Embreeville Historic District

The Unionville Village Historic District is a national historic district that is located in Unionville in East Marlborough Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Unionville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in East Marlborough Township in southern Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. It was originally known as Jacksonville. The Unionville Village Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. As of 2020, the CDP has a population of 577.

A four-year, high school located in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, Unionville High School enrolls approximately 1,300 students. Accredited by the Middle Atlantic States Association of Secondary Schools, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Unionville High School has received state recognition for excellence and high achievement in the preparation of students for higher education. Each year, more than 95% of the Unionville High School graduating class takes the SAT examinations. Over 95% of all graduating seniors pursue some form of higher education; 89% go to 4-year colleges, while 7% go to 2-year colleges.

East Marlborough Township is a township in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,026 at the 2010 census. East Marlborough and West Marlborough townships were carved out of the larger Marlborough Township in 1729. The township is home to many Penn Oak trees, trees that were in existence when William Penn explored the area. The well-known Longwood Gardens is located in East Marlborough Township.

Willowdale is an unincorporated community that is located in East Marlborough Township, in southern Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States.It was named after a grove of Willow trees that grew in the general area when the community was originally settled. Several businesses, shopping centers and residential developments in the general area of the crossroads have since been named after Willowdale.

New Bolton Center is the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine's 700 acre campus in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. It is home to one of the busiest large animal teaching veterinary clinics in the nation. Since 1958, it has been located at the former South Brook Farm. Founded in 1964 with contributions from equestrienne Esther du Pont Thouron and others, each year the George D. Widener Hospital for Large Animals (named for horseman George D. Widener Jr.) sees more than 4,000 patient visits, and its Field Service sees more than 31,000 patient visits. In addition to its role as one of the nation's preeminent equine surgical facilities, New Bolton Center includes hospital facilities for the care of large/ food animals, including equids, bovids, camelids, small ruminants, and swine. The campus also contains diagnostic laboratories, cooperated with the Pennsylvania Animal Diagnostic System (PADLS) serving the animal agriculture industry as well as the monitoring of emerging and infectious disease. Prior to the opening of "New" Bolton Center in 1952, the old Bolton Mansion in Levittown was the site of the farm for the School of Veterinary Medicine.

Embreeville is a historical unincorporated community, little more than a rural stretch of road with a few businesses and homes, in Newlin Township, Pennsylvania, United States, on a bend of Brandywine Creek. It is approximately 30 miles (48 km) west of Philadelphia, and north of Unionville. The Embreeville Historic District, which covers most of the town, is on the National Register of Historic Places.During the 19th and 20th centuries Embreeville was best known as the site of the county poor house and the Chester County Asylum for the Insane, renamed Embreeville State Hospital in 1938 and closed in 1980. Embreeville's other landmarks include the Embreeville Dam, Embreeville Mill, Pennsylvania State Police Barracks, Star Gazers' Stone, and Hannah Freeman's grave. The Star Gazers' Stone marked an important astronomical observation point used by Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon in 1764 in surveying the Mason-Dixon line, which lies 15 miles south of the stone. It is also the location to a Pennsylvania state police station.

Newlin Township is a township in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,285 at the 2010 census. Newlin Township was the hometown of explorer Josiah Harlan and Lenape healer Hannah Freeman. William Baldwin, the botanist, was born there on the 29th of March 1779.

The Green Valley Historic District is a national historic district which is located in East Marlborough Township and Newlin Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Cedarcroft, also known as Bayard Taylor House, is a historic house on Gatehouse Drive in Chester County, Pennsylvania near Kennett Square. It was built in 1859 for writer Bayard Taylor (1825–1878), and is a good local example of Italianate architecture. It remained Taylor's home until 1874, and is where he wrote some of his well-known works. It has been a private residence for most of its existence, spending a few years in the early 20th century as a private boys' school. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1971 for its association with Taylor.
