The Martha and Maurice Ostheimer Estate is an historic, American home that is located in West Whiteland Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. The estate home known as "Grimmet" was designed by architect John Gilbert McIlvaine, a partner of Wilson Eyre, and built in 1924 in the Tudor Revival style. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

It consists of a 2+1⁄2-story, double-pile stuccoed stone central block with a two-story stone service wing with frame addition. It has a slate-covered gable roof with arched dormers. It features a verandah with wrought iron columns. Also on the property are a contributing barn and kennels.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Charles Thomas House, also known as Fairview, is a historic home located in West Whiteland Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. The house was designed by noted Philadelphia architect Addison Hutton (1834–1916) and built in 1877–1878. The original house was a two-story, five bay rectangular brick dwelling faced with blue limestone in a Late Gothic Revival style. It has a service wing and the pentagonal library wing was added in 1896.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The township wraps around the eastern half of Downingtown and is mostly indistinguishable from it. East Caln Township is very developed, containing several shopping centers, including the regionally important Brandywine Square Center, several recently constructed housing developments varying from condominiums to large single family homes, and some industry in the southern fringe of the township.
