Edwards is a dispersed rural community at the headwaters of Bear Brook in the Osgoode Ward of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. According to the Canada 2011 Census, the surrounding blocks had a population of 346.Edwards was named in 1901 after William Cameron Edwards (1844-1921). Edwards was a lumberman, MP for Russell 1887 -1903 and a senator. From 1898 to 1957 Edwards was a flag stop for the New York and Ottawa Railway.New York Central Railway with a station and siding and telegraph operator were here until the tracks were torn up in 1957.Edwards has many small businesses golf courses and auto mechanics, and has had their own Post Office. The post office has been in the same family since around 1900.There is a city run park and an Orange Lodge and now there is a solar farm at Parkway and Yorks Corners roads.

Carlsbad Springs is a rural community on Bear Brook in Cumberland Ward in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; Prior to amalgamation in 2001, the community was on the border between Gloucester and Cumberland. According to the Canada 2011 Census, the population of the surrounding area is 916 (area bounded on the north by Renaud Road and the CP Railway, 10th Line, on the east by Smith Road, Milton Road, Russell Road and Sand Road, on the south by Highway 417 and on the west by Anderson Road).

Metcalfe is a population centre located in Osgoode Ward, in the rural south-end of the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Prior to amalgamation in 2001, the community was in Osgoode Township. According to the Canada 2016 Census, it has a population of 1,776.

Osgoode Township High School is a high school in the Metcalfe community of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The school was founded in 1920 by the Carleton Board of Education in what was then Osgoode Township. Since 1944, the school has been under the jurisdiction of the Ottawa Carleton District School Board. In 1954, the school moved into its current location on 8th Line Road. The school's student body is drawn from the communities of Metcalfe, Greely, Osgoode, Carlsbad Springs, Vernon, Edwards, Kenmore, Manotick and the area surrounding these communities. In addition to the regular English Ontario school curriculum, Osgoode Township High School also offers cooperative education, composite studies, French immersion, and the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program. Despite its small student population, the school has successful athletic and music programs.

Kenmore is a rural community in Osgoode Ward in the southeastern corner of the City of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Prior to amalgamation in 2001, it was located in Osgoode Township. It consists of two small residential neighbourhoods and farmland. Notable features include Kenmore Bicentennial Park, Kenmore Community Centre, and the Castor River, a tributary of the South Nation River. According to the Canada 2011 Census, the population of the surrounding blocks was 501. Significant local events include the Royal Canadian Legion honouring of war dead with a Remembrance Service every November at the Kenmore cenotaph. There is a Kenmore Women's Institute, and the Kenmore Community Association meets regularly at Kenmore Hall.

Greely is a suburban-rural community in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Located south of the city in Osgoode Ward, it was part of the Township of Osgoode prior to amalgamation in 2001. Greely is currently the largest rural village in terms of land area and the third largest in terms of population in the City of Ottawa. According to the Greely Community Association, it is bounded on the east by Sale Barn Road and Greyscreek Road, on the north by Mitch Owens on the west by Manotick Station Road, and on the south by Snake Island Road. According to the Canada 2011 Census, the population within these boundaries was 9,049.It falls within the borders of federal parliamentary riding of Carleton. Provincially, it falls within the riding of Carleton, which shares the same boundaries of its federal counterpart, and is represented on City Council by George Darouze, being in Osgoode Ward. Greely is home to a set of tight-knit and unique communities throughout the village. Most homes sit on 1⁄2-acre to 2-acre (8,100 m2) lots. Some developers offer condominium-like amenities such as pools, tennis courts, man-made lakes, beaches, and small neighbourhood community centres within their residential communities. The Greely Community Centre hosts meetings and activities for the entire rural town. Every year, they organize a Winter Carnival and a renowned Canada Day celebration. Between 2000 and 2008, Greely has seen a 58.7% increase in the number of dwellings. Greely's increasingly rapid growth can be attributed to its rural atmosphere and easy access to Ottawa's urban centre. Furthermore, Greely presently has several large areas of undeveloped land within its boundaries. Greely's boundaries currently contain enough land for approximately twenty-two years of residential growth based on current development patterns. Greely has a strong commercial district housing many small and medium manufacturing and services companies. It has a few businesses to provide the community with essentials, including 2 gas stations, 3 pizzerias, an A & W and a couple of restaurants. A new commercial development at Parkway Road and Bank Street houses a 24-hour grocery store with liquor/beer store, a dollar store and more businesses under development.

