Lakeland High School (Shrub Oak, New York)

Shrub Oak is an unincorporated hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located in the town of Yorktown in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 2,011 at the 2010 census.

The Lakeland Central School District is a public school district in New York State, serving approximately 5200 students in 44 square miles (110 km2) of the towns of Yorktown, Cortlandt and Somers in Westchester County; and the towns of Carmel, Philipstown, and Putnam Valley in Putnam County. It is the largest suburban school district (by area) in Westchester County and a member of the Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES. The average class size ranges from 19-24 students and the student-teacher ratio is 13:1.The district's main office is in Shrub Oak, New York. Dr. Karen Gagliardi is the acting Superintendent of Schools.

Lake Mohegan, commonly known as Mohegan Lake, is a census-designated place (CDP) located in the Town of Yorktown in Westchester County, New York, United States. There is a private lake, Mohegan Lake, also known as "Lake Mohegan", with beaches which are occasionally closed for swimming due to harmful algal blooms.The town was home to several former summer bungalow colonies in the 1950s and 1960s. They included the Skyview Colony and Lakeview Colony off U.S. Route 6.

Mohegan Colony was an intentional community based on New York's Lake Mohegan in Westchester County from 1923 to the 1950s.

The Cortlandt Town Center (formerly known as the Westchester Mall) is a large retail power center located in Cortlandt, New York. The New York Times called it "the main shopping area of the town of Cortlandt Manor" in 2003. The current incarnation (and name) was founded in 1997 from buildings that made up the mostly enclosed Westchester Mall built in 1975. Many new buildings were added as well, and it is currently a predominantly outdoor shopping center, eventually growing to approximately 772,000 sq ft (71,700 m2). Anchor stores include Walmart, The Home Depot, Best Buy, Acme Markets, Barnes & Noble, PetSmart, Michaels, Old Navy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Marshall's, and DSW. It also contains a 12-screen United Artists Theater, GameStop, DressBarn, Five Below, Mattress Firm, the Mohegan Lake post office and several restaurants including McDonald's, Applebee's, Panera Bread, Subway, Five Guys, Emperor's Garden, Mia's Pizza and Moe's Southwest Grill. There are 3 vacant spaces last left by Modell's Sporting Goods, Pier 1 Imports, and OfficeMax. On March 11, 2020, it was announced that Modell's Sporting Goods would close as part of a plan to close all stores nationwide after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.On May 19, 2020, it was announced that Pier 1 Imports would be closing as part of a plan to close all locations nationwide.On January 19, 2023, it was announced that Regal Cinemas would close as part of a plan to close 39 theaters nationwide.

Jefferson Valley-Yorktown, commonly known as Jefferson Valley, is a census-designated place (CDP) located in the town of Yorktown in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 14,142 at the 2010 census. It is a hot spot for local shoppers, due to its Jefferson Valley Mall.

Putnam Valley is a town in Putnam County, New York, United States. The population was 11,809 at the 2010 census. Its location is northeast of New York City, in the southwestern part of Putnam County. Many residents of Putnam Valley commute to New York City daily for work or recreational purposes (Midtown Manhattan is around a forty five to fifty minute drive). Putnam Valley calls itself the "Town of Lakes".

The Monument to the 1st Rhode Island Regiment at Yorktown Heights, New York was erected on May 13, 1982 on the grounds of the First Presbyterian Church to commemorate the valiant efforts of a Revolutionary War unit composed predominantly of black soldiers that fought on May 14, 1781 under the command of Colonel Christopher Greene.
