Hardy Williams Academy, formerly the Anna Howard Shaw Junior High School is a historic junior high school building located in the Southwest Schuylkill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The building was designed by Irwin T. Catharine and built in 1922–1924. It is a three-story, 17 bay, brick building on a raised stone basement in the Colonial Revival-style. It is in the shape of a shallow "W". It features a center projecting pavilion, stone cornice, and a brick parapet. The school was named for Anna Howard Shaw. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. Since 2015, the school has been used as a charter school run by Mastery Charter Schools. It was renamed in honor of Hardy Williams.

Kingsessing is a neighborhood in the Southwest section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. On the west side of the Schuylkill River, it is next to the neighborhoods of Cedar Park, Southwest Schuylkill, and Mount Moriah, as well as the borough of Yeadon in Delaware County. It is roughly bounded by 53rd Street to the northeast, Baltimore Avenue to the northwest, Cobbs Creek and 60th Street to the southwest, and Woodland Avenue to the southeast.

Angora is a neighborhood in the Southwest section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. Although its boundaries are not precise, West Philadelphia is to its north, Kingsessing is to the south, Cedar Park is to the east, and Cobbs Creek is to the west. The Angora Commuter Rail Station on the Media/Wawa Line, two bus lines (routes 46 and "G"), and a trolley line (SEPTA Route 34) all intersect around Baltimore Avenue and 58th Street, which is unofficially the nexus of the neighborhood. On May 12, 2005, a commercial block in Angora was certified as blighted by the City Planning Commission, and a redevelopment plan was proposed later that year. However, Angora Terrace and other portions of the neighborhood are well-kept.

Angora station is a SEPTA railway station in Philadelphia. It serves the Media/Wawa Line and is officially located at 58th Street near Baltimore Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia's Angora neighborhood, however the actual location is south of Baltimore Avenue. Part of Cobbs Creek Parkway runs along 58th Street from Baltimore Avenue, over the railroad bridge, to nearby Hoffman Avenue. In 2013, this station saw 36 boardings and 37 alightings on an average weekday, making it SEPTA's least used regional rail station.Angora station lies several blocks southeast of the Angora Loop station, which is the western terminus of Route 34 on the SEPTA Subway-Surface Trolley Lines, a line that runs along Baltimore Avenue, three blocks north of the station.

S. Weir Mitchell Elementary School is a historic elementary school located in the Kingsessing neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is part of the School District of Philadelphia. The building was designed by Henry deCoursey Richards and built in 1915–1916. It is a four-story, seven bay, red brick building with terra cotta and granite trim in the Late Gothic Revival-style. It was erected above a raised basement. It features a projecting entrance bay with oversized arched surround, projecting secondary entrance bays, terra cotta quoining, and an arched gable parapet.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Calvary United Methodist Church is located at 801 48th Street, on the southeast corner of 48th Street & Baltimore Avenue, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The church was founded in 1896 as Calvary Methodist Episcopal and the current structure was completed in 1906.Calvary United Methodist Church rents space in its building to a number of churches and community groups. The church also is home to "Calvary Center for Culture and Community" (CCCC), an affiliated non-profit organization that raises funds for building restoration and facilitates use by community groups. Calvary UMC is a member of the Reconciling Ministries Network, a movement within the United Methodist Church to formally and intentionally welcome LGBT persons to full inclusion in the life of the church. The congregation made this declaration in 1985, shortly after the network's formation.

Cobbs Creek is a neighborhood located in the West Philadelphia section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, named for the creek which forms part of Philadelphia's western border. Cobbs Creek is generally bounded by Market Street to the north, Baltimore Avenue to the south, 52nd Street to the east, and the border of Upper Darby along Cobbs Creek to the West. In 1998, the Cobbs Creek Automobile Suburb Historic District was created, with Cobbs Creek Parkway, Spruce Street, 52nd Street, and Angora Street its boundaries. The District protects 1049 buildings, with Tudor Revival, Colonial Revival, and Bungalow/Craftsman architectural styles contained within the district. Philadelphia architect William Alesker, who was involved in the plans for a Trump Tower in Center City, and Evangelical minister Tony Campolo, one of Bill Clinton's spiritual advisers, lived, respectively, in the 6200 blocks of Pine and Delancey Streets back in the 1940s and 1950s. Fires from the 1985 bombing of the MOVE headquarters at 6221 Osage Avenue spread to 64 other buildings in the neighborhood. The destroyed homes were hastily rebuilt by the city, but were later condemned after years of attempted repairs to the shoddy construction.Also listed on the National Register of Historic Places are the Holmes Junior High School and Walnut Park Plaza Hotel.

Mount Moriah is a neighborhood in Southwest Philadelphia, east of Cobbs Creek in the vicinity of Kingsessing Avenue.The neighborhood shares its name with the Mount Moriah Cemetery which was founded next to Cobbs Creek in 1855. Regent-Rennoc Court is a historic apartment complex located in the Southwest Schuylkill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The complex consists of nine buildings built in 1910, in the Renaissance Revival-style. They are large, six-unit buildings arranged in groups of three on either side of Regent Street. They are three-story buildings, constructed of brick and sit on Wissahickon schist foundations. They feature projecting arched center entrances and multiple porch levels.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
