Droylsden Academy

Droylsden is a town in Tameside, Greater Manchester, England, 4.1 miles (6.6 km) east of Manchester city centre and 2.2 miles (3.5 km) west of Ashton-under-Lyne, with a population at the 2011 Census of 22,689.Within the boundaries of the historic county of Lancashire, in the mid-19th century Droylsden grew as a mill town on the Ashton canal. Beginning in the early 1930s, Droylsden's population expanded rapidly as it became a housing overflow area for neighbouring Manchester. Since 1785, the Fairfield area of Droylsden has been home to a Moravian Church.

Cemetery Road is a tram stop on the East Manchester Line (EML) of Greater Manchester's light-rail Metrolink system. It opened on 11 February 2013, after a three-day free trial for local residents. The station was constructed as part of Phase 3a of the Metrolink's expansion, and is located in Droylsden at the junction of Manchester Road and Cemetery Road, a part of Tameside, England.

Droylsden West is an electoral ward of Tameside, England. It is represented in Westminster by Angela Rayner Labour MP for Ashton-under-Lyne.

Wheler Street Moravian Church was founded in 1899 through outreach work from the nearby Fairfield Moravian Settlement. The new church stood at Wheler Street in Higher Openshaw, Manchester, England.

The Hollinwood Branch Canal was a canal near Hollinwood, in Oldham, England. It left the main line of the Ashton Canal at Fairfield Junction immediately above lock 18. It was just over 4.5 miles (7.2 km) long and went through Droylsden and Waterhouses to terminate at Hollinwood Basin (Hollinwood Top Wharf). It rose through four locks at Waterhouses (19–22) and another four at Hollinwood (23–26). Immediately above lock 22 at Waterhouses was Fairbottom Junction where the Fairbottom Branch Canal started. Beyond Hollinwood Basin there was a lock free private branch, known as the Werneth Branch Canal, to Old Lane Colliery, which opened in 1797. It is a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Local Nature Reserve.

Fairfield High School for Girls, is an all-girls' secondary academy located in Droylsden, Greater Manchester.

The Alhambra Theatre in Higher Openshaw, Manchester, England, was opened in 1910, part of the H. D. Moorhouse Theatre Circuit, but it had been converted to a cinema by the outbreak of the First World War in 1914. The cinema was converted into a bingo hall in the early 1960s. The auditorium was finally used as a sporting club, and what remained of the building was used as a restaurant, storage space and glass works. The Alhambra was demolished in 2009 to make way for a new Morrisons supermarket.

20–23 and 23A Fairfield Square comprise a range of five historic houses in the Fairfield Moravian Settlement in Droylsden, a town within Tameside, Greater Manchester, England. They are designated as Grade II* listed buildings and form part of the Moravian community established in the late 18th century.

Fairfield Moravian Church and its surrounding settlement was founded in 1785 in Fairfield, Droylsden, Lancashire, England. It was founded by Benjamin La Trobe as a centre for evangelistic work for the Moravian Church in the Manchester area. Numbers 15, 28 and 30 Fairfield Square are Grade II* listed buildings.

Christy and Sons established a mill that produced the first woven towels in England at Fairfield Mill.Fairfield is the location of Fairfield High School for Girls, Fairfield railway station and a place of worship. The community has been home to members of the Moravian Church for many years after Fairfield Moravian Church and Moravian Settlement were established in 1783.Notable people from Fairfield include the artist Arthur Hardwick Marsh (1842-1909), and the merchant banker and art collector, Robin Benson (1850–1929).
