Solar Star is a 579-megawatt (MWAC) photovoltaic power station near Rosamond, California, United States, that is operated and maintained by SunPower Services. When completed in June 2015, it was the world's largest solar farm in terms of installed capacity, using 1.7 million solar panels, made by SunPower and spread over 13 square kilometers (3,200 acres).

The Catalina Solar Project is a 143.2 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic power station located near Bakersfield, Kern County, California, owned by enXco, an EDF Énergies Nouvelles Company. It covers an area of 445 hectares (1,100 acres). Construction began in May, 2012 and was fully completed in August, 2013. It uses thin-film PV panels bought from Solar Frontier (CIGS type) and First Solar (CdTe type).Phase 1 had a nameplate capacity of 60 MW and was connected to the grid in December, 2012. enXco has signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) for the production from the station.That clean electricity could offset roughly 74,000 tons of carbon emissions each year.

Willow Springs is a village located around a set of former springs (no longer flowing) in Kern County, California, United States. It is located 7.5 miles (12 km) west of Rosamond, at an elevation of 2,523 feet (769 m).Willow Springs International Motorsports Park is approximately two miles east of the original village of Willow Springs. An underground grid storage project is planned near the Whirlwind Substation.

Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve is a state-protected reserve of California, United States, harboring the most consistent blooms of California poppies, the state flower. The reserve is located in the rural west side of Antelope Valley in northern Los Angeles County, 15 miles (24 km) west of Lancaster. To the north is Kern County. The reserve is at an elevation ranging from 2,600 to 3,000 feet (790 to 910 m) above sea level, in the Mojave Desert climate zone. The reserve is administered by the California Department of Parks and Recreation. Other wildflowers within the reserve include the Owl's Clover, Lupine, Goldfields, Cream Cups and Coreopsis.

Arthur B. Ripley Desert Woodland State Park is a state park in the western Antelope Valley in Southern California. The park protects mature stands of Joshua trees (Yucca brevifolia) and California juniper trees (Juniperus californica) in their western Mojave Desert habitat. The park is located in northern Los Angeles County, 20 miles (32 km) west of downtown Lancaster and about 5 miles (8.0 km) from the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve.

Antelope Acres is an unincorporated community in Los Angeles County, California. It lies at an elevation of 2425 feet (739 m).Antelope Acres is located in the Antelope Valley, a high desert valley split between northern Los Angeles County and southeast Kern County, approximately 13 miles (21 kilometers) from downtown Lancaster and 64 mi (103 km) from downtown Los Angeles. The community has a population of about 2,800. It is a rural community centered south of California State Highway 138 (Avenue D) near 90th Street West. The community has become the home to many commuters who work in nearby cities; however, it still maintains a significant agricultural presence with livestock, field crops, and a local chapter of the 4H club. It also offers an open landscape for outdoor enthusiasts.

Willow Springs Canyon is a canyon cut by Willow Springs Canyon Wash. Its source is at the head of the canyon in the gap in the Portal Ridge of the Transverse Range, 0.5 miles north of Elizabeth Lake. It is cut into the slope to the northeast into the Antelope Valley, crossing the California Aqueduct. The mouth of the Canyon is 0.25 miles southwest of its confluence with Myrick Canyon Wash which is 300 feet southwest of the intersection of Munz Ranch Road with the Neenach - Fairmont Road in Los Angeles County, California, USA. Shea’s Castle, originally dubbed "The Painted Rocks, Shea's Lodge", is known today as Sky Castle or Castle Ranch. It is a private castle built in 1924 by the developer Richard Peter Shea. Shea, a New Yorker, moved to the dry climate of Southern California in hopes of improving the health of his wife, Ellen. Shea made his fortune developing Hancock Park in Los Angeles. He spent two years building the 8 bedroom, 7.5-bath castle, constructed of solid granite, on about 1,500 acres (6 km²) of land located in the Antelope Valley, just west of Lancaster and just south of the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve. The Stock Market Crash of 1929 bankrupted Shea. The bank took over the castle, Shea's wife died and Shea committed suicide. A variety of owners and renters have occupied the castle since. Thomas Stewart Lee, heir of the California-based Don Lee Network, once lived in the home. Roy Rogers' horse Trigger was trained on the property. A non-profit aviation group added a runway, dam and lake. The castle has seen its share of development plans as well, but to this day remains pretty much the same. There are pictographs on the property, as well as natural springs. It has been a location for 1967's Blood of Dracula's Castle, 2008's Alive or Dead, 2022's Babylon, and TV shows such as Airwolf, Bat Masterson, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Season 5 Episode 1), Harry O, The Rat Patrol, and Starsky & Hutch. It is currently a private residence.

Neenach ( NEE-nak) is an agricultural settlement in northwestern Los Angeles County, California, United States, with a population of about 800. It is facing a massive change with the proposed construction of a 23,000-home planned community to its north called Centennial.

The Lake Fire was a wildfire that burned during the 2020 California wildfire season in the Angeles National Forest in Los Angeles County in the state of California in the United States. The fire, which was first reported on August 12, 2020, burned 31,089 acres (12,581 ha) near Lake Hughes. It was fully contained on September 28. The cause of the fire remains unknown. The fire has damaged 3 structures, destroyed 12 structures and 21 outbuildings, and injured 4 firefighters.

Lake Hughes is an unincorporated community in northern Los Angeles County, California. It is in the Sierra Pelona Mountains, northwest of Palmdale and north of the Santa Clarita Valley, in the Angeles National Forest. It is on the sag pond waters of Lake Hughes and Elizabeth Lake. The community is rural in character, with a population of 649 in 2010, but also has a strong recreational element centered on the three lakes in the vicinity. The community of Elizabeth Lake is located just east of Lake Hughes, sharing the same ZIP code.
