Thiruvankulam is a census town and revenue village in Thrippunithura municipality, in Ernakulam district, Kerala, India. The area is a part of the Kochi metropolitan area. The NH 49 passes through Thiruvankulam. The Karingachira junction is the location of the southern terminus of the Seaport-Airport Road, which connects the Cochin International Airport and the Cochin Port.In the 13th and 14th centuries, Thiruvankulam was a border village between the Kingdom of Cochin and Kingdom of Travancore. The Kavaleeshwaram stream, now a canal, separated the two kingdoms. Thiruvankulam is the location of the Hill Palace, which was the imperial administrative office and official residence of the Cochin royal family. In the present day, Thiruvankulam's proximity to the city as well as industrial areas comprising the Kochi refineries and allied industries have contributed to its growth. The economic development of Kochi, as well as the nearby refinery industry have resulted in Thiruvankulam emerging as a major residential area.

Thrikkariyoor Sree Kottekavu Bhagavathi Temple is situated 4 km from Kothamangalam. The presiding deity of the temple is Devi Adi Parashakti, located in main Sanctum Sanctorum, facing north. This temple deserves a special mention, as it is believed to have the spirits of Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva. The rites and rituals are based on those of the Arya Dravida traditions. Thrikkariyoor is also believed to be the capital of Chera Dynasty.

The Chottanikkara (correction of Jyotiannakkara) Devi Temple is a temple dedicated to the Hindu mother goddess Bhagavati Lakshmi. She is believed to be residing in Chottanikkara (Mahalakshmi) along with her Husband Maha Vishnu. The main deity is also considered as Lakshmi Narayana according to the temple legend. The temple is Classified one among the 108 Abhimana Kshethram of Vaishnavate tradition. The temple is located at Chottanikkara, a southern suburb of the city of Kochi in Ernakulam district, in the state of Kerala, India and is one of the most popular temples in the state. Sree Mahamaya Bhagavati is one of the most popular deities in Kerala and the supreme mother goddess in Hinduism. Chottanikkara Devi (Melekavu Bhagavathi) is worshipped at the temple, in three different forms: as Mahasaraswati in the morning, draped in white; Mahalakshmi in noon, draped in crimson; and as Mahakali in the evening, decked in blue. Devotees used to chant "Amme Narayana, Devi Narayana, Lakshmi Narayana, Bhadre Narayana" in this temple. Goddess 'Keezhkkaavu bhagavathi' is believed to be Bhadrakali, in her fierce form or Ugra form. People suffering from mental illnesses and commonly visit the temple, as Chottanikkara Devi is said to cure her devotees. Guruthi pooja is a ritual done in the late evening to invoke the goddess Mahakali. Earlier 'Guruthi Pooja' was done only on Fridays. But nowadays, it is performed every day.

Hill Palace is an archaeological museum and palace located in the Thrippunithura neighbourhood of Kochi, Kerala. It is the largest archeological museum in the state and was the imperial administrative office and official residence of the Cochin Maharaja. Built in 1865, the palace complex consists of 49 buildings spreading across 54 acres (220,000 m2) and built in the traditional architectural style. The complex has an archaeological museum, a heritage museum, a deer park, a pre-historic park and a children's park.The campus section of the museum is home to several rare species of medicinal plants. Presently, the palace has been converted into a museum by The Kerala State Archaeology Department and is open to the public. The palace is about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) from the city centre and is reachable by road and by rail. The Centre for Heritage Studies (CHS), an autonomous research and training institute set up by the Department of Cultural Affairs, of the Government of Kerala also functions at the site. The CHS is designated as the 'Manuscript Conservation Centre' (MCC) and 'Manuscript Resource Centre' (MRC) by the National Mission for Manuscripts.

Karingachira St. George's Jacobite Syrian Church of Jacobite Syrian Christian Church, established in 722 AD (Makaram 13), is one of the ancient churches of the Syriac Orthodox Church. St. Thomas, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ is the founder of the ancient church in India. Christian writers and historians from the 4th century refer to the evangelistic work of Apostle Thomas in India, and the Indian Christians ascribe the origin of their church to the labours of the apostle in the 1st century.The church is located near Hill Palace, Thripunitura, Kochi. The church is named after Saint George. The Katthanar (Vicar) of Karingachira was considered the representative of the Nasarani community of the erstwhile Cochin State. During athachamayam, the Katthanar representing the Nasranis, along with Nettur Thangal (representing the Muslims), and Chembil Valia Arayan (representing the fisher folk) accompanied the Maharaja of Cochin State.

The Makaliyam Sreeramaswamy Temple is a famous temple of the Hindu Lord Sri Rama in Kochi, Kerala. The temple is located at Irumpanam along the Seaport-Airport Road. The temple is said to be built by the Chera Dynasty. Several years ago, it is believed that a major fire incident had happened in the temple in which almost all gopuras and many structures were severely damaged. This is the new temple constructed by devotees later on and is now owned by Cochin Devaswom Board. The temple is recently renovated again with copper plated roofs & Dasavathara framed walls in panchaloha. Lord Vinayaka and Lord Ayyappa are the subdeities (upa-devathas) in this temple. Lord Hanuman is also worshipped here without idol.

Cochin Refineries School is a higher secondary school situated in Kochi, Kerala, India. The school was relocated to its new campus near Vandipettah, Puthencruz on the 2nd of December, 2019.

Thrippunithura Terminal is a terminal metro station serving as the southern terminal of the Kochi Metro which was opened on 6 March 2024. It was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on 6 March 2024 and marked the completion of final station of the first phase of the Kochi metro system that starts from Aluva.
