Coychurch Lower

Coychurch (Welsh: Llangrallo) is a small village that sits between Pencoed and Bridgend in Wales, bordering with Bridgend Industrial Estate, where many residents are employed. It is part of the community of Coychurch Lower.

Brackla East and Coychurch Lower (Welsh: Dwyrain Brackla a Llangrallo Isaf) is the name of an electoral ward in Bridgend County Borough, Wales. It covers the community of Coychurch Lower and part of the community of Brackla. The ward elects two councillors to Bridgend County Borough Council.

The Ford Bridgend Engine Plant was an internal combustion engine factory owned by Ford of Europe and located in Bridgend, Wales. Between 1980 and 2020, it made over 22 million engines used in Ford, Volvo, Jaguar and Land Rover cars.The plant's last Ford engine was the "Dragon" EcoBoost engine, produced from 2018 until February 2020. During its final months, it only made Jaguar AJ-V8 and AJ-V6 engines, themselves discontinued in September 2020.Amid a global cost-cutting drive and citing a lack of demand for its manufacturing capacity, Ford closed the plant on 25 September 2020.

Schwyll Aquifer (pronounced 'Shwill') was historically known as 'the Great Spring of Glamorgan'. Welsh Water uses the resurgence at the Schwyll Spring near Ewenny in the Vale of Glamorgan as the main source of water for the Bridgend area. Now functioning as a backup supply, it has a number of associated source protection zones policed by Natural Resources Wales. The aquifer is an underground layer of water-bearing permeable rock. In this case, it consists of an underground waterway in the carboniferous limestone. Due to the delay between local heavy rain and discoloration of the water at the spring, it is believed that the origination is 20 miles away. This would locate the main source in the limestone of the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons. The lack of an access at the rising hinders exploration of the cave system. The only known point of access is at the pumping shaft of the extraction plant at Schwyll. The system was explored by cave divers in 1998 to 440 metres from the shaft. At 400 metres, a large cavern was discovered containing bones which were identified as horse. The bones were submitted for dating. The outflow of the spring is far larger than any other spring in Wales and greater than that from the Wookey Hole or the Cheddar Gorge risings in England.

ROF Bridgend, (Filling Factory No. 2), located in Bridgend, South Wales, was one of the largest of sixteen World War II, UK government-owned, Royal Ordnance Factory munitions Filling Factories. Of great significance to the Britain's war effort, at its peak of production it employed around 40,000 people — said to be the largest ever factory in Britain's history.

Brackla (Welsh: Bracla) is a large housing estate and community in the east of Bridgend in Bridgend County Borough, Wales. Along with the communities of Bridgend and Coychurch Lower, it makes up the town of Bridgend. At the 2001 census the community of Brackla had a population of 10,113, increasing to 11,749 at the 2011 Census, making up nearly a quarter of Bridgend's population.

St Canna Church is a church in Llangan, in the Vale of Glamorgan, south Wales. Its churchyard cross is a Grade I listed building, listed on 22 July 2003.The church is believed to date from the 12th or 13th century. It is said to have been rebuilt in 1820, but by 1875 it was described as being deserted and full of insects, snails and weeds. A publication four years later stated that the church was "about to be removed" because the population had moved away from the area.The church is said to have been extensively rebuilt in 1856 with more work being done in 1869. Many of its original features were destroyed during this time period. A school room was added to the structure in 1881. In 1909 a pre-Norman cross was discovered in the garden of the church rectory. The cross is believed to date from the ninth century; it was not intact when found but was pieced together. The church rectory, where the Celtic cross was found, became a Grade II listed building 22 July 2003.In 1932 a stained glass window was installed behind the altar to the memory of Reverend David Jones, the parish priest and an early supporter of Welsh Calvinistic Methodism, who was known as the "Angel of Llangan" for his religious work in the village. The church has two bells, one possibly dating from medieval times and one cast in 1891; both were rehung in the bell tower in 2005. The church vestry had been closed for some time because it was in extreme disrepair. In 2010 a grant to aid community projects was received and the vestry was able to be repaired. It now serves as a meeting place for the church and the community.

St Mary Hill (Welsh: Eglwys Fair Y Mynydd) is a settlement in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It is located approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) north west of the market town of Cowbridge. It is part of the community of Llangan along with Treoes and the village of Llangan itself.
