Belle Vue Clinic is an NABH accredited premiere medical care institution that is one of the earliest hospitals established in Kolkata. The hospital is a part of the M.P Birla Group that owns and runs a large number of businesses and enterprises in the city. Priyamvada Devi Birla, wife of the late Madhav Prasad Birla is the founder of this hospital. Belle Vue Clinic had the first ICCU in the private sector in 1971 and the first centre to start renal transplant. It also became the first centre in eastern India conducting tissue typing for Organ Transplant patients.

Shiraz Golden Restaurant or Shiraz is a restaurant located at Park Street, Kolkata, India. This was the first restaurant to serve Mughlai cuisine in Kolkata. In 2016, the restaurant completed 75 years. Shiraz has several outlets across the country.

South Park Street Cemetery, formerly known as the ‘Great Christian Burial Ground’, was one of the earliest non-church cemeteries in the world. St. Xavier's College is a private, Catholic, autonomous higher education college under Calcutta University run by the Calcutta Province of the Society of Jesus in Kolkata, India. It was founded by the Jesuits in 1860 and named after St. Francis Xavier, a Jesuit saint of the 16th century, who travelled to India. In 2006, it became the first autonomous college in West Bengal, India, and is affiliated to the University of Calcutta. The National Institutional Ranking Framework has ranked the college 4th in India in 2021 and 8th in 2022.

St. Xavier's Collegiate School (informally SXCS) is a private Catholic primary and secondary school for boys, located in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The school was founded in 1860 by the Jesuits under the supervision of Fr. Henri Depelchin S.J., and it is named after St. Francis Xavier, a 16th-century Jesuit missionary to India. The school caters to approximately 2,300 students.

Birla High School in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, was founded by Lakshmi Niwas Birla in 1941. The name of the school was changed from Hindi High School to Birla High School in 1997. J.D Birla Institute (JDBI) Kolkata is a private unaided college affiliated to Jadavpur University, Kolkata. The late Sushila Devi Birla, wife of industrialist late L. N. Birla established a college for girls in her mother-in-law's name in June 1962. The college was named Smt. Jawahari Devi Birla Institute of Home Science and it filled a much-felt gap in the scientific education of young women from Kolkata's conservative families. Over five decades, the institute has grown with the needs and demands of the changing times. A Department of Commerce was added in 1997 and in tune with the shifting zeitgeist; another campus was started in 2002 to house the co-educational Department of Management. At this time, the name of the institution was simplified to J. D. Birla Institute. In the year 2009, four new professionally-oriented under-graduate B.Sc. courses (Food Science & Nutrition Management; Textile Science, Clothing & Fashion Studies; Interior Designing and Human Development) were introduced apart from two new post-graduate M.Sc. courses (Food & Nutrition and Textiles & Clothing) in 2009. M.Com. was introduced and the Home Science Programme discontinued in 2013.

The Scottish Cemetery at Calcutta was established in 1820 catering to the specific needs of the large Scottish population in the Kolkata area. These Scots, including soldiers, missionaries, jute traders and businessmen, were attached to numerous enterprises in the area such as the headquarters of the East India Company, and the administration of the British India, whose capital was here. The cemetery was utilised until the 1940s but was abandoned in the 1950s and neglected following India's independence. Well over 90% of those buried bear recognisably Scots names such as Anderson, McGregor, Campbell and Ross. Around 10% are Bengali.
