Bangor Grammar School (The Grammar or B.G.S.), is a Northern Irish voluntary grammar school for boys in Bangor, County Down. It was founded in 1856 by the Conservative politician Robert Ward and is one of eight Northern Irish schools represented on the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference. Old boys of the school are known as Grammarians.

Upritchard Park is a cricket ground in Bangor, Northern Ireland and the home of Bangor Cricket Club. In 2005, the ground hosted three List A matches in the 2005 ICC Trophy. The first of these was between Canada and Scotland, which resulted in a Scottish victory by 7 wickets. The second saw Denmark play the UAE, with the match ending in a no result, while the third saw Ireland play Denmark, with Ireland winning by 73 runs.In 2008, the ground hosted a further List A match between Ireland and Bangladesh A, which resulted in an Irish victory by 5 wickets.

Groomsport (from Irish Port an Ghiolla Ghruama 'port of the gloomy servant') is a suburb of Bangor in County Down, Northern Ireland. It is on the south shore of Belfast Lough and on the north coast of the Ards Peninsula. Groomsport has a population of 3,005 people according to the 2011 Census. It is part of the Ards and North Down Borough. Groomsport is a dormitory seaside and holiday village. Originally it was a small fishing village with the focus of development being the harbour and Main Street. Groomsport has developed as a centre for water and shore-based recreation with improved facilities for activities such as sailing and power boating. The Cockle Island Boat Club has its home here in the boat house on the pier. The village developed beside the natural sheltered harbour, between the shore, Ballymacormick Point and the rocky outcrop known as Cockle Island. The harbour is reputed to be of Viking origin and the beginnings of the small settlement can be traced to the 9th or 10th century. Groomsport remained a fishing village through the Victorian and Edwardian periods until the 1920s. Groomsport still retains the identity and character of a small harbour village with its pier and sheltered anchorage together with its historic street pattern.

Glenlola Collegiate School is an all-girls' grammar school in Bangor, County Down, Northern Ireland. The school was founded as a school for girls in approximately 1880.In 2018 the Education and Training Electorate evaluated the school as "Good" in all categories.The current principal, Mr W E Thompson, took up post in February 2010, taking over from Richard Finlay.

Ward Park is situated in Bangor, County Down, Northern Ireland. The 37 acre park contains 10 tennis courts, a duck pond and a selection of wildfowl housed in breeding pens. In the park there is a large war memorial and also located nearby is the main gun from the German U-19 U-boat built for the Imperial German Navy. This war relic was donated to the people of Bangor, by the Admiralty in recognition of the valorous conduct of Commander The Hon. Edward Bingham whilst on board HMS Nestor while fighting in the Battle of Jutland in July 1916, for which he received the Victoria Cross.

Loughriscouse (from Irish Luachras Cua 'rushy place of (the) hollow') is a rural townland in County Down, Northern Ireland. It has an area of 1140.89 acres (4.62 km2). It is situated in the civil parish of Newtownards and the historic barony of Ards Lower, located 2 miles east of Newtownards. It lies within the Ards and North Down Borough Council.

The Bangor Community Hospital is a health facility in Castle Street, Bangor, Northern Ireland. It is managed by the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust.

The Tonic Cinema was built in 1936 in Bangor, Northern Ireland. At the time it was the largest Cinema in Ireland with 2,001 seats. It was demolished in 1992 following a fire. The old Compton Theatre Organ, formerly in the Tonic Cinema, was in the care of Bangor Academy School but following the demolition of the school, the organ was moved to north east England where it is in the care of an enthusiast in Hull. It was one of only two Theatre Organs still in Northern Ireland, the other being in the Movieland Cinema, Newtownards, County Down, where it was installed in 1994, having originally been in the Ambassador Cinema, Hounslow, west London.

North Down Borough Council was a Local Council in County Down in Northern Ireland. It merged with Ards Borough Council in May 2015 under local government reorganisation in Northern Ireland to become North Down and Ards District Council. Its main town was Bangor, 12 miles east of Belfast with a population of approximately 68,000. The council was headquartered in Bangor. Its secondary centre was the former Urban District of Holywood, 8 km northeast of Belfast with a population of approximately 10,000. Most of the remainder of a total population was in suburban villages along the southern shore of Belfast Lough. The area of the former Borough is heavily suburbanised, railway links with Belfast are good and the area has been the domain of Belfast commuters since the mid-19th century. The former Borough is often held to be the wealthiest area in Northern Ireland, although there are pockets of deprivation in a string of overspill public housing estates along the Bangor Ring Road. The borough consisted of 4 electoral areas: Abbey, Ballyholme and Groomsport, Bangor West and Holywood. In the 2011 election, 25 members were elected from the following political parties: 11 Democratic Unionist Party, 6 Alliance, 4 Ulster Unionists, 1 Green, and 2 Independents. North Down along with Carrickfergus Borough Council were the only councils in Northern Ireland without Nationalist political party representation. The Borough of North Down was formed in 1973 in the local government reorganisation from the old Bangor Urban District, Holywood Urban District, North Down Rural District and part of Castlereagh Rural District.
