Etchison is an unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Maryland in the United States of America. It is on Maryland Route 108 at its junction with the northern end of Maryland Route 650.

The Layton House is a historic home located at Laytonsville, Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. It was built in 1793 and is a two-story brick Federal-style house with a three-bay Flemish bond main (north) facade and a gable roof.The Layton House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 25, 1975.

The Oaks II is a historic home located at Laytonsville, Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. It was built between 1797 and 1814, and is a 1+1⁄2-story gambrel-roofed log house with an adjoining one-story gable-roofed log addition. A number of outbuildings which stood on the original Riggs Farm with this house were moved to the current location on the west side of the road. The house is significant for its 133-year association with the Riggs family, a prominent Montgomery County family active in civic and agricultural affairs of both the county and the state.Oaks II was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Olney Support Center, formerly the Olney Federal Support Center, is an underground facility of the Carderock Division of the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) located in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. The center occupies 75 acres (30 ha) of property 2.0 miles (3.2 km) east of Laytonsville, Maryland, on the site of a former Nike missile base. The NSWC acquired the facility from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in March 2019.Prior to its acquisition by the NSWC, the center was a communications, satellite teleregistration and data network facility. It at one time housed the FEMA Alternate Operations Center (FAOC) as a control center for the U.S. National Warning System. It was also part of the FEMA National Radio System (FNARS), a high-frequency radio network that links FEMA's emergency operations centers.

Sunnyside or Sunnyside Farms is a historic slave plantation home located in Woodbine, Howard County, Maryland. Sunnyside began as a log cabin built in 1800 by Capt. Banjamin Warfield of Cherry Grove's son Joshua Warfield. In 1830, Albert Gallatin Warfield expanded the home, and a second expansion was completed in 1890 by his son Joshua Warfield.Albert Warfield was known for generously freeing his slaves at the age of 40, albeit at a time when life expectancy was shorter. His son Joshua Warfield operated a title company, and imported food waste for composting fertilizer for soil. The house later passed to Norman Hutton Warfield (1889 - 1955) who worked for the Federal Land Trust. The last Warfield heir to own the estate was the assistant states attorney for Howard County, Albert Gassaway Warfield III (-1983) who worked for Pierce, Fenner and Smith Inc. The farm is now known as Timberleigh Farm

Mother of God School (MOG) is a Catholic, coeducational private school located in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The school currently enrolls students in pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. It is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington and the Mother of God Community, which was responsible for the school's founding. It is located across the street from the St. John Neumann Roman Catholic Church, but is not officially connected to the parish. The school recently celebrated its 35th anniversary.

Pleasant Fields is an historic home in Laytonsville, Montgomery County, Maryland. It is also known as the Henry Chew Gaither House.Maryland politicians William Lingan Gaither and Henry Chew Gaither both lived here and are buried on the grounds.The house has a sister house in the vicinity, built by the same builder, Ephraim Gaither. Clover Hill is a historic home located at Brookeville, Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. It is a large, 2+1⁄2-story, five bay Italianate-style residence principally built about 1857, with evidence of several earlier building campaigns, including a log dwelling from the mid 18th century. The ruins of a large bank barn and a stone springhouse stand on the property. The house was built by Ephraim Gaither, a Maryland legislator (1817–1820) and locally prominent citizen.Clover Hill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Damascus is a census-designated place and an unincorporated area in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. In the early 20th century, there existed an incorporated municipality lasting a quarter century. It had a population of 17,224 as of the 2020 census. Damascus is located at the intersection of two major roads in upper Montgomery County: Ridge Road (currently Rt. 27) and Damascus Road (currently Rt. 108).

Patuxent River State Park is a public recreation area located along the upper reaches of the Patuxent River in Howard and Montgomery counties in Maryland. The state park features hunting, fishing, mountain biking, horseback riding, and hiking on unsigned and untended trails. Planning for the park began in 1963, with the Maryland General Assembly funding land purchases in each year from 1964 to 1968. It is part of the Northeastern coastal forests ecoregion.

The 220th Military Police Brigade is a former military police brigade of the United States Army, which was headquartered in Gaithersburg, Maryland. It was Reserve Component formation of the U.S. Army Reserve. First activated in 1959, the brigade was a part of the reserves for the first 40 years of its existence, and never participated in any conflicts or wars of the 20th century. Its headquarters moved around several places until coming to Gaithersburg in 1970, where it remained until its inactivation. The brigade was activated into the active duty force for one year from early 2003 until early 2004 to participate in the initial invasion and occupation of Iraq, Operation Iraqi Freedom. After this deployment, the brigade was again placed in reserve and commanded units in readiness exercises for other large U.S. combat formations preparing to deploy in support of U.S. operations worldwide. It was reorganized as the 200th Military Police Command on 1 March 2006.
