The Zachariah Allen House is a historic house at 1093 Smith Street in Providence, Rhode Island. Built in 1789 by Amos Allen for his brother Zachariah Allen, it is a 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure, five bays wide, with a central entry and large central chimney. It is a well-preserved example of a transitional Georgian-Federal style house, having retained original siding materials on the outside, and finish woodwork on the interior. Its major modifications include the 20th-century installation of new hardwood floors, as well as modern plumbing and kitchen. Zachariah Allen was at the time a successful merchant, and the house was built as a summer retreat in what was at the time a rural area.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

The Winsor–Swan–Whitman Farm is an historic house at 416 Eaton Street in Providence, Rhode Island. The farmhouse was built in 1742 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Elmhurst is a primarily residential neighborhood in the northwest quadrant of Providence, Rhode Island. Douglas Avenue and Admiral Street bound Elmhurst to the northeast, Academy Avenue and Smith Street bound it to the west, while Chalkstone Avenue marks the southern border.

Mount Pleasant is a working-class residential neighborhood situated in the northwest of the city of Providence, Rhode Island. It is bordered by Olneyville to the south, Valley to the east, Manton to the west, and Elmhurst to the northeast, and the Town of North Providence to the north. The major street boundaries that define Mount Pleasant are Academy Avenue to the east, Smith Street to the northeast, Atwells Avenue to the south, and portions of Bullock, Chalkstone, Mera, and Rushmore Avenues to the west. Mount Pleasant is one of Providence's most stable neighborhoods. According to the 1990 census, less than half of all Mount Pleasant residents moved into their current residence in the past five years; nearly four out of ten residents had lived in their present unit for more than a decade, and almost one out of five had lived in his or her current home for more than 20 years.

Martin Hall, also known as the George M. Bradley House is a historic house on the upper campus of Providence College. The house was built in 1850 by architect Thomas Alexander Tefft in an Italian Villa style for Chief Justice Charles S. Bradley, a successful attorney who served on the Rhode Island Supreme Court. In 1926, the house and properties were purchased by Providence College. The house was given a wood-framed dormitory addition to its rear, becoming Guzman Hall, the college's first on-campus dormitory. It continued to be a dormitory, housing pre-ecclesiastical students, until 1962, when a new Guzman Hall was opened on land formerly included in the Good Shepherd property, which had been purchased by the college in 1955. After reconstruction in 2022, there were rumors of the building being renamed to “Morze Hall”. At that time, the house was remodeled to its original configuration and renamed for Saint Martin de Porres. Until 1994 the house was used as the house of the President of Providence College, at which time St. Dominic House, another house which was a part of the Good Shepherd property, became the President's residence. (This was done because the new president, Rev. Philip A. Smith, O.P., had previously lived in St. Dominic House and did not want to move.) After serving several years as a Dominican residence (like St. Dominic House had before), the house was used as the college's Office for Institutional Advancement, and is now home to the College's Mission and Ministry, as well as Information Technology. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The State Home and School for Dependent and Neglected Children was a state institution for children in Providence, Rhode Island. Following the American Civil War, states assumed new responsibilities for the care of adults and children living in poverty or with serious illnesses. The State Home, and organizations like it across the country, sought to remove dependent children from adult correctional institutes, almshouses, and juvenile reformatories. It was located on a cottage-plan campus in what was originally rural western Providence, on a former gentleman's farm. The school was established in 1884 and operated until 1979, when its remaining functions were taken over by other state organizations. Most of its surviving grounds and buildings are now on the Rhode Island College East Campus, and have been listed as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places.

Alumni Hall is the on-campus basketball gymnasium at Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island, United States. It was built in 1955 and was the home court for the school's men's basketball program until 1972. The gymnasium has hosted the Providence College women's basketball team since its inception in 1974.

Dominic Hall, also known as St. Dominic House and the William L. Bailey House, is a historic house on the Providence College campus in Providence, Rhode Island. It is a 2+1⁄2-story stone-faced structure with timber framing, and a prominent octagonal four-story tower at its southeastern corner. The house was built in the 1850s by William Bailey, who had a 23-acre (9.3 ha) estate. In the early 20th century the estate was acquired by the local Dominican Order, which used it as a convent and girls' school. The property was then absorbed by Providence College (also a Dominican project). The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. It presently serves as the official residence of the college president.

Providence College is a private Catholic university in Providence, Rhode Island. Founded in 1917 by the Dominican Order and the local diocese, it offers 47 undergraduate majors and 17 graduate programs. The college requires all of its undergraduate students to complete 16 credits in the Development of Western Civilization, a major part of the college's core curriculum. In the spring of 2021, it enrolled 4,128 undergraduate students and 688 graduate students for a total enrollment of 4,816 students. In athletics, Providence College competes in the NCAA's Division I and is a founding member of the original Big East Conference and Hockey East. It was part of the original six other basketball-centric Catholic colleges which broke off from the original Big East (today's American Athletic Conference) to form the current Big East at the start of the 2013–14 academic year.

Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium is the on-campus soccer and lacrosse stadium at Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island, United States. It was built in 2015 and is the home for the school's men's and women's soccer teams and men's lacrosse team.

Schneider Arena was named in honor of Rev. Herman D. Schneider, O.P., the founder of Providence College hockey and a longtime teacher at the school. It is located at the far northern end of campus, on the corner of Huxley Ave. and Admiral St., and is notable for the reflective energy-conserving ceiling that was installed in 1992. The arena is also used extensively by local hockey organizations and is the traditional site of the state high school ice hockey championships. It is also occasionally used for concerts, although most school-sponsored concerts are held in Alumni Hall. Due to its low ceiling, it has never been used for basketball.

The Roger Williams Medical Center (RWMC) is a university-affiliated teaching hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. Roger Williams Medical Center has an affiliation with Boston University School of Medicine. The Roger Williams Medical Center (RWMC), located in the Elmhurst section of Providence, has served the community's health care needs since 1922. Along with corporate parent CharterCARE Health Partners and as a major teaching affiliate of Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) (only about 50 miles away), this academic medical center has attained fully accredited ACGME teaching programs for more than 40 years.