Osgoode Township is a former township that is now a part of the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The township along the Rideau River was established in 1798 and incorporated in 1850. It was an independent township in Carleton County until its amalgamation with the city in 2001. It remains a largely rural area with only some 23,285 inhabitants as of the 2016 census. As of the Canada 2021 Census, this had increased to 24,199. On Ottawa city council it is represented by George Darouze.Several branches of the Castor River, a tributary of the South Nation River, flow through the township. The township took its name from William Osgoode, the first Chief Justice of Upper Canada.

Mer Bleue Bog is a 33.43 km2 (12.91 sq mi) protected area in Gloucester, Ontario, an eastern suburb of Ottawa in Eastern Ontario, Canada. Its main feature is a sphagnum bog that is situated in an ancient channel of the Ottawa River and is a remarkable boreal-like ecosystem normally not found this far south. Stunted black spruce, tamarack, bog rosemary, blueberry, and cottongrass are some of the unusual species that have adapted to the acidic waters of the bog. The area provides habitat for many species, including beaver, muskrat, waterfowl, and the rare spotted turtle (Clemmys guttata). A 1.2 km (¾ mile) boardwalk allows visitors to explore a section of the bog. There are hiking trails that follow raised areas along the edges of the bog and cross-country skiing trails for use in winter. The conservation area is managed by the National Capital Commission. The value of this unique wetland was not always recognized. During World War II, the Royal Canadian Air Force used this area for bombing practice. Now, this area has been designated as a Ramsar site, a Wetland of International Significance under the Ramsar Convention since October 1995, and an Area of Natural and Scientific Interest since 2011.The name "Mer Bleue" (French, meaning "blue sea") is thought to describe the bog's appearance when it is covered in morning fog.

Mix FM was an unlicensed radio station in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The station broadcast as a pirate radio station on several frequencies, most notably on 91.9 FM. The station was "forced off the air" soon after midnight on December 14, 2009, however, the station later signed back on the air 10 days later. The broadcast of Mix FM was forcibly shut down by Industry Canada on January 15, 2010, although the station continues to operate a podcast stream online. The operator of the station was subsequently found guilty of violating the Radiocommunication Act.

Ramsayville is a rural community on Ramsay Creek in Gloucester-Southgate Ward in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Prior to 2001, the community was located within the City of Gloucester. The immediate area around Ramsayville (North by the eastern prolongation of Hunt Club Road and Highway 417, west by Hawthorne Road, south by Leitrim Road and east by Anderson Road) has a population of about 90 (2011 Census)The community was also a site used for High Frequency Direction Finding experiments by the Royal Canadian Navy. The Navy installation was located on Ramsayville Road (then known as Base Line Road) about five miles from Gloucester near the intersection of Leitrim Road. It was not that far away from CFS Leitrim. Although not a Naval Radio Station, the installation's experiments that were conducted at its height were likely classified. The station was still known to be in operation as of 1965.Ramsayville was the site of an aircraft crash in 1950 that claimed the life of Laurence Steinhardt, then US Ambassador to Canada.

Hindu Temple of Ottawa-Carleton is a significant Hindu temple in the Gloucester section of Ottawa. For the first time, a Hindu temple in Eastern Ontario in 1985. The temple is located on Bank Street in the rural area to the south of urban Ottawa, south-east of the airport. The site, previously a cornfield, was purchased for the temple in 1984. The $4 million structure, funded by donations made by Canadian Hindus, was officially opened in 1989. It serves the estimated 6,000 Hindus who live in Ottawa, as well as acting as a community and cultural centre for the community with halls, libraries, and other resources. The temple follows traditional Hindu architectural styles, though compromises had to be made to adapt to the cold and weight of snow accumulation. The temple has nine shrines: Ganesha, Kartikeya, Krishna with Radha, Shiva, Lakshmi with Narayana, Rama with Sita and Lakshmana with Hanuman, Durga, Hanuman, and Nataraja. The effort to build the temple was by Pandit Madhu Sahasrabudhe, a food science researcher who had also served as a priest in the city since 1960. Until his death in 2004 Sahasrabudhe also played an essential role in the community. He is the chair of the Capital Region Interfaith Council. In 2002, he led prayers at a multi-faith thanksgiving event with the Queen in attendance. He frequently appeared as part of the Ottawa Citizen's panel of local religious leaders.

Russell High School is a secondary school in Russell located under the jurisdiction of Upper Canada District School Board. In addition to Russell, students from Embrun, Casselman and Limoges attend Russell High School. The school has the highest graduation rate in Upper Canada District School Board and one of the highest in Ontario, with 94% of Grade 12 students achieving a high school diploma in 2008.
