Stavanger District Court

Ryfylke District Court (Norwegian: Ryfylke tingrett) was a district court in Rogaland county, Norway. The court was based in the city of Stavanger. The court existed from 1591 until 2007. It had jurisdiction over the Ryfylke area of the county which included the municipalities of Finnøy, Forsand, Hjelmeland, Kvitsøy, Randaberg, Rennesøy, Sauda, Strand, and Suldal. Cases from this court could be appealed to Gulating Court of Appeal.The court was a court of first instance. Its judicial duties were mainly to settle criminal cases and to resolve civil litigation as well as bankruptcy. The administration and registration tasks of the court included death registration, issuing certain certificates, performing duties of a notary public, and officiating civil wedding ceremonies. Cases from this court were heard by a combination of professional judges and lay judges.

Sør-Rogaland District Court (Norwegian: Sør-Rogaland tingrett) is a district court located in Rogaland and Agder counties in Norway. This court is based at three different courthouses which are located in Stavanger, Sandnes, and Egersund. The court serves the southern part of Rogaland plus one municipality (Sirdal) in western Agder. The court takes cases from 17 municipalities. The court in Egersund accepts cases from the municipalities of Bjerkreim, Eigersund, Gjesdal, Lund, Sirdal, and Sokndal. The court in Sandnes accepts cases from the municipalities of Hå, Klepp, Sandnes, and Time. The court in Stavanger accepts cases from the municipalities of Hjelmeland, Kvitsøy, Randaberg, Sola, Stavanger, and Strand. The court is subordinate to the Gulating Court of Appeal.The court is led by a chief judge (sorenskriver) and several other judges. The court is a court of first instance. Its judicial duties are mainly to settle criminal cases and to resolve civil litigation as well as bankruptcy. St. Petri Church (Norwegian: St. Petri kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in the large Stavanger Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the borough of Storhaug which lies near the centre of the city of Stavanger in the far southwestern part of the municipality. It is one of the two churches for the Domkirken og St. Petri parish which is part of the Stavanger domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The red, brick church was built in a long church style in 1866 using designs by the architect Fritz von der Lippe. The church seats about 900 people. The church is informally called the Petrikirken.

Stavanger Cathedral (Norwegian: Stavanger domkirke) is Norway's oldest cathedral and the seat of the Bishop of Stavanger who leads the Diocese of Stavanger in the Church of Norway. It is located in the centre of the city of Stavanger which lies in the southwestern part of the large Stavanger Municipality in central Rogaland county, Norway. The church is situated in the centre of the city, in the borough of Storhaug between Breiavatnet in the south, the square with Vågen in the north west, the cathedral square in the north, and Kongsgård in the southwest. It is one of the two churches for the Domkirken og St. Petri parish which is part of the Stavanger domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The gray, stone church was built in a long church style around the year 1125 using designs by an unknown architect. The church seats about 800 people.

The former Catholic Diocese of Stavanger in Norway included the modern counties of Rogaland and Agder together with the regions of Valdres and Hallingdal and the parishes of Eidfjord and Røldal from Hordaland. It existed from the beginning of the 12th century to the Protestant Reformation.

Stavangerpark, also known as the city park, is located around Breiavatnet in the centre of Stavanger, Norway. It is a quiet park, with a lot of doves, ducks, swans and other birds. The Stavanger Cathedral, which dates from around the year 1100, is located in the park.

Stavanger Cathedral School (Norwegian: Stavanger katedralskole) is an upper secondary school in the city of Stavanger, Rogaland county, Norway. It is spread over two areas; the traditional Kongsgård and the school's new building in Bjergsted. The school has 555 students and 94 staff members as of 2017.

Breiavatnet is a small lake in the municipality of Stavanger in Rogaland county, Norway. The 0.031-square-kilometre (7.7-acre) lake is very shallow, only a few feet deep. The lake gets its water from the Kannikbekken stream, which flows from the Mosvatnet lake and runs through the city (the stream was put mostly underground in culverts and pipes in 1899). A decorative fountain was installed in the middle of the lake in 1924. The lake lies in the city centre of Stavanger, on the border of the boroughs of Storhaug and Eiganes og Våland. The Stavanger Cathedral, the City Park, and Stavanger Cathedral School lie on the northern shore of the lake. The Stavanger train station is located on the south shore of the lake.The lake is the home of various birds, such as swans, seagulls, ducks, and sparrows. There are scarcely any fish in the water, and an old story from the area says that only the principal of Stavanger Cathedral School is the only one with rights to go fishing in Breiavatnet.

Bergjeland or Bergeland is a neighborhood (delområde) in the city of Stavanger which lies in the southwestern part of the large municipality of Stavanger in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the northern part of the borough of Storhaug, and it includes part of the city centre. The neighborhood has a population of 3,146 which is distributed over an area of 0.88 square kilometres (0.34 sq mi). The Bergeland Upper Secondary School and the Bergeland Tunnel are both notable places in the neighborhood.

Frue Church or Hetland Church (Norwegian: Frue kirke/Hetlandskirken) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Stavanger Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the borough of Storhaug in the centre of the city of Stavanger. It is one of the two churches for the St. Johannes parish which is part of the Stavanger domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The white, wooden church was built in the long church style in 1854 using designs by the architect Hans Hansen Kaas. The church seats about 700 people. The church was originally built as the main church for the old municipality of Hetland and it was known as Hetland Church, but after it was merged into the city of Stavanger, the church has been officially known as Frue Church, however the old name is still in use.

Stavanger Station (Norwegian: Stavanger stasjon) is a railway station in Stavanger municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the centre of the city of Stavanger and it is the terminus of the Sørlandet Line. The station is served by regional trains to Kristiansand and the Jæren Commuter Rail.
