoners of various nationalities documented as being transported to the site and executed by the NKVD and its successor agencies. The exact number of victims executed at Butovo remains unknown as only fragmentary data has been declassified. Notable victims at Butovo include Gustav Klutsis, Seraphim Chichagov and Saul Bron; in addition, more than 1000 members of the Russian Orthodox clergy. The Russian Orthodox Church took over the ownership of Butovo in 1995, commissioning construction of a large Russian Revival memorial church, and the mass grave memorial complex can be visited daily.

Biryulyovo Vostochnoye District (Russian: район Бирюлёво Восточное) is a territorial division (a district, or raion) in Southern Administrative Okrug, one of the 125 in the federal city of Moscow, Russia. It is located in the south of the city and borders with Biryulyovo Zapadnoye in the west, Tsaritsyno in the north, Orekhovo-Borisovo (Severnoye and Yuzhnoye) in the east, and Moscow Ring Road (MKAD) in the south. The area of the district is 14.772 square kilometers (5.704 sq mi). As of the 2010 Census, the total population of the district was 145,100.

Biryulyovo Zapadnoye District (Russian: район Бирюлёво Западное) is a territorial division (a district, or raion) in Southern Administrative Okrug, one of the 125 in the federal city of Moscow, Russia. It is located in the south of the city and borders with Biryulyovo Vostochnoye in the east, Moscow Ring Road (MKAD) in the south, Chertanovo Yuzhnoye in the west, and Chertanovo Tsentralnoye in the north-west. The area of the district is 8.5064 square kilometers (3.2843 sq mi). As of the 2010 Census, the total population of the district was 85,726.

Biryulyovo Tovarnaya (Russian: Бирюлёво-Товарная, Biryulyovo Cargo Station) is a railway station located in Biryulyovo Zapadnoye and Biryulyovo Vostochnoye Districts of Moscow, Russia. The station serves suburban traffic of Paveletsky suburban railway line. The northbound trains terminate at Moscow Paveletsky railway station in Moscow. The southbound trains terminate at the stations of Biryulyovo Passazhirskaya, Domodedovo, Barybino, Mikhnevo, Stupino, Kashira, Ozherelye, and Uzunovo. The station is operated by the Moscow Railway. The next station in the northern direction is Chertanovo, and the next one in the southern direction is Biryulyovo-Passazhirskaya. There is a connecting railway track which runs north and crosses to the Kursky suburban railway line; there is no passenger traffic along this track. Biryulyovo-Tovarnaya has access to Medynskaya Street and Bulatnikovsky Lane (west), as well as to Kasimovskaya Street (east). The public bus traffic is organized. The station is surrounded by a residential area. The station was opened in 1900 when the railway connecting Moscow and Pavelets was built to connect Moscow to Ryazan-Ural Railway. Initially, the station was named Zagorye after the name of the closest village. Until September 1900, Paveletsky railway station in Moscow was not yet completed, and the trains from the station of Zagorye followed to the Kursky railway station. Subsequently, the station was renamed Biryulyovo according to another village, located further away, and the name was transferred to the settlement which was built to serve the station. In the 1910s, the station of Biryulyovo was separated into a cargo station (Biryulyovo-Tovarnaya) and a passenger station (Biryulyovo-Passazhirskaya). Eventually, in 1936 a passenger platform was built on Biryulyovo-Tovarnaya as well, while the cargo station continued to operate. In 1953, the railway stretch between Moscow and Domodedovo, including Biryulyovo Tovarnaya, was electrified. In 1960, the station, together with the urban-type settlement of Biryulyovo, was included into Moscow.

Shcherbinka (Russian: Ще́рбинка) is a town, formerly in Moscow Oblast, Russia, and since July 1, 2012 a federal city subject (settlement) of Moscow, Russia. It is located 37 kilometers (23 mi) south of the center of Moscow. Population: 32,450 (2010 Census); 28,043 (2002 Census); 28,011 (1989 Census).

Gorki Leninskiye (Russian: Го́рки Ле́нинские) is an urban locality (a work settlement) in Leninsky District of Moscow Oblast, Russia, located 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) south of Moscow city limits and the Moscow Ring Road. Its population is: 3,586 (2010 Census); 1,729 (2002 Census); 1,711 (1989 Census).The estate of Gorki belonged to various Muscovite noblemen from the 18th century. Zinaida Morozova, the widow of Savva Morozov, purchased it in 1909, the year before she married General Anatoly Reinbot (later Anatoly Rezvoy), the chief of Moscow police. She engaged the most fashionable Russian architect, Fyodor Schechtel, to remodel the mansion in the then-current Neoclassical style, complete with a six-column Ionic portico. On 21 January 1924, Vladimir Lenin, the first leader of the Russian SFSR and subsequently the USSR, died at this estate, which he had used as his personal dacha since its nationalization in 1918.

Shcherbinka is a railway station of Line D2 of the Moscow Central Diameters in Moscow. It was opened in 1895 and will be rebuilt soon.

Severnoye Butovo District (Northern Butovo, Russian: Северное Бутово) is an administrative district (raion) of South-Western Administrative Okrug, and one of the 125 raions of Moscow, Russia. The area of the district is 9.271 square kilometers (3.580 sq mi). Population: 95,937 (2020 est.).

Domodedovsky District (Russian: Домоде́довский райо́н) was an administrative district (raion) of Moscow Oblast, Russia, which was municipally incorporated as Domodedovo Urban Okrug. Its administrative center was the town of Domodedovo. District's population: 135,405 (2010 Census); 124,572 (2002 Census); 68,538 (1989 Census). The population of Domodedovo accounted for 71.0% of the district's total population.
