Maclaren Cemetery is a small cemetery in the town of Wakefield, Quebec and the final resting place for Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson. Established near the 1870s, the cemetery is located in the clearing below the hills bordering the Gatineau River and is the resting place for Scottish settlers in the area. Notable persons interred here include: David Maclaren – settler and namesake of the cemetery Malak Karsh (1915–2001) – Canadian photographer. Ian Kerr (1965–2019) – law professor and privacy expert. Geoffrey Pearson (1927–2008) – diplomat and son of Lester B. Pearson. Lester B. Pearson (1897–1972) – 14th Prime Minister of Canada and Nobel Peace Prize winner. Norman Robertson (1904–1968) – diplomat and friend of Pearson and Wrong. Humphrey Hume Wrong (1894–1954) – diplomat and friend of Pearson and Robertson. Laurier LaPierre (1929-2012) – Senator, professor, broadcaster, journalist and author. Wrong was his ex-wife's uncle.

The La Pêche River (French: Rivière la Pêche) is a river in western Quebec, in Canada, which drains La Pêche Lake (Lac La Pêche) in Gatineau Park and empties into the Gatineau River at Wakefield.

Wakefield is one of many villages of the municipality of La Pêche, with the village centre on the western shore of the Gatineau River, at the confluence of the La Pêche River in the Outaouais region of the province of Quebec in Canada. It is thirty-five kilometres northwest of Ottawa, Ontario. The village, named after the city of Wakefield in West Yorkshire, England, is now the southern edge of the municipality of La Pêche, and was founded in 1830 by Irish, Scottish, and English immigrants. Wakefield is approximately a twenty-five-minute drive north of the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge that divides Gatineau and Ottawa (Ontario), along the Autoroute 5, a modern four lane divided highway which has recently been extended to the village. Wakefield is unique as a primarily Anglophone town in a primarily Francophone province.

Gatineau is a provincial electoral district in the Outaouais region of Quebec, Canada which elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably includes parts of the city of Gatineau as well as Val-des-Monts, Cantley and La Pêche. It was created from parts of Hull for the 1931 election. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it gained Val-des-Monts from Papineau electoral district, but lost some territory to Chapleau electoral district.

La Pêche (French: [la pɛːʃ], locally [la paɪ̯ʃ]; meaning "Fishing") is a municipality along both sides of the Gatineau River in Les Collines-de-l'Outaouais Regional County Municipality in the Outaouais region of Quebec, Canada, about 30 km (19 mi) north of downtown Gatineau. Bordering on the north side of the Gatineau Park, La Pêche provides multiple access points to this park. La Pêche was declared Quebec's first and Canada's second fair trade town on November 9, 2007.

Rupert is a village located about 10 kilometers NNW of Wakefield, Quebec, at the convergence of the Shouldice Road and Maple Drive. On December 9, 1944, a fire destroyed the Rupert General Store. The article from the Evening Citizen (now the Ottawa Citizen) on that date reads: "Fire Razes Home And Rupert General Store. WAKEFIELD, Dec, 9 -(Special)- Despite a determined effort by neighbors to extinguish the blaze, a fire of undetermined origin destroyed the general store and home of Wes Shouldice at Rupert, Que, about five o'clock this morning. No estimate of the damage could be obtained but the loss is said to be partly covered by insurance. The fire started in the store and quickly spread to the home next door. Immediately the blaze was noticed, residents formed a bucket brigade to combat the flames. None of the stock could be removed from the store but several household articles were taken from the burning home." Rupert has an ice rink, community center, and a library. It is served by a United Church located in the village.

Lac Philippe is a medium-sized lake located on the north side of Gatineau Park. The lake is one of a chain of freshwater lakes found within the Gatineau park that drain into the Gatineau River through Meech Creek. It is one of the largest bodies of water in the northernmost stretches of the park, along with lac La Pêche (Fishing Lake) and lac des Loups (Lake of the Wolves), which are located in the extreme northwestern reaches. The lake is approximately a 45-minute drive from Ottawa

The Gatineau Hills (French: Collines de la Gatineau) are a geological formation in Canada that makes up part of the southern tip of the Canadian Shield, and acts as the northern shoulder of the Ottawa Valley. They are also the foothills of the Laurentian Mountains which stretch east through Quebec, beginning north of Montreal and joining up with others into Vermont and New Hampshire.

Sommet Edelweiss is a ski area located in Wakefield, Quebec, 30 minutes north of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, in the Gatineau Hills.

Cascades Water Aerodrome (TC LID: CTY3) is located 1.7 nautical miles (3.1 km; 2.0 mi) north of Cascades on the Gatineau River, Quebec, Canada. It is open from mid-April to mid-December.

Gatineau Park (French: Parc de la Gatineau) is a federal park located in the Outaouais region of Quebec, Canada. Administered by the National Capital Commission as part of the National Capital Region, Gatineau Park is a 361 square kilometres (139 sq mi) wedge of land extending north and west from the city of Gatineau. With a perimeter of 179.2 kilometres (111.3 mi), the park includes parts of the municipalities of Chelsea, Pontiac, La Pêche, and the City of Gatineau. The main entrance to the park is 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) north of downtown Ottawa, Ontario. The park's area has a long history of human inhabitation and usage predating the arrival of European settlers. Its more recent pre-park history includes various forms of human exploitation such as farming, logging, hunting, and industrial activity. The idea of creating a park in the Gatineau Hills for recreational purposes was proposed as early as 1903. In 1938 money was allotted for the acquisition of Gatineau woodlands (for preservation) and the construction of a parkway. The Government of Canada maintains a conference centre at Meech Lake, known as Willson House, the site of meetings leading to a failed attempt to reform Canada's Constitution in 1987, the Meech Lake Accord. There are significant ongoing controversies about the administration of the park, including its status as the only federal park that is not part of the national parks system, the existence and construction of private residences inside it, residents' extensive violation of shoreline protection bylaws at Meech Lake, and changes to its boundaries without the knowledge of parliament. For instance, inspection reports carried out by the Municipality of Chelsea in 2013 and 2015 confirm that 119 structures have been built without permit at Meech Lake, and that 80% of Meech Lake residents whose properties were inspected continue to violate county bylaw MRC 137-09 several years after it was adopted.

Harrington Lake (French: La résidence du lac Mousseau) is the summer residence and all-season retreat of the prime minister of Canada, and also the name of the land which surrounds it. The farm that surrounded most of the lake was the property of Margaret and John Harrington. John could not farm the land and moved to the local town of Iron Sides (now Old Chelsea). The family stayed on the farm for many years and eventually moved to old Ottawa. The property is located near Meech Lake—where the Meech Lake Accord was negotiated in 1987—approximately 35 kilometres northwest of Ottawa, in Gatineau Park, amidst the Gatineau Hills in Quebec. The property is not open to the public, but the Mackenzie King Estate, the retreat of Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King at Kingsmere, is a tourist attraction located 2 kilometres south in the park.
