Lagan Valley Island

Lisburn (; from Irish: Lios na gCearrbhach [ˌl̠ʲɪsˠ n̪ˠə ˈɟaːɾˠwəx]) is a city in Northern Ireland. It is 8 mi (13 km) southwest of Belfast city centre, on the River Lagan, which forms the boundary between County Antrim and County Down. First laid out in the 17th century by English and Welsh settlers, with the arrival of French Huguenots in the 18th century, the town developed as a global centre of the linen industry. In 2002, as part of Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee celebrations, the predominantly unionist borough was granted city status alongside the largely nationalist town of Newry. With a population of 45,370 in the 2011 Census. Lisburn was the third-largest city in Northern Ireland. In the 2016 reform of local government in Northern Ireland Lisburn was joined with the greater part of Castlereagh to form the Lisburn City and Castlereagh District.

Fort Hill Integrated College is an Integrated College in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, located on Belfast Road. The principal of the school is Mr. Colin Millar. The school crest depicts keys representing opening the doors of knowledge: academic, personal, social, cultural, emotional and spiritual.

The Wallace Park in Lisburn, Northern Ireland was bequeathed to the people of Lisburn by Sir Richard Wallace. There are a number of football pitches, tennis courts, a duck pond and a children's adventure play area. The grounds of Lisburn Cricket Club are in the centre of the park where Cecil Walker MBE is the groundman. A velodrome was opened in 1953, but this fell into disrepair. The removal of one of the bankings was proposed as part of the park's redevelopment plan in 2008, to open up views in the park. The park has had a major overhaul with major landscaping and modernisation completed in 2011. Three members of the world famous Irish band, the Shamrock Tenors, Matt Good, Jack Walsh, and Raymond Walsh, all attended the nearby Friends' School, Lisburn. The band cite the park as an important element to their development as musicians, inspiring them to think "beyond the bandstand toward a greener future". It is rumoured that the band return to the park once a year to play a discreet gig to the local skateboarding community.

The Old Town Hall is a municipal structure in Castle Street, Lisburn, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The structure, which is used as a constituency office by the Democratic Unionist Party, is a Grade B2 listed building.

Christ Church Cathedral, Lisburn (also known as Lisburn Cathedral), is the cathedral church of the Diocese of Connor in the Church of Ireland. It is situated in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, in the ecclesiastical province of Armagh. Previously St Thomas's church, it is now one of two cathedrals in the Diocese, the other being the shared Cathedral Church of St Anne, Belfast. The Dean and Chapter of Lisburn Cathedral are known as the Dean and Chapter of St Saviour, Connor in honour of the original cathedral of Connor, County Antrim. The current building was started in 1708, after its predecessor was burnt down. Its noteworthy features are the gallery seating in the nave and the octagonal spire. At approximately 55m (181 feet) it is the tallest and most prominent building in the city of Lisburn.

Lisburn City Council was the local authority for an area partly in County Antrim and partly in County Down in Northern Ireland. As of May 2015 it was merged with Castlereagh Borough Council as part of the reform of local government in Northern Ireland to become Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council. Created in 1974, the council was the second largest in the Belfast Metropolitan Area. Council headquarters were in the city of Lisburn. It was the second-largest council area in Northern Ireland with over 120,000 people and an area of 174 square miles (450 km2) of southwest Antrim and northwest Down. The council area included Glenavy and Dundrod in the north, Dromara and Hillsborough in the south, Moira and Aghalee in the west, and Drumbo in the east. The council area consisted of five electoral areas: Downshire, Dunmurry Cross, Killultagh, Lisburn Town North and Lisburn Town South. It had 30 councillors, last elected in 2011. The final composition was: 14 Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), 5 Ulster Unionist Party (UUP), 5 Sinn Féin, 3 Alliance Party and 3 Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP). For elections to the Westminster Parliament, the council area was split between the Lagan Valley constituency, Belfast West and South Antrim constituencies.The first elections for the new council took place in May 2014.

Lisburn was a borough constituency which elected two MPs for the borough of Lisburn, County Antrim, to the Irish House of Commons, the house of representatives of the Kingdom of Ireland.

Lisburn Courthouse is a judicial facility in Railway Street in Lisburn, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is home to the magistrate's and county courts.

Lagan Valley (Irish: Gleann an Lagáin, Ulster Scots: Glen Lagan) is a constituency in the Northern Ireland Assembly. The seat was first used for a Northern Ireland-only election for the Northern Ireland Forum in 1996. Since 1998, it has elected members to the current Assembly. For Assembly elections prior to 1996, the constituency was largely part of the South Antrim and North Down constituencies. Since 1997, it has shared boundaries with the Lagan Valley UK Parliament constituency.

Lagan Valley was a single-member county constituency of the Parliament of Northern Ireland.

Lambeg (historically Lanbeg, from Irish Lann Bheag 'little church') is a small village and civil parish in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Located between Belfast and Lisburn, it was once a small rural village, but is now within the Greater Belfast conurbation. Lambeg is also an electoral ward of Lisburn Council. In the 2001 Census it had a population of 60 people. The civil parish of Lambeg covers areas of County Down as well as County Antrim.
