Nam Wan

Tsing Yi Peak (Chinese: 青衣山, or Tsing I Peak formerly) or Sam Chi Heung (三支香) is a hill with three peaks occupying the southern half of the Tsing Yi Island, Hong Kong. The hill is situated on the western half of Victoria Harbour. Its peaks are good locations to observe the harbour and the channels among harbour islands. While situated in the south, a short hill Liu To Shan occupies the northwest of the island. The three peaks align along north and south, and their heights increase from north to south. The highest south peak is of 334 metres. There is a paved trail linking the three peaks. Two tunnels run beneath the hill. Cheung Tsing Tunnel goes through the north peak while Nam Wan Tunnel through the three peaks in diagonal. There is no vehicle access to the peaks. Most of the petroleum oil depots in Hong Kong are located on the south and west industrial area of the Tsing Yi Island. Tsing Yi Peak is a natural barrier protecting 200 thousand residents in the island north and east. Alternative indigenous name Sam Chi Heung (三支香) means three joss sticks associating with its shape of three peaks.

Nam Wan Tunnel is a tunnel in Hong Kong opened to traffic on 20 December 2009, along with the West Tsing Yi Viaduct, East Tsing Yi Viaduct and Stonecutters Bridge. The road tunnel, which forms an important part of the HK$15 billion Route 8, linking Tsing Yi and Sha Tin in the city, began construction since 2003 and was completed in 2007. The twin-tube tunnel, built by the Highways Department of the Government of Hong Kong, is 1.2 kilometres (0.75 mi) long and has three lanes in either direction in the southern part of Tsing Yi from Sai Tso Wan to Nam Wan Kok. It provides linkage between the eastern part of the New Territories and Hong Kong International Airport. The tunnel is toll-free. The twin tunnels are 15 metres (49 ft) wide with 12 cross-passages and emergency walkways, and a portal building at each end. They were formed by blasting through granite and volcanic rocks.

Tsing Yi, sometimes referred to as Tsing Yi Island, is an island in the urban area of Hong Kong, to the northwest of Hong Kong Island and south of Tsuen Wan. With an area of 10.69 km2 (4.13 sq mi), the island has extended drastically by reclamation along almost all its natural shore and the annexation of Nga Ying Chau (牙鷹洲) and Chau Tsai. Three major bays or harbours, Tsing Yi Lagoon, Mun Tsai Tong and Tsing Yi Bay (青衣灣) in the northeast, have been completely reclaimed for new towns. The island generally is zoned into four quarters: the northeast quarter is a residential area, the southeast quarter is Tsing Yi Town, the southwest holds heavy industry, and the northwest includes a recreation trail, a transportation interchange and some dockyards and ship building industry. The island is in the northwest of Victoria Harbour and part of its coastline is subject to the Protection of the Harbour Ordinance.

Cheung Tsing Highway (Chinese: 長青公路; Cantonese Yale: cheung4 ching1 gung1 lou6) is a highway of Route 3 between Cheung Tsing Tunnel and North West Tsing Yi Interchange on Tsing Yi Island, New Territories, Hong Kong. It was built as part of the Airport Core Programme together with the rest of Route 3 to provide a new highway link from North Western New Territories towards Hong Kong Island, and connects with Route 8 to provide access to the new Hong Kong International Airport. It leads to Tsing Long Highway at North West Tsing Yi Interchange, and also connects to Lantau Link and Tsing Yi Road West there. Its eastern end leads into Cheung Tsing Tunnel which is connected to Tsing Kwai Highway by Cheung Tsing Bridge. In the early morning of 30 November 2018, a coach ferrying workers to Hong Kong International Airport collided with a broken-down taxi on the highway, killing six people – the coach driver, the taxi driver and four of the coach passengers. The coach driver was suspected to have fallen asleep, and had previously been involved in two other early-morning coach accidents in 2018. On 5 December, a memorial service for four of the victims was held at the accident site on the portion of Cheung Tsing Highway in Tsing Yi; the section of road was closed for two hours.

Sai Shan (Chinese: 細山) is a hill behind Mayfair Gardens on Tsing Yi Island, Hong Kong. The hill is east of and beneath the northern peak of Tsing Yi Peak. A village, Sai Shan Village is in the valley between Sai Shan and Tsing Yi Peak. A road, Sai Shan Road between Mayfair Gardens and Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi) is named after the hill.

Tai Nam Wan (Chinese: 大南灣), or Nam Wan (南環, correctly 南灣), was a bay on the south coast of Tsing Yi Island, Hong Kong. The bay was reclaimed for Tsing Yi Power Station operated by China Light and Power. As there is another south bay, Nam Wan (南灣), near Sai Tso Wan to the west of the island, some people refer to this bigger one as big south bay. The Chinese name Nam Wan (南環) is a mistaken form of Nam Wan (南灣). The two characters for Wan in Cantonese are pronounced identically except for the tone.

Sai Shan Village is a village on Tsing Yi Island, Hong Kong. The village was beneath the valley of Sai Shan and Tsing Yi Peak near Mayfair Gardens and the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi). A stream runs from the valley was water source for agriculture in the village. Part of the village was demolished to reduce the risk of flooding and align with Hong Kong Government policy on squatters. The land was replaced by a small park. The village is reachable from a trail starting from a bus stop adjacent to Ching Hong Road and Mayfair Gardens. Another trail leading to another valley with graveyards and fields lies high up between the middle peak and northern peak of Tsing Yi Peak.

The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) is the member institution of the Vocational Training Council (VTC) which provides vocationally-oriented bachelor's degree programmes for HKDSE candidates. Programmes offered by the Faculties of Design, Management and Hospitality, and Science and Technology feature a fine balance of theory, practice and general education with a focus on real-life projects and industrial attachments to develop competent professionals for the industry.

Mayfair Gardens (Chinese: 美景花園) is the first private housing estate on Tsing Yi, Hong Kong. It was built by Sun Hung Kai Properties and established between 1982 and 1984. The estate is composed of eight residential buildings, namely Blocks 5 to 12.

Nam Wan Kok (Chinese: 南灣角) is a cape in the southeast corner of Tsing Yi Island, Hong Kong. Its coast was reclaimed and became Container Terminal 9. The Nam Wan Tunnel and Stonecutters Bridge meet there. The Chinese name of Nam Wan Kok means the cape of Tai Nam Wan, a bay beside the cape.

Lok Sin Tong Leung Chik Wai Memorial School (Chinese: 樂善堂梁植偉紀念中學) is a secondary school on Tsing Yi Island in Hong Kong. Situated within the fifth phase of Cheung Hong Estate near Liu To, the school was founded on 8 April 1986 by Lok Sin Tong, a charity based in Kowloon. It was the fourth secondary school on the island.

Po Leung Kuk Lo Kit Sing (1983) College (Chinese: 保良局羅傑承(一九八三)中學) is a Hong Kong secondary school. Located in Cheung Hong Estate, Tsing Yi, New Territories, the subsidised secondary school was founded by Po Leung Kuk, a Hong Kong charitable organisation, in 1984. It was the first secondary school on the island. The school was named as Po Leung Kuk 1983 Board of Directors' College (Chinese: 保良局八三年總理中學) before 2011.
