Shrub Oak is an unincorporated hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located in the town of Yorktown in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 2,011 at the 2010 census.

Lakeland High School (LHS), located in Shrub Oak, New York, United States, is a senior public high school serving students in ninth through twelfth grades as part of the Lakeland Central School District. Along with its sister school, Walter Panas High School of Cortlandt Manor, LHS attracts a culturally diverse (70% white[1] ) and talented student body from over 40 square miles (100 km2) in northern Westchester County. The school's colors are gold and green, and its mascot is a hornet. As of the 2014–15 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,045 students and 77.3 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.5:1. There were 133 students (12.7% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 42 (4.0% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Jefferson Valley Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in Yorktown, New York. Opened in 1983, it is anchored by Macy's and Dick's Sporting Goods. It is managed by Washington Prime Group.

There is a private lake, Mohegan Lake, also known as "Lake Mohegan", with beaches which are occasionally closed for swimming due to harmful algal blooms.The town was home to several former summer bungalow colonies in the 1950s and 1960s. They included the Skyview Colony and Lakeview Colony off U.S. Route 6.

Yorktown High School is a public high school in Yorktown Heights, New York that serves students in grades 9–12. The school offers academic electives, sports, and student news and literary publications. The school is accredited by the New York State Board of Regents and Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. As of Sept. 2018, the Superintendent is Dr. Ron Hattar. The Principal is Joseph DeGennaro and he has been at the post since the Fall of 2008.
