The University of Edinburgh School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences (PPLS) is a school within the College of Humanities and Social Science at the University of Edinburgh. The School was formed in 2002 as a result of administrative restructuring, when several departments of what was then the Faculty of Arts were brought together. The University of Edinburgh's academic foundation is based on three Colleges containing a total of 22 Schools; among these is the School of Philosophy, Psychology, and Language Sciences (PPLS). The School is composed of three subject areas: Philosophy Psychology Linguistics and English Language (LEL)

Edinburgh University Students' Association (EUSA) is the students' union at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. The Potterrow Mandela Centre or Potterrow Student Centre is a students' union building in Edinburgh, Scotland. The building is operated by Edinburgh University Students' Association. The name "Potterrow" recalls a medieval suburb which stood outside the town walls. Its Victorian buildings and street layout disappeared when the University demolished the area for redevelopment in the mid 1960s.Potterrow contains a variety of student entertainment and support services including a shop, a bank, two cafés, Edinburgh's largest nightclub, the University's Chaplaincy, The Advice Place and the main EUSA offices.During the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August, the building is used as a comedy venue under the name Pleasance Dome with five performing spaces, operated by the Pleasance Theatre Trust.In 1986, students voted to rename the centre in honour of imprisoned anti-apartheid revolutionary Nelson Mandela.With its distinctive large Plexiglas dome, the building was designed by noted architects Morris and Steedman and completed in 1973. The centre was refurbished in 2012.

The School of Informatics is an academic unit of the University of Edinburgh, in Scotland, responsible for research, teaching, outreach and commercialisation in informatics. It was created in 1998 from the former Department of Artificial Intelligence, the Centre for Cognitive Science and the Department of Computer Science, along with the Artificial Intelligence Applications Institute (AIAI) and the Human Communication Research Centre.Research in the School of Informatics draws on multiple disciplines. The school is particularly known for research in the areas of artificial intelligence, computational linguistics, systems biology, mathematical logic and theoretical computer science; but also contributes to many other areas of informatics. The school was ranked 15th in the World in the latest 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF), successor to Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), ranking. The School of Informatics was ranked 12th in the world by the QS World University Rankings 2014. As of 2022, the school is ranked 1st in the UK according to CSRankings, and 1st in the world for natural language processing (NLP).

Teviot Row House, or Teviot (), is one of the student union buildings at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Run by Edinburgh University Students' Association (EUSA), the building in Bristo Square is the oldest purpose built student Union building in the world, having been opened in 1889.

Inspace is an events and exhibition space within the campus of the University of Edinburgh, situated in Crichton Street in the southside of the city. Currently the space is the home for the Institute for Design Informatics. Inspace presents a programme of public exhibitions and events that span art, technology and design, including festival events that are part of the programme of the Edinburgh Science Festival. It was designed by Architects Reiach and Hall within the University of Edinburgh’s Informatics Forum and opened in 2010. The gallery features large street-facing windows with back-projection screens to display media to the public outside the building.

Bristo Square, Edinburgh, Scotland, is a public space on the estate of the University of Edinburgh. It lies in the south of the city, between George IV Bridge and George Square. The most prominent landmark on the square is the category A listed McEwan Hall, in which the university holds its graduation ceremonies. Other notable buildings on the square include the Dugald Stewart Building, the Informatics Forum, Potterrow Student Centre, Reid Concert Hall, and Teviot Row House.

The Royal Medical Society (RMS) is a society run by students at the University of Edinburgh Medical School, Scotland. It claims to be the oldest medical society in the United Kingdom although this claim is also made by the earlier London-based Society of Apothecaries (1617). The current President of the 284th session is third year medical student Mr Liam Parkinson. The RMS is a professional society engaged in the advancement of medical knowledge and provision of assistance to medical students and professionals.

The School also supports interdisciplinary research areas such as Word and Music Studies.
