Temperance Flat Dam

Fine Gold Creek, in Fine Gold Gulch, is a creek in a gulch in Madera County, California that is a river tributary of the San Joaquin River. It is approximately 18 miles (29 km) from its mouth on the San Joaquin through where it has two forks to its headwaters.Like Coarse Gold Gulch in the same county and many other places in California, its name derives simply from the practice of gold mining.

Millerton Lake is an artificial lake near the town of Friant, about 15 mi (24 km) north of downtown Fresno, California, United States. The reservoir was created by the construction of 319 ft (97 m) high Friant Dam on the San Joaquin River which, with the lake, serves as much of the county line between Fresno County to the south and Madera County to the north. Part of the Central Valley Project, the dam was built by the United States Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) and was completed in 1942 with the exception of the drum gates being installed in 1947. The lake stores water for irrigation, which is distributed by the Madera and Friant-Kern Canals to the San Joaquin Valley. It has an instantaneous capacity of 520,528 acre⋅ft (0.642062 km3). Secondary uses include flood control and recreation, including swimming, fishing, water skiing and camping. A 25 MW hydroelectric plant operated by the Friant Power Authority produces electricity from large releases and two smaller plants use water released for a fish hatchery and to maintain minimum-flow in the river. Prior to the construction of Friant Dam, the current lake bed was the site of the town of Millerton, the first county seat of Fresno County. The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment has issued a safe eating advisory for fish caught in the Millerton Lake due to elevated levels of mercury.

Fort Miller (originally, Camp Barbour) is a former fort on the south bank of the San Joaquin River in what is now Fresno County, California, United States. It lay at an elevation of 561 feet (171 m). The site is now under Millerton Lake, formed by the Friant Dam in 1944. It is registered as California Historical Landmark #584.

The Table Mountain Rancheria is a federally recognized tribe of Native American people from the Chukchansi band of Yokuts and the Monache tribe. It is also the tribe's ranchería, located in Fresno County, California.

Hildreth is an unincorporated community in Madera County, California. It is located 3.5 miles (5.6 km) east-southeast of O'Neals, at an elevation of 1247 feet (380 m).In the late 1870s, Tom Hildreth opened a store at the site, thereby beginning the town named for him. A post office operated at Hildreth from 1886 to 1896. At its peak in the 1880s, Hildreth had a hotel, three general stores, a mine, a barbershop, and other businesses catering to miners and travelers on the stage road from Millerton. The town "officially died" in 1896 when the post office closed. Gold mining in the Hildreth district briefly revived in the late 1920s, but the town was never repopulated. By 2010, only the schoolhouse and cemetery remained.

Friant (formerly, Converse Ferry, Jones Ferry, Hamptonville, and Pollasky) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Fresno County, California, United States. The population was 549 at the 2010 census, down from 778 at the 2000 census. Friant is located 11.5 miles (19 km) north of Clovis, at an elevation of 344 feet (105 m).

O'Neals is an unincorporated community in Madera County, California. It is located on the Willow Creek 13 miles (21 km) southeast of Raymond, at an elevation of 1309 feet (399 m).The O'Neals post office opened in 1887. The name honored Charles O'Neal, merchant and first postmaster. It is the home of Frank Bigelow, elected to represent the California's 5th State Assembly district in the state legislature in 2012.

Magnet is a former settlement in Madera County, California. It was located 4 miles (6.4 km) northeast of O'Neals, at an elevation of 1404 feet (428 m).A post office operated at Magnet from 1900 to 1907. The name came from the Magnet mine.
