Christ Church, Taita

Taitā () is one of the northernmost suburbs of the city of Lower Hutt in New Zealand, situated toward the northern end of the city. It lies considerably south of the Taitā Gorge which separates Lower Hutt City from Upper Hutt City, and to the west of the Taitā Cemetery in the suburb of Naenae. The historic Christ Church, erected in 1853, is the oldest surviving church building in the Wellington region. Taitā's urban development began around the middle of the 20th century as part of the Labour Government's state-housing scheme. The Taita Railway Station opened in 1947 to serve the developing suburb. The main road through the western part of the suburb, Taita Drive, has its southern end in the suburb of Avalon, south of the Kennedy-Good Bridge. On the eastern side of Taitā, above Taita College, stand the buildings of the former Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) Soil Bureau. The Soil Bureau became part of Landcare Research New Zealand Limited in 1992 and much of the functionality formerly carried out at Taitā has moved to the Turitea campus of Massey University in Palmerston North. In December 2019, the approved official geographic name of the suburb was gazetted as "Taitā".

Taita College is a state co-educational secondary school located in Taita, Lower Hutt, New Zealand. It was founded in 1957 and serves years 9 to 13 (ages 13 to 18). The school has a roll of 377 (August 2024) students.

Wingate is a mixed residential and industrial neighbourhood of Lower Hutt, in the Wellington Region of New Zealand's North Island. Served by Wingate Railway Station, the area comprises parts of the suburbs of Taitā, Avalon and Naenae. The area is home to many of Lower Hutt's manufacturing and export-oriented businesses.The area was named after the British general, Orde Wingate, who was killed in an air crash in Burma in 1944. Wingate Railway Station was opened in 1950.

Fraser Park is Lower Hutt's largest recreational sportsground, at 27 hectares it is the biggest sporting ground in the lower North Island. It is home to the Ricoh Sports Centre, a multi-use venue, as well as sports like rugby, rugby league, football, touch football, cricket, kilikiti (Samoan cricket) and softball.

Pomare is a residential neighbourhood of Lower Hutt, in the Wellington Region of New Zealand's North Island. It comprises the northern part of the suburb of Taitā, and includes the Pomare Railway Station and Pomare School.The suburb is named after either Māui Pōmare (Ngāti Mutunga), who served as Minister of Health from 1923 to 1926, or an early Māori chief in the area. Pomare Railway Station opened in 1954. State housing in the area has been redeveloped by Housing New Zealand since 2011 after years of social neglect and gang problems.

Pitcaithly’s railway station and siding was a station on the Hutt Valley Line section of the Wairarapa Line in New Zealand north of Melling, which ran up the western side of the valley until 1954. It was replaced by Andrews railway station in 1938.

The Television New Zealand Archive collection contains over 600,000 hours of television spanning almost 55 years of New Zealand's public television history. It includes New Zealand content such as documentaries, dramas, sports programmes and every TVNZ news broadcast from December 1986 to 2014. The archive only holds titles that have previously been broadcast – raw footage is not included. The archive also includes thousands of photographic stills. Both TVNZ and the Ministry for Culture and Heritage hold a list of the titles held in the TVNZ Archive collection. This has subsequently been released under the Official Information Act. The Ministry considers the majority of titles to be of high heritage and cultural value and the Minister of Broadcasting Craig Foss stated it was a "unique record of life in New Zealand". The contents of the collection are subject to the Public Records Act 2005. In 2014 the Ministry for Culture and Heritage, on behalf of the Crown, became the guardian of the archive. The physical collection is located in the Wellington region, in the former TVNZ Avalon facility now owned by the Department of Internal Affairs.

Andrews Railway Station was a station on the Hutt Valley Line section of the Wairarapa Line in New Zealand. The line ran up the western side of the valley until 28 February 1954 when the Melling-Belmont section of the line closed. Andrews was north of Melling and the Belmont stations, but south of Gosse & Co’s siding, on the closed section of line.

Naenae (, occasionally spelled NaeNae) is a suburb of Lower Hutt, New Zealand. It lies on the eastern edge of the floodplain of the Hutt River, four kilometres from the Lower Hutt Central business district. A small tributary of the Hutt, the Waiwhetū Stream, flows through the suburb. Naenae lies 19.7 km from Wellington Central.

The Hutt Valley (or 'The Hutt') is the large area of fairly flat land in the Hutt River valley in the Wellington region of New Zealand. Like the river that flows through it, it takes its name from Sir William Hutt, a director of the New Zealand Company in early colonial New Zealand. The river flows roughly along the course of an active geologic fault, which continues to the south to become the main instrument responsible for the uplift of the South Island's Southern Alps. For this reason, the land rises abruptly to the west of the river; to the east two floodplains have developed. The higher of these is between 15–22 km (9.3–13.7 mi) from the mouth of the river. Beyond this, the river is briefly confined by a steep-sided gorge near Taitā, before the land opens up into a long triangular plain close to the outflow into Wellington Harbour. The Waiwhetu Aquifer is formed from water seeping underground from the Hutt River near Taitā. It flows underground down the Hutt Valley and out under Wellington Harbour.

Avalon is a suburb of Lower Hutt in New Zealand, formed as a private residential development in the 1970s on land formerly occupied by market-gardens on the left (eastern) bank of the Hutt River. It features mostly California-inspired designed houses, often split-level, with 3 or 4 bedrooms. It also features one of the biggest park/playground in Lower HuttThe Hutt City Council formally defines Avalon as the area bounded by Percy Cameron Street and the Wingate Overbridge in the north, the Hutt Valley rail line in the east, Fairway Drive and Daysh Street in the south, and the Hutt River in the west.

Kimi Ora School Wellington is a special needs school in Wellington, New Zealand, for students with disabilities. Kimi ora is Maori for "seeking well-being in health" or "to be made whole". Kimi Ora Specialist School caters for High and Very high special needs pupils of primary and secondary school age to adulthood, or ages 5 to 21, and draws pupils from the Wellington region, up to the Kapiti Coast and the Hutt Valley. The school offers an holistic approach to education. Speech language therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy are offered on site, on an ongoing basis, and add an extra dimension to each student's education. The school had been located in Thorndon for nearly 60 years before it was decided to leave the area in 2011 allowing it to increase its roll. The move allowed Kimi Ora to increase its roll from 35 to 40 students (22 at Naenae and 18 at Evans Bay). In the beginning of 2011 the new Kimi Ora Base School was opened next to the existing intermediate schools in Naenae (Lower Hutt) and a satellite unit in Evans Bay (Kilbirnie). The Base School has been awarded by the New Zealand Green Building Council with a 5 Star Green Star NZ - Education 2009 Certified Rating. Kimi Ora School now has a roll of 99 students as at 2023. There are now five sites covering the Lower Hutt and Wellington region. The Base school in Naenae, a satellite with 3 classes located at Pomare Primary School in Lower Hutt, a satellite with 1 class located in the Manaaki Disability Trust in Lower Hutt, a satellite with 2 classes at Miramar Central School in Wellington and a satellite with 3 classes located on the grounds of Evans Bay Intermediate in Wellington.
