Stockton, Camden

Stockton Township was a township that existed in Camden County, New Jersey, United States, from 1859 until its dissolution in 1899. However, in the 1850 US Census, Stockton Township is the given enumeration district. Stockton Township was incorporated by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 23, 1859, from portions of Delaware Township (now Cherry Hill Township).On March 3, 1874, the borough of Merchantville was formed from portions of the township. Pennsauken Township was established on February 18, 1892.Stockton was reincorporated as a town on May 1, 1894, based on the results of a referendum held on March 22, 1894.On March 24, 1899, the remaining portion of Stockton was annexed by the City of Camden, thereby forming "East Camden" and its constituent neighborhoods of Cramer Hill, Pavonia, Beideman, Stockton, etc. Stockton Township was dissolved.

Eastside High School is a four-year public high school in the City of Camden, in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, serving students in ninth through twelfth grades as part of the Camden City School District. In June 2020, it was announced that the school would be renamed; the change from Woodrow Wilson High School was made official in January 2022. As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 524 students and 60.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 8.7:1. There were 268 students (51.1% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 2 (0.4% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

St. Joseph Pro-Cathedral is a Catholic parish located on the east side of Camden, New Jersey, United States. It serves as the pro-cathedral of the Diocese of Camden. It is one of two parishes in the city of Camden to be named St. Joseph. The other one is St. Joseph Polish Catholic Church, which was established in 1891.

The Airport Circle is a traffic circle in Pennsauken Township, New Jersey, United States. It is located at the intersection of Route 38, U.S. Route 30 (US 30), and US 130, close to the Camden border. South of the circle, US 30 and US 130 run concurrently until they reach the former Collingswood Circle in Collingswood. The Airport Circle opened in 1927 and is the first of is kind in the United States. It is named for Camden Central Airport whose terminal building was located beside the circle, to the south-east. The circle has been modified to include traffic lights and ramps to help move traffic through.

Camden County Technical Schools Pennsauken Campus, also known as Pennsauken Tech, originally Camden County Vocational School, is a four-year regional vocational-technical public high school located in Pennsauken Township, in Camden County, New Jersey, United States, that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from across Camden County as part of the Camden County Technical Schools. The schools main building opened in 1928 at a time when most county resident lived near Camden and was the district's only campus until the Camden County Technical Schools Gloucester Township Campus opened in 1969 to serve more rural, eastern portions of the county. In 2011, the campus opened the Science and Horticultural Center building to act as a multiple-classroom extension unit. Etched high-up into a portion of the front face of the school's main building is "He who hath a trade, hath an estate," a quote from Benjamin Franklin. As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 763 students and 66.3 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 11.5:1. There were 460 students (60.3% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 77 (10.1% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Gateway Park is a 25-acre (10 ha) riverfront park in Camden and Pennsauken Township, New Jersey that runs along a half mile section of the Cooper River. It consists of a one-mile paved multi use trail for walking and casual biking. Future plans call for creation of a boat launch for paddled vessels such as canoes and kayaks. The trail is connected with the regional Circuit Trails initiative, a network of trails across multiple parks in the Greater Philadelphia region that connect southern New Jersey to Pennsylvania. The park is a member of Alliance for Watershed Education of the Delaware River which actively promotes the understanding and value of the Delaware River watershed.This is an urban park that is part of the revitalization of the Camden waterfront. The tract was previously filled with derelict buildings and seedy establishments. Gateway Park is one of a number of parks in the Camden area that are contributing to the revitalization of the Camden waterfront which also includes the recently opened Cramer Hill Preserve, Petty's Island nature preserve and Coopers Poynt Waterfront park among others.Gateway Park is owned by Camden County Municipal Utilities Authority (CCMUA) and is managed by New Jersey Conservation Foundation.

Camden Central Airport (sometimes called Central Airport, Camden) was an airport in Pennsauken Township, Camden County, New Jersey, United States. It had its peak of activity in the 1930s, serving as the main airport for the neighboring city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Pavonia Yard is a Conrail Shared Assets Operations (CSAO) rail yard in Camden, New Jersey. The yard begins just north of where the Vineland Secondary tracks cross the Cooper River near the intersection of State and Federal Streets, and continues north until approximately 36th Street, ending near the 36th Street River Line station on the Bordentown Secondary.

Camden Academy Charter High School is a four-year public charter high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Camden, in Camden County, New Jersey, United States. The school is part of Camden's Promise Charter School and operates under the terms of a charter granted by the New Jersey Department of Education.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 2,244 students and 215.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.4:1. There were 1,703 students (75.9% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 346 (15.4% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

A statue of Christopher Columbus stood in Camden, New Jersey, United States. The memorial was removed in June 2020. Levi Coombs III, pastor of the nearby First Refuge Progressive Baptist Church, stated that residents had called for the removal of the statue for 40 years but been ignored until the aftermath of the George Floyd protests. Camden Mayor Frank Moran stated, "There were a lot of atrocities toward the human beings that were on the island of Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands by this individual, and I believe [the statue] is and was offensive to all people of color, whether black or brown."

Newton Colony was the third English settlement in West Jersey. Newton Colony was founded in 1682 by a group of Quakers, who had emigrated from Ireland, on the banks of Newton Creek, a tributary of the Delaware River, in present-day Camden County, New Jersey. The founders of Newton Colony were William Bates, George Goldsmith, Mark Newbie, Thomas Sharp, Thomas Thackara and Robert Zane. The original Newton Colony occupied most of the present day municipalities of Oaklyn and Collingswood, New Jersey. The original colony grew to occupy a portion of the present day municipalities of Camden, Haddon Township, Pennsauken Township, and Haddonfield.

LEAP (Leadership, Education, and Partnership) Academy University Charter School is a charter school that serves students in kindergarten through twelfth grades from Camden, in Camden County, New Jersey, United States. The school operates under the terms of a charter granted by the New Jersey Department of Education. Founded in 1997, the school is split into three divisions, a K-6 lower school, a 7-12 upper school and a STEM high school for grades 9-12.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,559 students and 102.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 15.3:1. There were 1,172 students (75.2% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 131 (8.4% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.
