CJET-FM

CKBY-FM (101.1 MHz, Country 101.1) is a commercial radio station licensed to Smiths Falls, Ontario, and serving the National Capital Region including Ottawa. It is owned by Rogers Radio, a division of Rogers Sports & Media. From 2020 to 2023 it was branded as CityNews 101.1 with the call letters CJET-FM which simulcasted a News/Talk format with co-owned CIWW. On October 26, 2023, the CityNews branding and simulcast was terminated, CIWW went silent, and 101.1 reverted to its former call letters and Country format, which had been at 92.3 FM. CKBY-FM has radio studios in Smiths Falls (as part of its license agreement), with auxiliary studios at the Rogers Ottawa cluster on Thurston Drive and Conroy Road. CKBY-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 100,000 watts, the current maximum power for Canadian FM stations. The transmitter is on Ontario Highway 15 near Line Route 7 in Beckwith, Ontario.

Carleton Place is a town in Eastern Ontario, Canada, in Lanark County, about 46 kilometres (29 mi) west of downtown Ottawa. It is located at the crossroads of Highway 15 and Highway 7, halfway between the towns of Perth, Almonte, Smiths Falls, and the nation's capital, Ottawa. Canada's Mississippi River, a tributary of the Ottawa River flows through the town. Mississippi Lake is just upstream by boat, as well as by car.

Mississippi Lake is a lake in Lanark County in Ontario, Canada, about 60 km southwest of Ottawa. It is a shallow and narrow lake, about 10 m deep at its deepest, 16 km in length, and less than one km wide in most places. Around the shoreline are over 1,000 homes, ranging from small cabins, to larger vacation homes, to full-time residences, many of them accessed by private roads. There are also several campground resorts, with RVs, waterfront condos, or rentals.

Notre Dame Catholic High School is located in Carleton Place, Ontario, Canada. It opened in 1995 with approximately 235 students. As of January 2021, there are over 1000 students ranging from grades 7 to 12. The school expanded in 2001 with a two-story addition. The school began an expansion to include its grade 7 and 8 students as well as a new atrium in 2015, which was completed in 2017.

The small village of Ashton is located about 40 kilometres (25 mi) southwest of Downtown Ottawa, Ontario, at the intersection of Ashton Station Road and Flewellyn Road. Ashton Station Road runs through the centre of the community, and serves as the south-western boundary line for the City of Ottawa, thus making the eastern portion of the hamlet part of Ottawa, and the western portion part of Lanark County. The eastern portion of the community was originally part of Goulbourn Township, which was amalgamated into the City of Ottawa in 2001. It is home to approximately 200 residents. The headwaters of the Jock River, which runs through the heart of the community, are just to the west of the hamlet. There is a general store, a pub, several churches and a community center. Unlike many communities surrounding the burgeoning city of Ottawa, Ashton has remained relatively unchanged for many years. The North Lanark Regional Museum is a museum in Ontario, Canada that was started and managed by the North Lanark Historical Society to collect, preserve, and display the history of Mississippi Mills. It is a member of Ontario Museum Association (OMA).

Scotch Corners Wetland is a provincially significant wetland complex located in Lanark County, Ontario, Canada. The 202 hectares (500 acres) area has a wide array of wetland types including swamps, marshes, vernal pools, beaver ponds and seepage areas. It forms the headwaters of several creeks that drain into Mississippi Lake.

The CFS Carp Richardson Detachment was a military operated radio communications transmitter station linked by landline to CFS Carp located off Lanark County Road 10 East of Perth, Ontario. The detachment was built with a hardened two story underground bunker built to accommodate the Signals personnel needed to operate the transmitter in case of war, as well as a mess hall, sleeping quarters, offices, decontamination facilities, and its own power generation facilities. Its location was chosen to be far enough away from CFS Carp to ensure survivability in the case of a nuclear strike against CFS Carp, and to reduce the risk of interference from its twenty powerful radio transmitters.Separate radio receiver detachments were located and administered by CFS Carp in the region; the CFS Carp Almonte Detachment and the CFS Carp Dunrobin Detachment were linked to CFS Carp by land line also.

Drummond/North Elmsley is a township in eastern Ontario, Canada in Lanark County. It is situated on the north shore of the Rideau River between the town of Perth and the town of Smiths Falls. It is a predominantly rural municipality. The township offices are located in the hamlet of Port Elmsley.
