South Humberside

Glanford was, from 1974 to 1996, a local government district with borough status in the non-metropolitan county of Humberside, England.

Glanford Brigg was a rural district in Lincolnshire, Parts of Lindsey from 1894 to 1974. It was formed under the Local Government Act 1894 from the Glanford Brigg rural sanitary district. It entirely surrounded the borough of Scunthorpe. It was enlarged slightly as several urban districts were abolished and incorporated into it. It absorbed Broughton in 1923 and then Roxby cum Risby and Winterton in 1936 (under a County Review Order.) In 1974 the district was abolished, being combined with Brigg Urban District and Barton upon Humber Urban District to form a new Glanford district.

Bonby is a village and civil parish in North Lincolnshire, England, and approximately 4 miles (6 km) south from Barton-upon-Humber. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 481, increasing to 532 at the 2011 census.The village was recorded in the Domesday Book under the name of "Bundebi".The Grade II listed Anglican parish church is dedicated to St Andrew. The church has an Early English nave and chancel, and a 17th-century brick tower. Bonby held a small priory, established by the Benedictine priory of St Fromund in Normandy. The priory was transferred to the Carthusian order at Beauvale, Nottinghamshire.

Bonby Priory was a priory in Lincolnshire, England. St. Andrews Church is all that remains of Bonby Priory, which was a Benedictine alien priory of St. Fromond Priory from 1199 to 1403. The priory was then rented to Beauvale Abbey and the church became parochial.

Worlaby is a village and civil parish in North Lincolnshire, England, 6 miles (10 km) south-west from Barton-Upon-Humber and 5 miles (8 km) north-east from Brigg. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 547. It lies on the B1204, and to the east of the River Ancholme. It is one of the five Low Villages – South Ferriby, Horkstow, Saxby All Saints, Bonby, and Worlaby – between Brigg and the Humber estuary, named so because of their position below the northern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. Worlaby was part of the Glanford district, a part of the former county of Humberside between 1974 and 1996. Before that it was in the North Lindsey division of Lindsey, Lincolnshire.

Saxby All Saints is a village and civil parish in North Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 385. It is 6 miles (9.7 km) north of Brigg and 4 miles (6.4 km) south-west of Barton upon Humber. Saxby All Saints is a conservation area, and one of the five Low Villages – Worlaby, Bonby, Saxby All Saints, Horkstow and South Ferriby, between Brigg and the Humber estuary – so-called because of their position below the northern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The Vale Academy is a co-educational secondary school with academy status on Atherton Way in the market town of Brigg, North Lincolnshire, England. The Vale Academy is one of two schools in Brigg, the other being Sir John Nelthorpe School, together they operate as the Brigg Sixth Form College.

Elsham railway station is a former railway station in Elsham, Lincolnshire, England. The station was opened by the Trent, Ancholme and Grimsby Railway on 1 October 1866 and like other T. A. & G. stations had staggered platforms. The station was the most easterly of the T. A. & G. stations the line, situated just a few miles from Wrawby Junction, Barnetby where it joined the M. S. & L. R. towards Grimsby. It was formally closed by British Rail on 3 October 1993. The final station master was Mr Robert Christopher Swinton, retired in 1966. Joint SM with Appleby Lincolnshire.

Brigg Town Football Club CIC is a football club based in Brigg, Lincolnshire, England. They are currently members of the Northern Counties East League Division One and play at the Hawthorns. Established in 1864, they are one of the oldest football clubs in the world.

The Sir John Nelthorpe School is a secondary school and sixth form on Grammar School Road and Wrawby Road in Brigg, North Lincolnshire, England. The present school was established in 1976, and has a timeline through earlier schools to that established by Sir John Nelthorpe in 1669.

The Buttercross, also known as Brigg Town Hall, is a municipal building in the Market Place in Brigg, Lincolnshire, England. The structure, which is used as a tourist information centre and as an events venue, is a Grade II listed building.
