The Memorial for the Disappeared (Spanish: Memorial del Detenido Desaparecido y del Ejecutado Político) is a memorial wall at the entrance to Santiago General Cemetery in Santiago, Chile, commemorating the 3,000 people disappeared or murdered following the 1973 Chilean coup d'état. When newly identified remains are brought to the wall, their listed names move from "disappeared" to "deceased". The memorial is frequented by visitors and at its base are piled flower bouquets, photographs, and calls for governmental action. Atop the wall is a line from Chilean poet Raul Zurita, translated as, "All my love is here and here has stayed: Tied to the rocks, to the sea, to the mountains". It is the best known Chilean memory site.

The Santiago General Cemetery (Spanish: Cementerio General de Santiago) in Santiago, Chile, is one of the largest cemeteries in Latin America with an estimated two million burials. The cemetery was established in 1821 after Chile's independence when Bernardo O'Higgins inaugurated the Alameda de las Delicias along the old course of the Mapocho River. O'Higgins set aside more than 85 hectares of land for the foundation of what became a magnificent grounds filled with ornate mausoleums surrounded by palm and leaf trees set amidst lush gardens and numerous sculptures, which have been estimated be 237. The cemetery, which is located northwest of Cerro Blanco, serves as a true urban park for Santiago. This cemetery is the final resting place for at least 172 of the most influential people in Chile, including all but two of the deceased Presidents of Chile, the exceptions being Gabriel González Videla and Augusto Pinochet. One of the most visited memorials is that of former President Salvador Allende who had been buried in the Santa Ines cemetery at Viña del Mar following his suicide in the 1973 coup d'état. With the democratic changes that began in the 1990s, Allende was exhumed and his remains were transported in a solemn procession through the streets of Santiago to a place of honor in the Cementerio General de Santiago. The cemetery also has a memorial to the people that were 'disappeared' during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet that ousted President Allende. The gatehouse that serves as the main entrance to the cemetery is crowned by a dome, which acts as a terminating vista for La Paz Avenue. This entrance is preceded by the Plaza La Paz, a semicircular plaza whose curved portion is framed by two exposed brick arcades. At the center of the square stands a monument dedicated to the people who died in the Church of the Company Fire. The cemetery can be accessed via Cementerios metro station. The historical portion of the cemetery was designated as a national monument in 2010, reaching the same status as Patio 29.

Cerro Blanco is a hill and historical landmark in the city of Santiago, Chile. This geographic feature rises 89 metres (292 ft) above the surrounding terrain and covers a surface area of 28 hectares (69 acres). It is bordered by Recoleta Avenue on the east, Santos Dumont Avenue on the south and La Unión Street on the north. The latter street separates the hill from the Cementerio General de Santiago. Cerro Blanco (Blanco is Spanish for white) is named so because the white habit used by the Domenicans who were owners of the land where the hill stands during the colonial period.Completed in 1840, the Iglesia de la Viñita (Church of the Small Wineyard) is located at the lower southeast flank of Cerro Blanco, which is consecrated to Our Lady of Montserrat.Stones extracted from a quarry on Cerro Blanco, were used in the construction of some historical buildings in Santiago, including the Santo Domingo Church. Cerro Blanco metro station is named for the hill.

Patio 29 (Spanish: Yard 29) is a common grave site in Santiago General Cemetery in Chile, where political prisoners, especially those who "disappeared" during the 1973 Chilean coup d'état, were buried anonymously. The mass grave, the largest of Augusto Pinochet's military government, was used for unannounced and unmarked burials in the 1970s until an anonymous tip alerted the public to its usage. With the return of democracy to Chile in 1990, an exhumation effort through 2006 recovered 126 bodies in 105 graves and identified three-quarters of the victims. A 2005 DNA test later reported widespread identification errors and a new identification database began in 2007. Exhumation authorities report that the site has been fully exhumed, a claim contested by which families of the victims. The burial grounds became Chile's first cemetery to be designated a protected national monument in 2006. The site serves as a symbol for the human rights movement and the 1973 coup's disappeared. As such, Patio 29 became part of the Bachelet government's "symbolic reparation" program. Annual marches against the coup end at the site.

Cerro Blanco is an underground metro station on the Line 2 of the Santiago Metro, in Santiago, Chile. The station takes its name from the nearby Cerro Blanco (White Hill). It was opened on 8 September 2004 as the northern terminus of the extension of the line from Puente Cal y Canto. On 25 November 2005 the line was extended further north to Einstein.

Einstein is an underground metro station on the Line 2 of the Santiago Metro, in Santiago, Chile. This station is named for Einstein Avenue, which in turn was named after Albert Einstein. The station was opened on 25 November 2005 as the northern terminus of the extension of the line from Cerro Blanco. On 21 December 2006, the line was extended to Vespucio Norte.

The Iglesia y convento de la Recoleta Dominica is a church and convent in Recoleta, Santiago de Chile. The church and convent were declared as a National Monument in 1974.

Recoleta is a commune of Chile located in the north of Santiago Province. It belongs to the Santiago Metropolitan Region which is the capital and seat of the executive branch. It is south of Huechuraba, east of Independencia and Conchalí, west of Providencia and Vitacura, and north of Santiago. The Mapocho River and the San Cristóbal Hill form the natural boundary on the south and east sides, respectively, of Recoleta.

Hospitales is an underground metro station of Line 3 of the Santiago Metro network, in Santiago, Chile. It is an underground, between the Plaza Chacabuco and Puente Cal y Canto stations on Line 3. It is located at the intersection of Independencia Avenue with Profesor Zañartu Avenue. The station was opened on 22 January 2019 as part of the inaugural section of the line, from Los Libertadores to Fernando Castillo Velasco.

The Manuel Foster Observatory, originally known as the D. O. Mills Observatory, is an astronomical observatory constructed on Cerro San Cristóbal near Santiago, Chile in 1903. It is located in the Santiago Metropolitan Park and became a national monument in 2010. The main telescope is a cassegrain reflector with a 0.93 m aperture and an equatorial mount. It is housed inside a rotating dome.

The Santiago Metropolitan Park is an urban park located within the city of Santiago, capital of Chile. Consisting of the San Cristóbal, Chacarillas and Los Gemelos hills, and the areas of Tupahue, Lo Saldés, Pirámide and Bosque Santiago, the park is located between four communes of Santiago – Huechuraba, Providencia, Recoleta and Vitacura – and covers around 722 hectares, making it the largest urban park in Chile and one of the largest in the world.The Santiago Metropolitan Park also maintains 16 Urban Parks distributed throughout 13 communes in Santiago, a total area of almost 150.1 hectares. The maintenance work is carried out through “Urban Parks’ Conservation, Maintenance and Safety” projects which involve cleaning, irrigation, replantation and management of vegetal species, maintenance of urban equipment, sanitation control, weed control, fertilization and safety among other activities.The park was created in April 1966, when incorporating the Chilean National Zoo and the services of San Cristóbal Hill, and is managed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. In September, 2012, the Chilean government launched a plan to significantly refurbish and expand the park between 2012 and 2016, a plan which includes building new footpaths, planting 100,000 more trees and expanding the National Zoo.

The Sanctuary of the Immaculate Conception on San Cristóbal Hill is one of the principal places of worship for the Catholic Church of Chile, as well as being an icon of Santiago, Chile. It is notable in particular for a large statue of the Immaculate Conception, which is located at the summit of San Cristóbal Hill, some 863 meters above sea level.
