North East Historic District

North East is a borough in Erie County, Pennsylvania, United States, 14 miles (23 km) northeast of Erie. Located in the county's northeastern corner, the name comes from the geographical location. The population was 4,114 at the 2020 census, down from 4,294 in 2010. Fruit growing was an early economic endeavor, and is still to this day, as this is a popular area especially for cherries and grapes. There is an annual Cherry Festival in the summer and an annual Wine Country Harvest Festival in autumn. It is part of the Erie Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is the northernmost town in Pennsylvania.

Mercyhurst North East was a two-year Catholic liberal arts college in North East, Pennsylvania. It was a branch campus of Mercyhurst University. The college was established in 1991 when Mercyhurst College purchased the former St. Mary's College from Redemptorist Fathers, a property first established as Lake Shore Seminary in 1870. Mercyhurst North East offers one-year certificates and two-year associate degrees in a variety of majors. The school campus closed at the end of the 2020–2021 term, consolidating all programs into the larger Mercyhurst campus in Erie.As of the 2009–2010 academic year, the school enrolled more than 1,060 students, both resident and commuter. The school featured many athletic teams, including men's and women's basketball, wrestling, lacrosse, cross country, golf, soccer, swimming and diving, baseball and softball.

Short's Hotel, also known as the Palace Hotel, is a historic hotel located at North East, Erie County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1877, and is a three-story, five bay by nine bay, brick building in the Italianate style. It features double-hung windows with semi-circular or segmental arch heads and a three-part entablature at the top of the building.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Lake Erie Speedway is a 3/8 mile (0.6 km) paved, banked oval race track which opened on June 21, 2002 in Erie County, Pennsylvania south of North East, Pennsylvania, United States. It was a member of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series from 2002 to 2013 when the track dropped the NASCAR sanctioning body and started only holding a few special event races a year as an unsanctioned track. Lake Erie Speedway previously ran five weekly race divisions including: Modifieds, Street Stocks, Compacts, Legends, and Bandoleros. The track formerly hosted the ARCA RE/MAX Series, the NASCAR Busch East/North Series, the NASCAR Winston Modified Tour, ASA National Tour and CARS Hooters Pro Cup Series.

Twentymile Creek is a tributary of Lake Erie in Chautauqua County, New York and Erie County, Pennsylvania in the United States.Twentymile Creek joins Lake Erie near the community of Orchard Beach, Pennsylvania.Twentymile Creek is considered the largest stream on the eastern portion of the City of Erie. It is stocked annually with steelhead and trout by the Pennsylvania Fish Commission. Twentymile Creek is an approved trout water, so its fishing can be good throughout the year. Steelhead run into Twentymile all the way to New York, but not many anglers venture up that far to fish. New York State has undertaken efforts to stock brown trout in the upper reaches of Twentymile as well. The brown trout migrate out into Lake Erie and return to spawn. Access points along Route 20 are posted.
