The Strathcona Community Hospital is located in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, and provides 27 hospital beds with sufficient infrastructure capacity for 36 additional beds in the future. The hospital opened on May 21, 2014. The hospital development was an issue in the Strathcona County municipal election, 2010. The incumbent mayor, Cathy Olesen, was defeated by Linda Osinchuk who ran a campaign attacking contemporary plans for the hospital which involved no overnight beds. After the election, the Alberta government announced revised plans to add beds to the hospital. The project broke ground in 2007 and was expected to be completed in late 2009, but was put on hold due to the down turn in the economy. Construction was resumed in spring 2010 and was completed in 2014.

Sherwood Park Mall is a shopping mall located in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada. It has 97 stores and services including Safeway, Cineplex Cinemas, Designer Shoe Warehouse and Indigo Books & Music. It is the only enclosed mall in Strathcona County.It opened in 1972 under the name "Eastgate Mall", and cost $4 million to build. After owner Patrician Land Corporation went into receivership in 1984, Toronto developer Joseph Tenenbaum and Northern Telecom took over the property and renovated and doubled the size of the mall, and also added a new food court. The name change occurred with these changes. A second expansion of the mall occurred in 2000. An interior renovation was completed in 2012. In 2017 the mall had its end anchors switch sides, with the Safeway and Chapters move from the northern side of the mall to the south side. With that change the Shoppers Drug Mart was able to gain a mall entrance. A further expansion was completed in early 2020, changing the entrance of the former Safeway location to a regular mall entrance, along with the addition of a Dollarama. The Strathcona County Public Library was located in the mall from 1992 to 2010, when it moved into a new building.

Health First Strathcona was primary care centre that opened in Sherwood Park, Alberta in February 2004. The facility was opened to complement the regular care provided by family physicians, by providing after hours care for illness and urgent injuries. The centre closed on May 20, 2014, with its services being transferred to the Strathcona Community Hospital, which opened a day later.

While long confined to generally south of Highway 16 (Yellowhead Trail), west of Highway 21 and north of Highway 630 (Wye Road), portions of Sherwood Park have expanded beyond Yellowhead Trail and Wye Road since the start of the 21st century. Anthony Henday Drive (Highway 216) separates Refinery Row, in a portion of the Sherwood Park Urban Service Area to the west, from the residential and commercial hamlet to the east.Sherwood Park was established in 1955 on farmland of the Smeltzer family, east of Edmonton. With a population of 72,017 in 2021, Sherwood Park has enough people to be Alberta's sixth largest city, but it retains the status of a hamlet, though the Government of Alberta officially recognizes the Sherwood Park Urban Service Area as equivalent to a city.

The Edmonton Composting Facility was the site of the Canadian City of Edmonton's co-composting system for processing organic waste. Co-composting involves mixing household waste with biosolids (sewage sludge), and using microorganisms to break them down into simple compost. Waste was separated from general garbage. In 2017 structural issues were identified in the roof of the aeration hall and by spring of 2019 conditions had deteriorated to the point that it was no longer safe to continue to operate the facility. The facility will be demolished and organic waste will be directed to the recently completed Anaerobic Digestion Facility.
