Baker Presbyterian Church

Baker High School is an accredited public high school in Baker, Louisiana. It is a part of the City of Baker School System.

Leland College was founded in 1870 as a college for blacks in New Orleans, Louisiana, but was open to all races. After its original buildings burned in 1923, it was relocated near Baker, Louisiana. Never accredited, the school closed in 1960 because of financial difficulties.The 20.9 acres (8.5 ha) area of the Baker campus, comprising four contributing properties and one non-contributing building, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 10, 1982.The college facilities had become derelict by the time of listing. In the early 21st century, only the ruins of the two dormitories can be seen faintly through trees. The frame classroom, the president's house, and the concrete classroom all disappeared at some time. Holbrook Chamberlain, a philanthropist from Brooklyn established the school. He bought the land and built the school buildings. John Elijah Ford served as the school’s president.

The Baton Rouge Zoo is located 15 minutes north of downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States. The zoo is owned and operated by the Recreation and Park Commission of East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana (BREC), and is home to over 800 animals from around the world. The zoo was first accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) in 1977 — the first zoo in Louisiana to be accredited. However, the zoo lost its accreditation in March 2018 due to infrastructure issues and animal escapes.

Alsen is an unincorporated community in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, United States. Established for freedmen, the community has been plagued by industrial pollution. The community is located less than 2 miles (3.2 kilometres) west of Baker and 6 miles (9.7 kilometres) southwest of Zachary and 2 miles (3.2 kilometres) east of the Mississippi River.

The school serves the Scotlandville neighborhood of Baton Rouge as well as a section of the Brownfields census-designated place.

Baton Rouge Raceway located in Baker, Louisiana is a 3/8 mile dirt oval race track. It is the home track of the O'Reilly SUPR racing series. In 2007 the hosted a combined race of World of Outlaws Late Model Series and O'Reilly SUPR Late Model Series, the event was won by Chris Madden.

The Laurens Henry Cohn Sr. Memorial Plant Arboretum (or Cohn Arboretum), 16 acres (6.5 hectares), is an arboretum located at 12206 Foster Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It is open to the public daily. The Arboretum contains more than 120 species of native and adaptable trees and shrubs, including a Japanese Maple collection, an Orchid and Bromeliad House, a Tropical House, a Camellia Collection, an Evergreen and Conifer Collection, a Crape-myrtle Collection, and an Herb/Fragrance Garden.

Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (IATA: BTR, ICAO: KBTR, FAA LID: BTR), also known as Ryan Field, is a public use airport located four miles (7 km) north of the central business district of Baton Rouge, a city in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, United States.The airport was originally Harding Field during World War II and was used by the United States Army Air Forces Technical Service Command as a maintenance and supply base. Its uses also included training pilots to fly P-47 Thunderbolts. One of the Thunderbolt pilots trained at Harding was Quentin Aanenson, who survived the war, and in 2007 appeared in Ken Burns' The War, a PBS film about World War II. Training was dangerous, The War noting that "Five members of Aanenson's group of 40 trainees died before they got a chance to go overseas". Many other aircraft were used at Harding, including P-40 Warhawks, P-39 Airacobras, A-36 Apaches, and B-26 Marauders.Today, other than the runways, virtually no traces remain of the military installation.

Brownfields is an unincorporated area and census-designated place (CDP) in East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 5,401 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Zachary Community School District (ZCSD), or Zachary Community School Board is a school district in Zachary, Louisiana, United States. In addition to Zachary it serves some unincorporated areas around it.The Zachary Community School System was founded in 2002 and was formed from schools that had been located in the East Baton Rouge Parish School District. The schools in this system are located within the City of Zachary; however, the school district boundaries include areas outside of the incorporated City of Zachary.Since 2005, the school system has been recognized by the Louisiana Department of Education as the top system in Louisiana.
