Oil Region National Heritage Area

Oil Creek is a 46.7-mile (75.2 km) tributary of the Allegheny River that is located in Venango and Crawford counties in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the United States.

The Veterans Memorial Bridge is a girder bridge connecting the North Side and South Side neighborhoods of Oil City, Pennsylvania. Built in 1990, the bridge was one of several similar structures constructed during a decade that saw major replacements of Upper Allegheny crossings; an original truss bridge on the site dated to the 1910s. The bridge, which features one northbound and two southbound lanes, is significantly longer than others along this stretch of river. This is mainly due to its crossing of a riverfront park on the Oil City shores.

Oil City is the largest city in Venango County, Pennsylvania, United States. Known for its prominence in the initial exploration and development of the petroleum industry, it is located at a bend in the Allegheny River at the mouth of Oil Creek. The population was 9,608 at the 2020 census, and it is the principal city of the Oil City micropolitan area. Initial settlement of Oil City was sporadic, and tied to the iron industry. After the first oil wells were drilled in 1861, it became central to the petroleum industry while hosting headquarters for the Pennzoil, Quaker State, and Wolf's Head motor oil companies. Tourism plays a prominent role in the region by promoting oil heritage sites, nature trails, and Victorian architecture.

The Oil City North Side Historic District, also known as Cottage Hill, Palace Hill, and Polish Hill, is a national historic district that is located in Oil City, Venango County, Pennsylvania. Situated directly north of the Oil City Downtown Commercial Historic District, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

The Oil Creek Library District is an administrative unit designated by the Pennsylvania Office of Commonwealth Libraries and charged with facilitating and enhancing public library service in Clarion, Venango, and Jefferson Counties. The District's offices are currently located at the Oil City Library, a public library serving approximately 11,000 people in the city and surrounding areas.

The Petroleum Street Bridge is a girder bridge connecting the North Side and South Side neighborhoods of Oil City, Pennsylvania and crosses the Allegheny River. The bridge sits just downstream from the confluence of Oil Creek and the Allegheny River. The 1995 structure carries two lanes of U.S. Route 62 and was built during a decade of major refurbishments of Upper Allegheny crossings. Previously, a 1910 truss bridge stood on the site; this structure replaced an earlier wooden bridge.

Oil City Armory is a historic National Guard armory located at Oil City, Venango County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1914, and consists of a two-story administration section with a taller two-story drill hall in a Late Victorian style. The administration section has a taller three-story, corner, polygonal office tower with Gothic-influenced window surrounds. The drill hall measures 70 by 72 feet and has a roof supported by Pratt trusses.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. It is located in the Oil City South Side Historic District.

The Oil City Pennsylvania Railroad Bridge is an American truss bridge that carries the Western New York and Pennsylvania Railroad (WNY&P) across the Allegheny River between Cranberry Township and Oil City, Pennsylvania.

The Oil City South Side Historic District, also known as Venango City and Laytonia, is a national historic district that is located in Oil City, Venango County, Pennsylvania, and is situated directly south of the Oil City Downtown Commercial Historic District. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
