Burnt Lands alvar

The Almonte Detachment was a military-operated radio communications receiver station linked by land line to CFS Carp located in Burnt Lands alvar off Lanark County Road 49 East of Almonte, Ontario, Canada. A second antenna receiver site was located further east near Dunrobin, Ontario; the Dunrobin Detachment. Both of these sites were linked to CFS Carp Richardson Detachment, which was a remote-operated transmitting site. CFS Carp Almonte Detachment was unmanned and the location primarily used as a remote antenna farm. After the end of the Cold War, CFS Carp was decommissioned and the antenna site was no longer needed.The land is now part of the Burnt Lands Provincial Park.

Corkery is a dispersed rural community in West Carleton-March Ward in the western part of Ottawa, Canada. It is located about 9 km southwest of Carp, in the former Township of West Carleton. Corkery was founded by approximately 100 Irish families from County Cork immigrating to the region in the early 19th century, locally known as the "Peter Robinson settlers".The first church in the village was built in 1837, although some reports put it at 1824 which would make it the second-oldest Catholic church in the Ottawa region. Construction began in 1864 on a stone church meant to replace the wooden structure. On February 26, 1865 the church was completed and consecrated as St. Michael's Catholic Parish. The parish operated in debt for nearly two decades, until Rev. Patrick Corkery became minister in 1884, and spent the next twenty years improving and renovating the church.

Almonte and District High School (ADHS) is a public high school in the Upper Canada District School Board. It is located in Almonte, Ontario, which since 1998 has been a ward of the town of Mississippi Mills. Its catchment area includes Almonte itself and most of rural Mississippi Mills.

The North Lanark Regional Museum is a museum in Ontario, Canada that was started and managed by the North Lanark Historical Society to collect, preserve, and display the history of Mississippi Mills. It is a member of Ontario Museum Association (OMA).

The Indian River is a river in Lanark County in Eastern Ontario, Canada. It is in the Saint Lawrence River drainage basin and is a left tributary of the Mississippi River.

The Panmure Alvar is an alvar that lies on a limestone plain straddling the north eastern edge of Lanark County and the western boundary of the City of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, east of the town of Pakenham. In alvars, shallow soil with alternating drought and flooding conditions creates open clearings with distinctive plant and animal communities. Fire may also play a role.The forests are mostly white cedar, white spruce and poplar, with openings dominated by common juniper. The alvar clearings contain regionally significant plants such as Crawe's sedge (Carex crawei) and Hookedspur violet (Viola adunca). A total of 82 native plant species have been recorded from this location, including the provincially significant Cooper's milk vetch (Astragalus neglectus).The nearest alvar is the provincially significant Burnt Lands alvar. Panmure is considered to be the second best example of limestone plain with open alvar in the Smiths Falls Plain physiographic region of site district 6-11. About 725 hectares (1,790 acres) are considered as a candidate Area of Natural and Scientific Interest.The TransCanada natural gas pipeline goes through the middle of the alvar.

The Mill of Kintail Conservation Area is a 152 acres (62 ha) preserve operated by the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority, in Mississippi Mills, Ontario, Canada.The preserve features an 1830s grist mill that was a former summer home and sculpture studio of medical doctor, sculptor and Ramsay Township native, R. Tait McKenzie who kept the mill in the 20th century. The mill is home to the R. Tait Mackenzie Museum, which features many of the artist's sculptures and memorabilia, and the Naismith Museum about James Naismith, another famous native of Ramsay Township and the inventor of basketball.

Huntley is a former incorporated and now geographic township in Carleton County in eastern Ontario, Canada. Huntley was located in the western part of the county, bordered to the northwest by Fitzroy Township, to the northeast by March Township, to the southwest by Ramsay Township and to the southeast by Goulbourn Township. It includes the communities of Carp, Corkery, Huntley, Manion Corners, and Westwood. According to the Canada 2021 Census, the Township had a population of 10,922.

West Carleton was a township municipality in Eastern Ontario, Canada. It was located in the rural parts of what is now the City of Ottawa, west of Kanata. Its northern boundary was the Ottawa River. The township was created in 1974 with the amalgamation of three townships: Torbolton, Fitzroy, and Huntley. In 2001 it was amalgamated with Cumberland, Gloucester, Goulbourn, Kanata, Nepean, Osgoode, Ottawa, Rideau, Rockcliffe Park and Vanier to form the new city of Ottawa.
