West Norristown Historic District

Main Street station is a SEPTA Regional Rail station in Norristown, Pennsylvania, United States. It serves the Manayunk/Norristown Line. It is one of the two stations on the short electrified branch to Elm Street in Norristown. This branch leaves the main (diesel-only) line to Pottsville and Reading. Currently owned by Norfolk Southern Railway, the Reading Railroad once operated passenger service on that line. The station has 76 parking spaces. It is located at Main and Markley Streets. In FY 2013, Main Street station had a weekday average of 189 boardings and 181 alightings.

Selma Mansion is one of the oldest structures in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Located on the western edge of the town, Selma was built by General Andrew Porter in 1794 around an existing structure purchased from Alexander McCammon in 1786. Porter was a soldier during the American Revolutionary War and helped found the Continental Marines, forerunner of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was later appointed Surveyor General, helped lay out the borders of the commonwealth and attained the rank of general.

Gen. Thomas J. Stewart Memorial Armory, also known as Norristown Armory, is a historic National Guard armory located at Norristown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1927-1928, and is a "T"-plan building consisting of a two-story administration building with a two-story rear drill hall section executed in the Classical Revival style. The building is constructed of yellow brick on a concrete foundation, with decorative stonework and a parapet.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Barbadoes Island is an island in the Schuylkill River in West Norriton Township, south of Norristown in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. Southbound U.S. Route 202 and various localized rail lines cross over the eastern tip of the island. It is about 90 acres (36 ha) in size.

Norristown is a municipality (with home rule status) and the county seat of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Located along the Schuylkill River approximately 6 miles (9.7 km) from the Philadelphia city limits, Norristown has a population of 34,324 as of the 2010 U.S. Census. It is the fourth most populous municipality in the county and second most populous borough in Pennsylvania. It is the largest non-township municipality in Montgomery County.

Norristown State Hospital, originally known as the State Lunatic Hospital at Norristown, is an active state-funded psychiatric hospital located outside the city of Philadelphia in suburban Norristown, Pennsylvania. It was originally designed between 1878 and 1880, by the local firm of Wilson Brothers & Company; of which, the original structure was set in a red brick Victorian High Gothic motif. It remains active for its originally clinical intention, and currently serving Bucks County, Chester County, Delaware County, Montgomery County and Philadelphia County, providing clinical services in General Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry. Additionally, there are various agencies that sublet state hospital buildings for a variety of psychiatric, residential and social services. These agencies currently make up the majority of services that are offered on the grounds of the hospital. In February 2018, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania announced that they would be closing the civil unit at Norristown State permanently. There have been some voices of dissent among the public, as the majority of these patients would be redirected to community residential settings and outpatient psychiatry. This closure will re-route remaining civil psychiatric beds north to Danville State Hospital in Montour County, Pennsylvania. The forensic facilities at Norristown, however, will remain active well into the foreseeable future, as it is one of only two such facilities in Pennsylvania.

Norristown Transportation Center is a two-level multimodal public transportation regional hub located in Norristown, Pennsylvania, USA, operated by SEPTA. It opened in 1989 to replace the older Norristown High Speed Line (Route 100) terminus one block away at Main and Swede Streets, and integrated the former Reading Company DeKalb Street Norristown railroad station (built 1933) into its structure. A plaque embedded in the sidewalk (between the bus lane and Lafayette Street) commemorates the location of one of the columns of the dismantled segment of the Philadelphia and Western Railroad (P&W) trestle.

Norristown Farm Park is a 690-acre (279 ha) Pennsylvania state park in East Norriton and West Norriton Townships and Norristown in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. Located just off of Interstate 276 on West Germantown Pike, it is operated in partnership with the Montgomery County Department of Parks. A working farm on the site of Norristown State Hospital, the park has multiple colonial-era farm buildings and homes on its grounds.Stony Creek flows through the park. Baseball, bicycling, cross-country skiing, hiking, fishing, and picnicking opportunities are available in the park, as are summer musical concerts.

It is one of over 200 Coptic Orthodox Churches in the US. The church belongs to Coptic Diocese of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware & West Virginia.

Montgomery Cemetery is a historic cemetery located near the Schuylkill River on Hartranft Avenue and along Jackson Street in West Norriton Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, immediately adjacent to and southwest of the Municipality of Norristown. Founded in the late 1840s, the cemetery is the final resting place of several high-ranking Civil War officers, as well as one of the former governors of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The cemetery is adjacent to Riverside Cemetery, which was founded a half century later, during the fin de siècle era of the 19th century. The cemetery is currently administered by the Historical Society of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, located in Norristown, Pennsylvania.

Central Norristown Historic District is a national historic district located in Norristown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It encompasses approximately 1,900 buildings in the central business district and surrounding residential areas of Norristown. Notable buildings include the Montgomery County Courthouse, Philadelphia and Western Railroad Station (1931), Scheidt Brewery, Montgomery County Jail, Y.M.C.A, Odd Fellows Hall, and a variety of workers' housing and imposing dwellings.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) was founded in Norristown, Pennsylvania, United States and is located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It is one of 29 Intermediate Units formed by the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 1971 to provide support to local school districts. Created to replace the County Office of Superintendent, Intermediate Units provide special services as needed by the educational community in their service area. MCIU services are designed to align with the educational and social service needs of Montgomery County's schools. It was originally located at 1605 West Main Street in rural Norristown, before being moved to a much larger location at 2 West Lafayette Street in downtown Norristown in 2017. The MCIU is governed by a 22-member board of directors composed of representatives from each of the 22 component school districts in Montgomery County. Services are provided through nine divisions: Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development; Human Resources; Technology and Information Services; Legislative Services and Grant Development; Financial and Management Services; Nonpublic School Services; PaTTAN; Special Education, and Communications. Funding sources include state subsidy, government and foundation grants, contributions from districts and fees for service.
