The Mikveh Israel Cemetery is a Jewish cemetery known as the Federal Street Burial Ground and located at 11th and Federal Streets in the Passyunk Square neighborhood of South Philadelphia. It was first called Beth Hahayim (Hebrew: בית החיים). It is one of three cemeteries belonging to Congregation Mikveh Israel, Philadelphia's oldest synagogue.

Passyunk Square is a neighborhood in South Philadelphia bounded by Broad Street to the west, 6th Street to the east, Tasker Street to the south and Washington Avenue to the north. Passyunk Square is bordered by the Bella Vista, Hawthorne, Central South Philadelphia, Wharton, and Point Breeze neighborhoods. The neighborhood got its Lenape name from the 1800s Passyunk Township, Pennsylvania which named Passyunk Square Park, located between 12th, 13th, Reed and Wharton Streets. The park was eventually renamed Columbus Square Park, and subsequently the neighborhood became known as Columbus Square. Sue Montella, Geoff DiMasi, and a group of neighbors revived the Passyunk Square name when forming the Passyunk Square Civic Association in 2003.

Chùa Bồ Đề, also known as the Bồ Đề Buddhist Temple is a Vietnamese Buddhist temple located in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.The temple was established Christmas Day in 1994 after Vietnamese immigrants of the Asian American Buddhist Association of Philadelphia raised to $130,000 to purchase the abandoned Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz. It is the first Vietnamese Buddhist temple in Philadelphia.In 1995, a resident monk was murdered. The incident delayed renovations to the building until the end of 1997.

Wharton is a neighborhood in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. Its boundaries are difficult to ascertain; the City of Philadelphia states it is along Wharton Street, west of Pennsport, and east of Point Breeze. According to this description, the neighborhood runs from about 4th Street to Broad, with no clear north to south boundaries. By other descriptions, the neighborhood runs from 8th to 13th Streets (east to west) and Wolf to Tasker Streets (south to north). This description places Wharton along the southern border of Passyunk Square.

Moyamensing Prison was a prison in Philadelphia, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It was designed by Thomas Ustick Walter. Its cornerstone was laid April 2, 1832; it opened on October 19, 1835, was in use until 1963, and was demolished in 1968. For nearly 140 years the Moyamensing Prison dominated the southwest at the intersection of Passyunk Avenue and Reed Street in South Philadelphia.

Washington Avenue Historic District, or Washington Avenue Factory District, is a national historic district located in the Hawthorne and Bella Vista neighborhoods of South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It comprises the remaining four blocks of one of the last industrial neighborhoods in Philadelphia, and encompasses eight contributing buildings built between 1889 and 1927: 1001 Washington Avenue: C. Ellsworth–Federal is a subway station on SEPTA's Broad Street Line in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The station opened on September 18, 1938, and is located at the western edge of the Italian Market on Broad Street, between Ellsworth and Federal Streets. It is also close to the Washington Avenue Historic District. It is served by Broad Street Line local trains only, with one platform. In addition to the Italian Market, the station also provides access to busy Washington Avenue (one block north of the Ellsworth exit) and, approximately five blocks east, the landmark competing cheesesteak vendors Geno's Steaks and Pat's King of Steaks.

The Rock School for Dance Education is a classical ballet school located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, along the city's Avenue of the Arts. Pat's King of Steaks (also known as Pat's Steaks) is a Philadelphia restaurant specializing in cheesesteaks, and located at the intersection of South 9th Street, Wharton Street and East Passyunk Avenue in South Philadelphia, directly across the street from rival Geno's Steaks. It was founded in 1930 by brothers Pat and Harry Olivieri, who are credited with the creation of the cheesesteak.

Geno's Steaks is a Philadelphia restaurant specializing in cheesesteaks, founded in 1966 by Joey Vento. Geno's is located in South Philadelphia at the intersection of 9th Street and Passyunk Avenue, directly across the street from rival Pat's King of Steaks, which is generally credited with having invented the cheesesteak in 1933. The cheesesteak has since become a signature dish for the city of Philadelphia. After Joey Vento's death in 2011, restaurant ownership was passed to his son Geno Vento.
