The Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy (abbreviated NPCA), or just Collegiate Academy or Academy High School, is located in midtown Erie, Pennsylvania. The school is housed in the former Academy High School building, which reopened in September 1997 as Collegiate Academy. The school boasts a 100% college acceptance rate among recent graduates.

The Jackson Koehler Eagle Brewery was an historic American brewery complex which was located in Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Saint Vincent Health System, commonly known as simply St. Vincent's, is medical facility located in Erie, Pennsylvania. It is one of the largest employers in the Erie region. The complex features several large buildings, including a heart attack heart care unit.

West 21st Street Historic District is a national historic district located at Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania. It includes 35 contributing middle and upper class residential buildings built between 1857 and 1939. They are in a variety of popular architectural styles including Queen Anne, Italianate, and Colonial Revival. Many of the buildings have been converted to multi-family use.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

Central Tech School was a high school in Erie, Pennsylvania, in the United States. Originally named Central High School, it was the result of the merger of Academy High School and Technical Memorial High School after the conclusion of the 1992–1993 academic year when Academy closed. Around 1994, Central was renamed Central Tech. The attendance was roughly 1,000 students, and offered 21 Career and Technical courses. The school's mascot was a Falcon. It was the Erie School District's regional vocational-technical school before it was renamed Erie High School, after the merger of Strong Vincent High School and East High School in 2017. In 2017, Central Tech High School was renamed Erie High School (Pennsylvania) when the School District of the City of Erie consolidated all of its high schools—with the exception of Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy.

Formerly called Central Tech High School, it was renamed in 2017 after the Erie City School District converted two of the other high schools, Strong Vincent High School and East High School, into middle schools.The first Erie High School opened in 1866, before being renamed Central High School in 1920.Erie High School celebrated its first graduating class in 2018, about 400 out of a total of 2,278 students.

Union Station is an Amtrak railroad station and mixed-use commercial building in downtown Erie, Pennsylvania, United States. It is served by the Lake Shore Limited route, which provides daily passenger service between Chicago and (via two sections east of Albany) New York City or Boston; Erie is the train's only stop in Pennsylvania. The station's ground floor has been redeveloped into commercial spaces, including The Brewerie at Union Station, a brewpub. The building itself is privately owned by the global logistics and freight management company Logistics Plus and serves as its headquarters. The first railroad station in Erie was established in 1851 but was replaced with the Romanesque Revival-style Union Depot in 1866. Through a series of mergers and acquisitions by competing railroad companies which started not long after the establishment of Erie's first railroads, Union Depot became jointly owned and operated by the New York Central and Pennsylvania railroads. To meet the changing needs of the rapidly growing city, planners designed a more modern structure to replace the original depot. The new Art Deco Union Station, dedicated on December 3, 1927, was the first railroad station of that style in the United States. While Union Station was busy from its opening and through World War II, passenger rail service began to dwindle after the war when air and highway travel became more popular. By the 1960s, the New York Central drastically cut service, while the Pennsylvania abandoned service to Erie altogether. Both railroads were merged in 1968 to form Penn Central, and passenger rail was transferred from Penn Central to Amtrak in 1971. At one point, from 1972 to 1975, even Amtrak service in Erie was suspended. With reduced demand for train travel, Union Station was neglected and allowed to decay until Logistics Plus bought it in 2003. Since then it has been restored, with portions re-purposed as commercial and retail space.

Lovell Manufacturing Company, also known as Lovell Place, is an historic factory complex and national historic district which is located at Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

WJET (1400 kHz) branded as Jet Radio 1400 is a commercial AM radio station in Erie, Pennsylvania. It broadcasts a talk radio format and is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. WJET's studios are in the Boston Store building in downtown Erie. WJET has a power of 1,000 watts. The transmitter is at the intersection of East 18th Street and Ash Street in the city of Erie. Programming is also heard on 250-watt FM translator W244DX at 96.7 MHz.

The Erie–Meadville, PA Combined Statistical Area (CSA) is made up of two counties in northwestern Pennsylvania. The United States Office of Management and Budget has recognized the Erie and Meadville areas along with the counties of Erie and Crawford to make a Combined Statistical Area, located in northwestern Pennsylvania. Though these county line boundaries are rather arbitrary since Erie serves as the regional hub for the bordering areas of southwestern New York and northeastern Ohio, including the cities of Jamestown and Conneaut.As of the 2010 United States census the combined statistical area had a population total of 369,331, making it the seventh-largest in Pennsylvania and 102nd-largest in the nation.
